  • Definitely pulled me in with the story line. I'm not a film critic, nor a professional in the industry, but I thought Ms. Dodd did a great job of playing the scientist so totally driven that she didn't realize what she was missing until she nearly lost it. And Mr. Atkins clearly showed his conflict between his frustration and professionalism as an engineer. And the overall technical quality was as good as anything I've seen from Hollywood. I never subscribe to anything on youtube. But I'm making an exception in this case, and looking forward to more of this saga.

  • The sound, the lighting, the Special Effects, the plot, the acting - every single piece of this was just exquisite. The pod controls were smooth, simple, the lighting - again - an INCREDIBLY convincing underwater environment, made infinitely more convincing by the distant shots of a person at the controls of the pod (incredible f/x work). I have seen every short out there - literally 99.9% of them - and this was by far the most coherent, best-acted, smoothest-edited, superior computer-generated f/x work, and best-edited short I have ever seen. Much better than some movies. It must have been very difficult to know when to stop, as the skill level of your team seems boundless - I will be waiting eagerly to see where this goes. Congratulations - you all have a HUGE future ahead of you. [Just one (seeming) tiny, tiny error: Under "cast" you have "Commander Mitch as Conrad Bruce Davison" on your comments below the video. I think you meant "Conrad Bruce Davison as Commander Mitch," in keeping with the order of the other credits. This is so small it seems petty to mention it - but it's just the way my mind works]. Congratulations on painstaking, beautiful, and dedicated work well done!

Like all the greats that came before, Arthur C.Clark, Ray Bradbury, Frank Herbert, Isaac Asimov, Jules Verne, and of course H.G.Wells, Oceanus will leave you in awe with its suspense and intrigue along with it's musical-score that sounds as if where written buy one the long time great masters, leaving you starving for more. • Great storytelling with visuals that made the ocean a character in this film. I thoroughly enjoyed the dynamic and evolving chemistry between the two characters. It was good to see Bruce Davison in a supporting role. Even without going onto the station proper, it was one of the finest undersea bases I have ever seen depicted in a film of any caliber. This was a great indie film, and I hope we get to follow the aftermath of the cataclysm that will change all of their lives, forever...

  • A brilliant story, masterfully told. The human element is never lost to the technology in the story. And the tech is amazing. VFX are big budget quality and the sets truly fantastic. The sound design and music, perfectly mixed. I see a singular, clear minded, and unique voice in the writing whose future is to be seen as bright as any of his more famous peers. I can’t wait to see part two. And if anyone has any sense, this should be further expanded upon beyond even that.

  • This short is from 2015, and was a prequel to the unreleased film Oceanus: Odyssey One. It's unknown if this movie ever will get finished and funded to completion. But it sure is a great set universe. Reminds me of the good old PC game Archimedean Dynasty, which evolved into the Aquanox series.

The effects create a beautifully believable advanced underwater setting that draws the viewer in and refuses to let go! Please continue this incredible journey. • This is fantastic! Really hope to see this as a series! I have only one quibble: 2029 is only 7 years away, it's quite a stretch to imagine this sort of project and infrastructure would be around in that time, they would have needed to be planning and budgeting years ahead. Tweak it to 2049 or something, that would be far more believable. Otherwise, bravo!

  • My fiancee and I really enjoyed this film. I'm a film buff, and I loved the concept that perhaps the only way we would survive an extinction level event might be a subsea habitat. It is from this film, indeterminate whether or not the apocalypse is natural or something that hits us from space because supervolcanoes can throw matter far into the sky - but it is clear that if we're not struck by a large enough comet or asteroid the oceans could be the only thing that would survive. Well cast, well acted, well directed and a plot that is not only intriguing but also deeply plausible. My favorite scene was the dark, frightening airplane slowly descending into the depths. We are really looking forward to this story continuing and hope to see more from the director. Two thumbs up!
