The 2021 US Open main draw runs from August 30 - September 12 in New York City at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center. The tournament takes place for the 141st time and is the fourth and final Grand Slam of the year. Dominic Thiem is the men’s singles defending champion but has withdrawn following an injury. Naomi Osaka is the women’s singles defending champion and will be aiming to claim the title for the third time in four years. Meanwhile, No. 1 seed Novak Djokovic looks to complete the calendar Grand Slam after winning the Australian Open, French Open and Wimbledon already this year. Should the Serbian lift the title here for the fifth time, he will also overtake Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal to become the first-ever man to win 21 Grand Slam singles titles. With full capacity crowds back again, it’s time for the greatest return!

Great to see her doing well and proving that Wimbledon wasn't a fluke. Hope she goes on to do really well.
I think you got your wish
She did!!! 😂😂
really really well
Well she's a superstar now.
There can't be many athletes with people from four nations rooting for them as their kin 🇬🇧🇨🇳🇨🇦🇷🇴 Go Emma!
These highlights should be at least 4-5 minutes. With so many points how can you only have around 2 and a half minutes worth? There was some returns and points from Emma in the first set that should be put in.
Agreed, and somehow these highlights are still better than Roland Garros, Australian Open and Wimbledon 💀
I think there are some broadcasting rules and limit to how long of the highlights they can produce…coz if it’s too long people just gonna watch highlights not bothering with subscriptions and broadcasters

At this stage, this was "just" a qualifier playing an opponent who had whitewashed her a few weeks earlier. In addition to any restrictions imposed by commercial rights, the US Open probably thought hat there would be little interest in this match, after all there were still 64 players in the tournament and all the other qualifiers had been beaten by the end of round 2
1 month ago, Zhang beat Raducanu 6-3 6-2 in San Jose. Incredible progress!
Sweet revange
She had been out for near a month since Wimbledon for that match and first on hard courts so that was going to be tough.
@toddrobert38 oops, you have to laugh!
@toddrobert38 you re funny
@toddrobert38 Do you think the Queen of England arrange everything? So every tennis player gave up to Emma in the US Open in 2 sets? Or maybe just Prince William behind her?
Great Emma , love the way she gets down low on some of the returns, not many players can do that.
Go Emma! Great to see her play with so much joy and freedom.
How fast she learned from her last match with Zhang 👍👍👍👍.
One proved to be a singles champ! The other proved in doubles ❤
Nice to see a female British player doing well. I hope Raducanu goes far in the sport.
British?. Just a little bit.
@@nederlanditisnederlanditis5529 her father is Romanian so she has a Romanian surname
@@ericdigeratu She’s lived and grown up in Britain since she was 2 so she’s all three, she’s chosen to represent Britain for a reason.

weeks before zhag defeated emma 2 to love.. emma really improved in US open.. she was able to nuetralized zhang strong game by minimizing zhangs strong hits
She is a threat for everyone. She is direct and always in attack mode . Makes her points in five shots.
Emma inspiring for the young talent , keep it up
Brilliant, Emma. Keep it going!
Boys, men and dads love her ...way to go emmaR
Well played
Congratulations Emma Raducanu😁😁😁👏👏👏♥️♥️♥️! 1st time at the US open beating a grand slam Australian open quarter finalist + who beaten emma just last month is outstanding progress💪💪💪! emma was on fire she showed that she means business and sent a statement that she is here to win and not just to make up the numbers! wins on hard court 5, sets dropped 0, underestimating emma would be a mistake in this kind of form!
Emma , So Superb, so Talented 👍👍
What a year she's having!
Wow got her revenge nicely after Zhang wiped the floor with her last meeting !
Wonder how many in this crowd had any idea they were watching the new champion.
No way. 😂
None
certainly not Shuai who easily beat her just a short while prior to this meeting
@@dcfox5435 yeah
@@dcfox5435 Yes she did, this was much more convincing, not only is she getting better but I feel she has a big match termperment to go with her growing confidence. No one slam wonder is this girl.
Gorgeus raducanu😍
On est là !
Raducanu got the key! she will win over 4 grand slam single titles.
Goes to show she learns quickly, having lost to Zhang just several weeks prior 2 + 3...
This girl’s on fire.
Emma is amazing.
Super fire from Emma!!
Yes, she is hot.
@@gerardobaltodano she is a attractive tennis female player😊😊😊♥️♥️♥️
@@jamiewhitney4724 Of course yes. I am not saying the opposite.
@@jamiewhitney4724 Of course she is, because she doesn't have British blood, obviously. [This is just a "joke", the same way British people "joke" when calling a certain country full of white thieves and dark skinned thieves]
She has such a likeable personality 😍😍
I'd like to say unbelievable, but I'm not actually sure there's anything Emma could do on the court now that I wouldn't believe. The skill, fire and intensity she's bringing to these matches is incredible.
Răducanu ,Young,smart and fast!
Future star with GS probably
Hopefully she doesn't end up like Laura Robson
I think that worry has been laid to rest😂
predicted perfectly
Don't forget, everyone she played was at a higher seed than her - from round 1 to the final!
Mabuhay ka Emma. Your legion of Filipino fans are rooting for you!
Shouldn't you have been rooting for Leylah ?
@@boke75 Yes, I did too in a separate post. Thanks for noticing

