We’re switching up from our previous adrenaline-packed project and taking this one nice and slow. And by ‘slow’ we mean the speed at which electromagnetic waves transmit signals through wiring, something on the order of 95% the speed of light. So yeah, hella slow...Our goal with this project is to replace a simple household ceiling light with an awesome cloud lamp that contains 150 dynamically controlled LEDs.
In case you want to build your own cloud lamp we're making the instructions and Arduino code available for download:

Feel free to leave suggestions for any future projects!
I'm telling you: Very Very soon this chanel will explode. It will be the only thing nerds watch, and it will keep on getting bigger!!!
Agreed! It's so rare to find this type of content
Its horrible that people with this much talent doesnt get rewarded like other big youtibers with less talent
turns out you were wrong.
You got proofed wrong my guy.
Lol forgot all about this comment, I still have faith tho
All hail the glow cloud.
All hail the mighty Glow Cloud.
Allllllll haaaaaaaailllllllllllllllllllll.
that escalated quickly
ALL HAIL
ShawtyRina I
I expect this to be a very popular channel in the near future! Subbed!
My nigga i fucken died when he brought out the lotion and tp 💀💀
This is the most amazing project ever, im sooo doing this next christmas! keep beeing awesome
wow you guys are absolutely great keep up the hard work!
Like a lot of other people in the comments I'd love to see a more in depth build guide. The layout on your website helped a lot, but progress pics or video is the way to go for DIY. On my part I'd love to see how you wired the actual lanterns/LED stips, and where you put the arduino and prototype board when hanging the cloud. Other than that I guess I have to say I'm digging the vidoes.
This might be my new favourite channel.. You guys kickass
This is probably one of the best KZhead channels, can't wait for it to grow massive, keep up the good work ps I just watched all of your videos.
I love the videography!! I’ve never seen something like the online shopping sequence before. Well done the cloud is kickass!!!
Who needs disco lights when you got this cloud thingy?!
This channel is awesome. I'm really surprised you guys don't have more subs!
What a nerdy channel.. I like it!
This is a great channel, it suits my tastes perfectly with engineering and humor combined. Along with a few puns here and there. Subscribed!
heck yes. so happy I found an engineering channel
this is literally LIT!
Awesome 2nd video. Keep on the good work
+Colinear Productions Thanks! We'll do our best :)
love the editing
this is so cool and I'm new to channel can't wait to see the awesome videos you post
I love your vids! They are all really funny and cool!
thanks sugas this is amazing can't wait
2:30 romantic alone evenings :P
This is a really great project. It can have lots of uses (ambient light, parties or events) and is also pretty approachable. I've been looking at the Adafruit NeoPixel Digital RGBW LED Strip and some sketches that let you program RGBW led's to mix into different kinds of white light (warm, natural, incandescent). That combine with this project could really add to a room's atmosphere.
Great video gents. Cant wait to see what you think up next!!! I hope your videos really take off ^_^
"Those romantic evenings". Good one! I must build this.. Subscribed.
Great content, guys!
Great video, I liked the Alt + F + 4 on the keyboard
You mean Alt + F4?
omg!! I love listening to the sounds of a thunderstorm to fall asleep so this would be perfect! Make me one! lol
This is so sick. Love it.
sooo cool XD. Now i will build some clouds. keep going
You guys are a rarity on youtube. Really amazing content yo.
+TeaDrinkingIlluminati Means a lot to us! It's a win win because these are super fun projects to make! - Ryan
+Eclectical Engineering Id imagine, yeah
Could you please make a video on how you constructed it and made it Bluetooth?!? I would love this in my dorm
It's easy enough that you can google it
Hell to tha YES!!! You guys soooo remind me of myself about 100 yrs ago when I started out as an eLeCtRoNiCs engineer. That was back in the dinosaur age, the early 70's. When we had to work with individual components like resistors, capacitors and magic rocks (aka transistors). I will have one of your cloud lights in my LR very soon. Thanks so much for helping an old fart keep my geek on.
Great video guys +Eclectical Engineering
Found you guys through Mark Rober's channel. Thought this was pretty cool, though a little more explanation on how you built it would have been nice. Keep up the good work!
Wait how did you do all the electrical stuff? I really want to do this but you lost me when you started putting it together
i would really like to see a video on how to make one of this like the wire-ring and electrical that is needed to make one
OMG you guys are so funny 😂 I love this channel
This channel has amazing and creative content. I know you guys are going to do fantastic. Can't wait to see more videos and see your channel explode! (not literally of course. You guys can leave the exploding part for the watermelons)
You guys are hilarious! Awesome video!
