  • This type of shorts shows that the most important thing in a film of any genre is the story and the human component. The sci fi setting is very well done, but in the end it is the motivations of the characters and their depth that bring any setting to life, be it sci fi or fantasy. A pleasant surprise that reminded me of the Firefly/Serenity style with the Cowboy Bebop sensibility. It deserves to be expanded to a series.

And we hid, as it were, our faces from Him; He was despised, and we did not esteem Him. 4 Surely He has borne our griefs And carried our sorrows; Yet we esteemed Him stricken, Smitten by God, and afflicted. 5 But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed. 6 All we like sheep have gone astray; We have turned, every one, to his own way; And the Lord has laid on Him the iniquity of us all. 7 He was oppressed and He was afflicted, Yet He opened not His mouth; He was led as a lamb to the slaughter, And as a sheep before its shearers is silent, So He opened not His mouth._* _Jesus Christ loves you. If I was a movie producer I would snap you up immediately. You and all the crew should be really proud, every one of you. The CGI, the storyline, acting, post production, everything. How on earth did you fund something of this quality? Best wishes for the future.

So I would venture to say that, bottom line, they both lost. From the father's prospective it was damned if you and damned if you don't so, for his daughter's sake, he took a chance on moving this "cargo" and it came back and bit him. • I’m glad the slaves were released and that big guy dispatched by that worm. In the end the father cared about those people. In the end his daughter’s future was more important than himself. In the end he did prove he was a good man. I worry about what he has to face though and having to leave his daughter. This story had brilliant writing and directing. Every character I could feel them. Tears came to my eyes when he had to leave his daughter. I was glad he didn’t let that big brute dump the cargo. I felt the pain of the daughter. That’s brilliant characterization. As a once hobby writer I know the importance of creating three dimensional characters. Feeling their pain, or happiness, or ethical things, feeling sympathy for those now released slaves and glad they’ll be safe and chain free. The writing, directing, story line touched me in so many ways! The acting was superb. It takes a lot to impress me and man was this is a film that will stay with me for a long time. The characters were so real! I hope he can eventually be released so he can be reunited with his daughter. Now if only my tears would stop flowing I’ll be able to sleep. I’m that touched!