british evonne goolagong , loved and talent
Only 2 sets?
She has so many fans
Sorry to see those two playing this early.
Why are they playing music during the match?
Well done! But Raducanu has a very tough draw, Tormo's harsh grunts at 3rd round, and world's No. 1 at 4th.
A brilliant test to see exactly where her level lies.
Shelby Rogers - hold my beer....
I love watching Emma play. But let’s not forget Zhang. Probably the best all around player ever. Zhang just never had the power that’s needed to be great in today’s game. Power wins unfortunately not strategy or placement or great net play. No one today plays the net. Just smack it as hard as you can. But hail to Emma. Hoping she will continue to win. Great player.
Totally agree
Chinese Hingis.
Bro… you should see Shuai vs Raducanu San Jose open. She completely destroyed Raducanu with power.
@@boke75 But HIngis did not have power. She was my favorite player for about 6 years, she was pretty and very skilled but her disadvantage was that she lacked power.
@@UchihABitachi But that match was very strange, Shuai was impressive, as is she could wiin 3 Slams in a year, BUT I can not understand why she, at 32 years age, NEVER has won a singles tournament, and in 2021 she has 17 wins and 21 loss. I think she played the match of her life in San JOse, but now Emma is very superior.
how was 1:41 not a let? It sounded so much like a let I'm so confused.
Yeah I think it was another noise which happened to coincide with the ball passing the net
It does, but I think it's an echo of the serve bouncing around the court.
Better late than never.. it's her feet landing.
She's pretty no wonder she's getting this much hype. But I can see she's more than just a pretty face. Maybe a future gs winner
How an 18 yr old should behave.
Do you mean Zhang or Raducanu?
@@oatsgoats39 I mean Emma has had less experience at this level compared to Coco as she took a year out to focus on her education so this is some great stuff from Emma. She’s got a win percentage in the high 70’s on the pro circuit too so she’s looking promising.
@@jgooner894 Exactly - education vs money
@@kimacronym2521 I don’t know much about Coco’s background. Does she have a rich family?
Emma❤❤😍😍😊❤️❤️ !!!
Pretty and talented
here after seeing her destroy bencic in straight sets
Sweet revenge.
The crowds got bigger and bigger ...
Lovely touch and reading of the game ! She’s drop dead cute too
aye that’s me with the flag on the right
Umpire saying "Ra-DU-CA-nu" instead of "Ra-du-CA-nu". Apparently, Romanians emphasize only the 3rd syllable as a "KA".
This girl is going to be a MEGA-STAR! I’m gutted that I have all the available sport channels in the UK & not one is broadcasting the US Open…..shocking!!! Go Emma 💪👊👍
Yep it's unbelievable. The UK channels will only get interested if she collapses or cries, but she might get a mention on the news if she reaches the 2nd week.
If you have Amazon prime you can watch her on there if not it’s free to sign up for 30 days.