I love your videos!
i liked it as more than just a friend.
I have to comment on how much I appreciated the Alt+F4 joke.
thank you. finally.
+Eclectical Engineering Everyone who didnt get it cant find the video again :p
Thats so cool im subscribing keep it up
Ty, amazing video and work
looks damn good .. you guys should start some kickstarter for the best projects you got... get into business while doing what you love !!!
loved this video more then just a friend so I subscribed lol.
best youtuber ever. Thanks for adding romania
This is awesome I wish I had one
GREAT video! it was absolutely sick! "BLAGGHHH!"
any way to add a Bluetooth speaker to play thunder sounds?
do they ever heat up to the point where it's a fire hazerd
Guys, awesome video. I LOL'd hard.
This is too awseome i am thinking about doing this! it would look so cool, I thought of that if you got anny spare time xD you could create an app that would be able to control the cloud :3 awesome video keep up the awesome work :D
Wow soo cool might make one my self
How much would you charge to make one and ship it?
nice vids guys keep up
How do you make the cloud Bluetooth?
This guys are awesome
awesome video! Do I have to use the Ona, or is a Ardruino Nano also working?
and does the code function then? i have no idea about programming
What y’all use for the wire around the strip lights
AMAZING!
Il be making something along those linein the near future
+TeaDrinkingIlluminati Cool! If you want to follow ours as reference, we have a link to a write up and code download in the vid description. :)
Eclectical Engineering Yup... Could you provide a schematic? I have PCB but it has justt holes so a schematic might be useful
+TeaDrinkingIlluminati Yup. A basic schematic is also on the same page as the write up.
Eclectical Engineering oh, my bad lol
hahaha alt+F4 xP I love it! You guys are great!!!!
please please ad a link for were I can buy the exact lights you did.thanks nice job guys.
+Mimi Kauker Hi Mimi, check out our write up where we have a complete material list and links to everything bought. www.eclectical-engineering.com/projects/featured-projects/project-2-cloud-lamp/
Would you be able to connect the lighting to sync with the beat of music?
Alright. I'm getting that for my room! I can probably convince my parents to let me... Right guys?
Sean's Universe yes yes you can
did you get it
@@jadaj lmao this comment is three years old. but to answer your question, no, because now i have to share a room with my brother. im 17. i really don't want to.
Summer projects when us college kids have nothing to do 👍🏻
could i just order one of these from you guys?
super cool
I'm currently making this but will only be using 4 30led strips instead of 5 like you guys. what changes to the code do I need to make
I'm having trouble with power. I ran a standard 5v 2a wall wart to the arduino and a 5v 10amp to my board. All wiring matches schematic but the leds power off randomly . They don't do so when just the arduino is powered. Any thoughts?
So how did you hide/connect the wires and how did you turn it into Bluetooth?
The original bulb that they replaced with the led cloud is called circline fluorescent light. Not quite dead yet :)
this is cool
I am about to order some of the LED strips for this project but I want to make it smaller how could I go about this?
Somehow I Feel Hurt. 1:14 😂😂😂
Is that OSH on Ashby in Berkeley?
yup! Good eye
Lol "if you don't like it hit alt f4 on ur keyboard" 😂😂
2:10 lolz looking like a hot cheeto when in orange light
I wonder if it would be possible to be able to connect these lights to zigbee channel? (Wireless electronic ballast FLS-PP lp with Power PWM interface for RGBW and RGB lights (12/24V LED/LED stripes), ZigBee certified product)
But how did you get it to stay on the ceiling? What did you use?
the music is awesome!! how are they?
What lights did you use?
Awesome!
This was is epic
The orange cloud looks like a Cheeto
Where did you get the lights ????
That is so cool just needs lighting bolts lol
Nice video
What are you using to control it? Do the lights have a mini computer that has Bluetooth?
nononono. He is using some sort of Arduino connected to a BLE module to control the light.
Tacocat 4642 Oh okay. :)
Please re link the instruction web page again. Thanks
Can you make this sinc with music? I'm working on a similar cloud but including a mic. the colors change based on the music's intensity. It seems like it'd be a lot simpler if I could just communicate the songs thru blue tooth
So were all the colored light strips all in a chain? So basically, it's like a long train, but just looks like it did a U turn?
So cool
Put links of where you got supplies
How did you connect it to Bluetooth
Superb idea. :) ;)
What's the music name?
I was under the impression that they would actually show how to do-it-yourself.
