To all the comments stating this repair will fail/be weak etc. I understand that heating a heat treated rail reduces its strength, but when you look at the application, a very short wheelbase single drive prime mover it’s clear that not much load is on the rails in the repaired area. Most weight is directly above the drive axle, maybe only a couple of tons transferred through the rails to the steer axle. If you look closely you can also see that they have reinforced the repair by doubling the frame in that area. I don’t think you’d ever get away with a repair like this in a developed country, but it’s probably pretty good compared to other things I’ve seen online

New to the channel. I’m a heavy truck mechanic by trade, I watch these channels to see how different other countries repairs are. I’m amazed at rebuilding truck engines in the dirt, but it’s what they have. This frame was horrible and they did a decent job straightening it physically, but structurally shot. I didn’t like them skipping over the entire frame strengthening gussets. I watch Pakistani trucking and rozoburg trucks for more detailed channels.

These frame repair men need more heat for straightening such a heavy frame rail. They did an excellent job though with such limited equipment. Much respect for them. I spent over 33 years as a truck and auto framework repairman. It's not an easy job. On such heavy metal we used what is called a flame rosebud, it puts out alot more heat than a blowtorch.

Thank you for the video. As others suggested no music is better. There's a lot of talk about frame strength and should they fix it. IMO, if they could do those things they would. They are working outside in the dirt, no cover, very basic tools. They are engineering solutions as best they can with what they have. Have you seen other videos where they take old ship steel and use very old lathes to make gears or shafts, etc? The hours that takes is staggering. Here in the states you would put it in a machine program it and "walk" away. As someone else noted look at the tires. If they can't afford tires how can they afford the frame tables and import the parts ? MB doesn't give that stuff away. TBH would I want to drive one of those trucks? No sir, I don't think I would. But I have that luxury. On the videos I've seen they do re-inforce it. I worry more about upkeep on the brakes, tires, etc..

I can see that everyone is delighted: "nice work", "great job", etc. Meanwhile, the truth is that such a demolished frame WILL NEVER HAVE NORMAL durability. Not for that the Mercedes-Benz company builds trucks with BOLTED frames to pat them on the anvil when damaged, but to replace the damaged elements with brand new ones without any problems. Thus, a "repaired" truck in this way is death on the roads... Do these people have even elementary knowledge of steel strength? Such beams are cut, bent and drilled during production, but the most important thing is in the end: they undergo a complicated heat treatment process - repeated tempering and hardening. Therefore, they are made of relatively thin sheet metal. These properties are destroyed when heated with an acetylene torch. Therefore, the beam treated in this way, even though it is straightened, is scrap!

@andrzej35112 жыл бұрын
You are wasting your time detailing engineering facts to these fabricators who repair these chassis rails. This is the way they do repairs, is always the way they do repairs and always will be the way they do repairs. It's their job to get the truck back on the road by what ever means wether it is structurally sound or not. Repairs are cheap and more cost effective than replacing with brand new parts!

I used to work in a truck shop we would hack the both bad frames off an cut it at an angle an fit the new channel frames up carefully measuring a lot of times an stick weld the new channel frame to the frame of the truck. I think it would be way less work doing it that way than trying to fix those mangled up channel pieces on the truck.
ok thanku sir
You gotta admit. That's pretty amazing workmanship.
Hola buenas noches. Buen proyecto. ¿ Una sugerencia? Están con maquinaria pesada . Protejan sus pies . Es entendible , Que es una cultura. Pero trabajo es trabajo . A cuidar sus herramientas pies manos ojos . Saludos desde argentina Buenos Aires 😉👍🏼
As a former body man that salvaged totals years ago, using frame machines and diatom lines, I will have to say that though the job may not be perfect, those guys did a great job considering- with what they had to work with. I’ll give them a thumbs up. Actually, they did a better job with “made up” things than a lot of people here that has state of the art equipment.
*Good result. Well done. Hello everyone! Health to all!* 💥💥💥👍🏽🚚🚚🚚 We work on a different technology)
Yes we do in USA we would have melted the iron and started fresh those Pakistanis can repair anything twice it even looks good
In certain countries you 'make do with what you have'. It’d be wonderful if the supply chains and equipments that exist in Europe were available where these guys operate. If it’s acceptable to the buyers and they know the history of the framework then I’d say happy roads. I’d encourage insurance but doubt it’s available.
I thought once you reheat a frame like that it would weaken it significantly.

this is the worst service I've ever seen! The chassis was not aligned on a fixed forming table, and there are spots where the metal was left untempered.
Looks good from my house...
File a complaint with HR then.
Nice safety boots!

