    • But what's the alternative? It's not like people are keeping some secret reservoir of cheap cars for members of the secret cheap car club to occasionally buy from. I've been driving Monteros since the beginning of the 90s and they were always considered trash trucks by everyone until very recently, then they disappeared from the wrecking yards magically over about a 2-3 year period as all the ones owned by careless people finally quit working and all the rest are owned by responsible owners who take care of them and the price of a used one is pretty high these days. Same thing for the cars on this list... putting them in the hands of people who are willing to spend some money might save a few from the scrapyard for another few years.

Intake/Exhaust valves, timing issues, transmissions, electronics, etc. Most of these are pretty solid options but I'd have a hard time recommending specifically the 11th gen F150 to anyone shopping on a budget. There's a 2016 listed at $22k. I actually love these cars, I used to own a V6 manual coupe. Amazing cars. But under $10k is wildly unrealistic. Thats the price range for 4 cylinder coupes.

I have a 93 Gloria (same car as the Cedrid) and have rebuilt my transmission, did water pump, timing belt, tune up, valve cover gaskets, termostat, and the only part I have to get from japan was the intake gaskets. I've redone the suspension to lower it. (VIP build) and all those parts are US sold. Everything comes from Q45's, 240's, Maximas, or 300zx's. Great car and easy to maintain.

And the base still comes with the J32A3, which makes 270/258 (pre/post SAE revision) horsepower, and double-wishbone front/multi-link rear suspension. Combine this with a hydraulic rack and pinion, 17x8 wheels on 235/45 tires, and you have yourself a quick, mostly-analog, exceptionally-handling daily driver. Also the 3G TL is arguably the best looking sports sedan ever created.

  • The e82 platform really is a great car. I used to own a manual 120i and it was quite fast for a 2l and also nible in the corners even in its stock form. Just a all around blast to drive but you have to keep in mind that they come with a host of electrical problems that can sometimes be quite tricky to solve. Its nothing that will have you stranded on the side of the road but for example my lights and windows didnt work most of the time

    • Check your ground strap. A bad ground can cause weird electrical issues...also if you swap halogens for LEDs, you will trigger codes because the resistance is LEDs is so low the car thinks there's no light there.

It has the exact same engine as the Golf GTI so it has quite a bit of aftermarket support. Its an awesome car you can use all year round, its easy to work on, and coolest part, it has an active aero spoiler! Or if you want even cheaper you can get the MK1 TT for under $5k.

    • @@yipperdipper3189that's the MK1, but that stability issue wasn't that big of an issue. In America at least, it wasn't a slaughterhouse by any means. And sure you might say it's slower, and it is. But it's a great platform for modifying, the MK1 and MK2. Depending where you live a MK1 is significantly cheaper than a V6 mustang. It's also significantly more unique. And it can be built for just about anything, thanks to AWD. It can be a mean little rally car.

  • Anyone who wants off-roading/ tow vehicle that’s nice and cheap, go for a base model early gen Cayenne. I had an 05 with 130K miles on it, the interior was nice, got complimented a lot, and was able to tow my boat with it. I also took it off-roading on trails and gravel roads at 70mph sliding it. As a 21 year old who’s on car #7, all of my cars have been enthusiast or cult cars for cheap so if anyone wants more recommendations just let me know. I’ve had all sorts of cars and helped others buy even weirder cars. From a 3K E46 to a 140K McLaren lmao

  • Im fluent in yapanese so just one small little correction on the 2006-2009 mustang looks, people LOVED the retromodern styling, these shit sold so hard it brought back the camaro and challenger, the pony wars were back as soon as Ford was seen making money--and its why they're so common and easy to find. Its like one of the most popular generations of Mustang ever sold, it saved the brand after the 1999-2004 series couldn't, and its sales and the return of competition is why we even got the coyote. That aside, everything else spot on--theyre fantastic cars, I bought one as a first car with 156k miles and now 7yrs later at 200k Ive only put about 3k into repairs and the rest is maintenance and mods and easy to work in--also just fun as fuck for a daily drive, the forums exist still and all the labor you'd need to do exists on them or youtube.

  • The RSX type S is so underrated the EP3 made the list😂 The EP3 and the RSX is the same chassis except the RSX has the REAL K20, 6 speed trans and is a much nicer car. Yes you can find a bone stock 150k miles plus RSX-S for under 10k still but you will when to drive abit to go get it depending on where you live. However they are getting harder and harder to find because people rob the drivetrain out of them to put in the 90’s civic’s. 65-70% of them out in the wild are CLAPPPPPPPED ASFF but you can still find a gem if you be decently patient and not be a BIHHHHH about driving a few hours to pick it up. DO NOT BE AFRAID OF 200K MILES examples especially if the owner and show proof of proper maintenance. The K20 is veryyyyyy reliable!
