And that is to say, the script was probably better than the actual film. Fun fact, the director negated the writers and the scripts when they filmed this movie, so none of the scenes actually turned out the way they were suppose to. When the writers reacted to the scenes they were completely surprised by how they actually turned out!

This one actually had a much larger budget than the first one. The problem was that Ed Boon pressed for a second movie because he was trying to promote MK4. The main problem was that they wrote a script, but the script was so bad no one wanted to come back outside of a few actors. So, with no time to get a new script and everyone leaving the project, the movie guys just promoted whoever remained, so the guy who did Principal photography became Director. So you had a bunch of inexperienced people being given the top positions, in a position where they were being rushed out to bring a film into being. The end result was this.

Growing up my old man never commented on any games I played or movies I watched except this one. One weekend we went to the movie store and rented it. Back home I sat on the living room floor totally engrossed in the movie and my old man who had sat in silence in his recliner reading a book the entire time out of the blue looked up and said "this movie was never shown in theaters, was it" then went back to his book, lol. I’ve seen a bunch of memes about this movie, but ever since I started watching it past the age of 12 I always noticed how stupid that was. (Full disclosure I saw this movie opening weekend in ‘97, I was 8 and thought it was a masterpiece)

When I was a kid my parents found a wallet that belonged to the actor who played Shoa Kahn. We returned it to his address and he welcomed us into his home and showed us a sneak peak of his new movie Mortal Kombat Annihilation. He showed us how he killed Johnny Cage, it was still in the early stages because the background was green screened. He had like three baby pigs running around his home, and he gave us posters with his signature written on them. I was and still am a HUGE MK fan, so by the time we left I could not believe what we got to experience.

Yet, she also might’ve had also stored all of those souls in that movie within her “Soul Container” (which is a universe-sized vault that stores souls that, rather than being killed once their respective timelines gets erased clean and restarted anew, instead being weaponized by Kronika for her future invasions of other franchises once she made her own perfect New Era), just like she did to those in The Journey Begins animated film.
I can’t believe Robin Shou (Liu Kang) actually came back for this one. He must have felt some kind of obligation to the fanbase or something cuz this film is definitely beneath him.
Seriously, he and Talisa Soto really tried to deliver for fans by sticking around and it’s just not at all worth their time or effort.
He was friends with the guy who did the recordings for lui kang in the original mk game

When the writers reacted to the scenes they were completely surprised by how they actually turned out!

It's not about the budget. It's all about lack of time...
Just because it's sold there, doesn't mean you have to give it GameStop prices.
This one actually had a much larger budget than the first one. The problem was that Ed Boon pressed for a second movie because he was trying to promote MK4. The main problem was that they wrote a script, but the script was so bad no one wanted to come back outside of a few actors. So, with no time to get a new script and everyone leaving the project, the movie guys just promoted whoever remained, so the guy who did Principal photography became Director. So you had a bunch of inexperienced people being given the top positions, in a position where they were being rushed out to bring a film into being. The end result was this.

Growing up my old man never commented on any games I played or movies I watched except this one. One weekend we went to the movie store and rented it. Back home I sat on the living room floor totally engrossed in the movie and my old man who had sat in silence in his recliner reading a book the entire time out of the blue looked up and said "this movie was never shown in theaters, was it" then went back to his book, lol. There was one MK video I watched and a comment said that Shao Kahn talks like he’s always on the verge of crying and I can’t unsee that.
When I was a kid my parents found a wallet that belonged to the actor who played Shoa Kahn. We returned it to his address and he welcomed us into his home and showed us a sneak peak of his new movie Mortal Kombat Annihilation. He showed us how he killed Johnny Cage, it was still in the early stages because the background was green screened. He had like three baby pigs running around his home, and he gave us posters with his signature written on them. I was and still am a HUGE MK fan, so by the time we left I could not believe what we got to experience.
