    • Hollywood just wants to make spectacles now. Blockbusters. Little respect for the source material, for the characters. Independent filmmakers creating as a labor of love is where it’s at. If Hollywood were smart, they’d make smaller investments across many Indy filmmakers who are themselves fans of the material… not expected to set up a franchise, not expected to establish a multiverse or to respect (or create) canon of other storytellers.

I really loved the story, I always thought an Alien story set on Earth in a desert would be very interesting and the Lieutenant was such a badass character! The Xenomorphs probably took one look at that beard and knew they were cooked. Also great twist at the end, just a glimmer of hope only to remind you that no, this is an Alien story, you don't get out that easily!

Obviously with budget constraints,no quality CGI, graphics equipment and skill that couldn't make them look great. That's why they should of used a couple of quick appearances. Often the less you see is more effective.!!

Unfortunately, he spoke very bad Turkish, even I had difficulty understanding him(i am Türk). But the British soldier who is translating must know Turkish better than me, so he translates it immediately :)). But the movie is very good, congratulations.🤗

  • 9.5/10 No Man’s Land is absolutely brilliant film with a great story line, outstanding acting and a real treat for fans of the alien movie franchise. The Story It's hard to believe that one person, Christan Kennedy was able to write, produce, edit and shoot this fantastic yarn. It fits so neatly into the franchise cannon and really holds its own conceptually. It was a brilliant idea to place this story is the chaos of WW1 and I’m sure that there are some Hollywood writers slapping their foreheads in frustration because they didn’t come up with this idea. Cinematography The cinematography and lighting are perfectly done with great saturation and color palettes. The lighting was exceptional and painted the scenes with incredible nuisances. The close-up work is gorgeous and really pulls you into the characters and the tight living conditions of trench warfare. The weapons were also accurate for the time period and the addition of the BAR was a nice touch. Traci Rose’s costuming is bang on and credibly reflects the time period of the story. Actors The actors really look the part. The makeup was top notch and Jo Franklin and crew deserve full kudos for their work. The lead actor, with his craggy face and humongous beard, reminded me of Jorma Tommila from the movie Sisu. Easter Eggs The homages and Easter eggs that were brilliantly incorporated. The Weyland canned food was a nice touch. The scene with the shotgun shoved down the aliens’ throat and the resulting acid blood spray from the blast, reminded me of the scene in the APC doorway with Hicks in Aliens. When they set up the machine guns at the tunnel, I was hoping to see a scene similar to the ALIENS movie when they lifted the ceiling panels and saw the swarm of Aliens headed towards them. It would have been very cool to see them pouring out of the tunnel into a hail of machine gun fire. a la the smart guns that were set up in the tunnels on LV427. I especially loved the “Bad Robot” ending. I didn’t see it coming and I wonder if a shot of a face hugger skin, lying on the ground somewhere in the tunnels when the soldiers were exploring, would have set it up better. Nitpicking When you set the bar so high in your film the parts that don't work well unfortunately stand out more than they would in a lesser crafted endeavor. The thick dialects and no subtitles made it difficult to understand what the actors were saying. The costumes seemed a bit too clean at times and didn’t have that lived in look. Living in trenches for weeks at a time would cause a great deal of wear and tear to clothing and equipment and unfortunately the costuming didn’t match the makeup. The choppy CGI at the beginning and did not forebode great production values for the film. However, this was soon made up for with action scenes where we got to see the Aliens in action. The ship interior was a total misfire, it simply looked like the basement of a building with a lot of pipes in it. The square architecture did not match the round shapes of the ship we saw at the start of the film. And the height of the ceilings did not match the scale of the ship’s occupants. The “alien autopsy” corpse lying on the ships floor was a disappointment. I get that Kennedy was maybe trying to tie the classic “Little Green Men” to the Alien Franchise, but it seemed odd and out of scale. I’ve seen a lot of sci-fi movies in my time. I saw ALIEN in the theaters when it first came out. I am a huge fan of the franchise and I’ve seen a lot of fan made films pertaining to this genre. To refer to Christan Kennedy’s work of art as a “fan film” does not do it justice. It is truly one of the best non studio films made. I would have gladly paid money to see this in a theater.

  • It's the little touches that makes this so much better than anything I've seen in the last few years ( I say few...but it's probably a lot more than that). The fact that there was a can of 'Corn Bread' produced by Weyland & (enter another name here...I couldn't read the other name) gave me bloody chills. The Aussies and the Turks were ferocious fighters against each other in WW1. However, they would celebrate Christmas together and then get on with the fighting afterwards on an agreed time. It was a bloody mess, but the respect shown for each side by the other was always there. That's why we Aussies go back to reunite with our Turk mates every year on ANZAC Day. That was a great scene in this wonderful film that showed that you can bond over the shitstorm reigning over you. Dealing with the incomprehensible nightmare that you need to stick together. Thanks guys and gals!

  • My most sincere compliments to the entire production! I admit that at first I was perplexed by the choice of xenomorphs (in similar settings, I have always seen a Predator as more "at home"), but I still appreciated the story told, the skill of the cast and the use of effects. Better than many million-dollar productions today, there's no doubt about it!

  • good for a pilot I would expand into a tunnel concept like descent having network of natural occurring tunnels with underwater paths and all. Having derelict crashed spacecraft buried deep in the core. Have one side trying to tunnel to get to the other side trench getting into the tunnels start exploring the natural tunnels. Have some of them be send as scouts to map the tunnels and then the alein starts pick them off in the tunnels and their numbers increase. The commander thinking that they're in a engagement in the tunnels orders more men into the tunnels. The tunnels system is including both horizontal and vertical paths the aliens numbers increase and they keep pick them off as push deeper. Then it is revealed that this group of alien developed to live underground and that they are increase in numbers and build tunnels and creating more colonies all unders the ground going up for food. Doing a more jungle battlefield to give the aliens more ability to hide would make the costume, puppeteering and CGI more cost effect I would think as at times some of a tell seen through the bush is all the audience needs to know it's there. I am talking about a ideal for much larger scale movie based on the same concept. I would emphasize them having a ant like system and super sized aliens like some ants have some outrageously larger subgroups. They large spaces were them farm animals by them trap in drop food down to them with the only way out is straight up and underwater passes. The aliens harvest some of the animals by grabbing them when they go to get a drink of water. There are air paths going up by tunnel paths but at several points they have straight drops which make them unreversible for the animals. What makes these aliens different is a mutation which makes them more environmentally natural and less of a planet killer as don't seek to overly populate to the point of wiping themselves out but stablely expand based on limit rate of development of of new queens with each colony size being limited. Mutation would me based on a silicone based virus from asteroid that hits the ship that makes it crash into a planet deep into system tunnrls and path to the surface collapsing behind trapping the aliens beneath the surface for a long time. Aliens even mutated into separate groups of aliens that take on the other animals and war with one another. Creating a display of adaptation it actual doen't even need to be on earth but rather be on another planet with 2 forces of the corporations fighting over mine rights of a high valued planet. They could both actively be fighting and mining.

  • Dope AF Alien short w/an epic homage to JC's The Thing in the opening shot along w/call-backs including "They mostly come at night" & more comprising a work that's quite a bit more polished, well-acted, finely-directed and possessed of high production qualities than a "fan film'. A mini-masterpiece all Alien fans will dig.