Thanks for liking
Risky business... that truck never become the same.
That truck can back to the road with the right repair. I do chassis in Temple Texas whit out over hit.
The truck will be in good condition again, they have work on many many trucks, they have more experience in their own way in our own country, they did use by their own hands! Guess what in USA, the body shop fixed my frames used by computer, it never same when I drive, they missed some inches so the frame rail still off…
What would you know you swelled gowl
Something about a bunch of guys walking around and working in sandals that makes me wonder about the entire project. Safety and quality work doesn't come to mind...
Power of FLIPPER sandal
Toes are overrated
I rather have a guy in sandals than a guy high on drugs working at GM assembly plants
You have to free your sole by wearing sandals!
OMG- they fix these and drive them.. poor person who gets killed when this fails and it will.
That frame is toast
That will be am damn flexible truck when it is on the road again…
It will be fine and more re enforcement than new
They’ve add other frame steel c-frame, look at it again

Must’ve been a rollover from the twist with no front end damage.
Yeah this is terrible even for third world standards.
I had same thoughts when heating steal you take away strength i had weld some steel L shape on that heated chassis locations if money is a thing but better order some new chassis parts
@@itzivbg7426 It's not like the replacement is better. It is so that replacement is necessary. There is no such money in the world worth the lives of victims of an accident caused by a faulty chassis. Everyone should think about it BEFORE the repair, not AFTER the accident.
@@TheRebelOne. If at least one of the addressees reads and UNDERSTANDS, I will consider my post a great success. There are chances and that's why I wrote this post, although I know that it will not cause a total revolution. But... a drop of water pierces the rocks... those are real nice safety shoes they have on looks like a great truck frame to start with

These guys version of the Duke boys sure don't friggin around do they!!??? This must be the locals version of Cooter's garage! That's a hell of a kink in that frame! Would love/hate to see video of that accident. Hope the driver came through alright!

If you offer a near by swimming pool or install one youirself customers can swim while waiting for service/breakage. and lubing to take place by the mexicans working for you. customers can relax and sun tan on a pool deck. The shafting and rod greasing can occur nearby. The allen screws can be tightened and zerk nipple ends can be lubed. Brakes can be checked and rotors turned and of course the johnson rods can be replaced as per factory recommendations...😀
Vocês SÃO super muito boom curt parabéns isso sim merece respeito parabéns senhores VLW obrigado
Nice video but what's with the music? Such music belongs with a cowboy movie, or watching someone going to the toilet.
most people are right about the heating of the beams , but these mercedes are not anywhere near the quality it use to be. it flexes like pudding from new..
Wow amazing job guys

A lot of comments saying not safe, cheaper to order a replacement frame, aligned on forming table.......U work with what u have, conditions arent the same in most parts of the world where u can run down and order replacement parts and have it delivered and sometimes the cost and time frame is too prohibitive. restrictive import rules and taxes make work like this a necessity.

This truck will just as safe as their footwear.

Lucky it didn’t pull the side out of the engine, that was quite a crash :o

You'd go to prison for putting that thing back on the road in a lot of countries, and rightly so.
And here it's the way they do it :p Bend frame. Okay, compared to this one they have the right tools. watch?v=geaUd1HYJd0

name those countries.
@@blackskull1177 Pretty much the entirety of western europe has rules regarding the road worthiness of commercial vehicles. Once the chassis has been deformed it loses its structural integrity and will never have the same strength again. By putting these vehicles back on the road you are endangering peoples lives, and you are a total pos who should be in prison.

Help me here, wouldn't it be safer and cheaper to order two new rails from Mercedes?
depend on your location dear.. its hard to get part in pakistan. thats why they doing it in the other way
If Labour is cheap… new rails r too expensive, an maybe hard to get to Pakistan
Love your steel toed flip flops 😱 Ouch!!!
That is one pretzeled frame!
Now that all of the heat treatment of the frame is gone, it will now flex like a noodle till it cracks and fails.

Then they will fix it again. What’s your point. I’ve driven trucks for 47 years. Drove the same truck for 26 years. Believe me I know how trucks wear out. These guys are doing more with nothing, which is more than I can say for some shops with “ modern equipment “and can’t get it right. I’m not advocating that we all go “ down market “ but that truck will go down the road again, and make some money, and these guys will put food on the table. Ps I only owned Kenworths
My hats off to them for their repair work that being said that truck should have been junked and used for parts