A month earlier Zhang beat her badly at San Jose. This girl is a fast learner.
1:56 what's with the drumming?
Fortunately she played against Shuai Zhang one month ago
Her slide looks so much athletic 👟 Unbelievable talented
Watch out for the hype. Please media be gentle and not to ecstatic about this girl. You see how much hate Gauff gets because of hypeing someone.
Well said
hate gauff poker face
they're already hyping her up excessively
I don't think it's just the hype. There's almost certainly something else at play. Can't quite put my finger on it....
@@justicegusting2476 "Black supremacy" ? You mean Black equality ? BTW, don't get that WOKE-crazed BLM into this, please.
Some of Raducanu's cross court shots are so accurate that Zhang has no chance to return them even though she is inches away from the ball! 😀
Yeah, that confident hitting big winners into the corner again and again is the hallmark of a champion.
That's exactly what Zhang did to her two weeks before.
Zhang, no 😭
That's my girl...
She reminds me of Ivanovic!
Mmmmm now we know
Canadian Romanian Chinese English woman in New York.
Did she end up dropping her racket after every match? ;)
Raducanu moves like she's playing on clay. All that sliding.
Emma is way better than all the teenagers now on tour.. I hope fame and media will not drown her like others ..
Was onlybad luck about Wimbledon
who else came here after watching their last match in St. Jose?
I did. It’s important I let you know this.
Me - couldn't believe the difference.
Move over coco
No need to move over. Radacanu is going straight through her. Gouff was utter dross today. Stevens didn't even break sweat to dump her out. This young girl is playing way beyond her ranking and looking an immense talent for the future.
If she gets a show court she will have anxiety again, hopefully she won't, I say if she really pulls it out she can go deep
Nah she seems to be enjoying that, she likes playing on the big stage against top players. I think she’s over what happened at Wimbledon which was partly physical she’s insinuated in interviews. She hasn’t been used to playing the kind of rallies at this level and she had some tough ones in that R4 match at the end of that first set.
Don’t worry. John McEnroe will always be there for her.
Deep like winning the whole thing you mean😂😂
Next round opponent is a pusher.
Quite a few women's tennis players it feels struggle for the confidence to play well, and Shuai Zhang is definitely one of them. Raducanu's high pressure game never let Zhang get comfortable and she spend the whole match with a face that had already lost. Will be interesting to see how she does against someone who doesn't wilt.
"with a face that had already lost" < Probably the edit in this video by US Open/WTA was to make Zhang looking "lost"?
She is cute!!
Who went to see this young lady play on clay

you may not know, Emma Raducanu is also a half-Chinese
@bumdog nationality, yes

I bet Emma will lose in Round 3 :)
Random stuff…….probably right
Emma gets zero attention from American media ……..they are so busy pushing the overhyped and overrated Coco Gauff……..who was favored against but got absolutely destroyed by Sloan. I know she’s British but c’mon give credit where credit is due. This girl is great for tennis.
Not a problem ,.let the young develope without so much pressure , give them time for Pete's sake .
much better to fly under the radar at this stage
And so is Coco. At 17 she's ranked in the top 25, has two WTA titles to her name and has been a grandslam quarterfinalist, reaching 4th round or better of 3 of the 4 grandslams and has also beaten players like Osaka, Barty and Sabalenka (having a better h2h against the latter two). Just because she lost to Stephens who's also a former grandslam champion does not make her 'overrated'. Stop showing your bias and give credit where it's due.
I reckon both will be doing quite well in the future. No clue what american media says about Gauff (and hopefully it won't mess with her head) but she surely can have a great future
Gauff is 1.5 years younger than Raducanu and has 2 WTA titles. Gauff is ranked 24, Raducanu is 150. World number 150 in men's and women's tennis normally get very little attention.
Why didn't she take that floater on match point with her forehand?
looked like the sun
Floaters can be very hard to dispatch...
@@ForestKicks She could have flushed that crosscourt though.
Romanian and Chinese. Born in Canada. Now British. Interesting.
Laughable isn't it. She's about as 'British' as a Moose ridden by a Mountie!!! LOL
@Max E What about them? They win Gold Medals don't they??? lol
@@leesanders6610 She was only born in Canada as her parent were working there. Got to Britain at 2 and has been there ever since.
don't think she can win a slam as don't think she can defend as well. very little body weight/muscle (intrinsic). If her front foot tennis continues to improve (pin point accuracy) she'll go far and perhaps prove me wrong.
Oh ye of little faith😂😂
Two Chinese !!!!
Ethnicity: Romanian, Chinese and Canadian Nationality: British
@@LingLiu2014 Exactly
@@LingLiu2014 Is Canadian in her ethnicity? I know she was born there, but I thought she was just Romanian & Chinese? Anyway, I think it's lovely we live in a world where somebody has close ties to four nations - People like her are our future 🙌🏻
Seriously don't know why she's called 'British', she doesn't have an ounce of 'British blood' in her genes! She has a Romanian Father, and a Chinese Mother, so that makes her 50% Romanian and 50% Chinese!!! LOL.
@Max E Where is the 'British' in 50% Romanian and 50% Chinese??? I don't see no British there. Or are you happy to offend both of her parents????
Pathetic
