In his tenure, Alex Trebek hosted more than 8000 episodes. Unfortunately, his recent death was a blow to all Jeopardy! fans.
However, to honor the great television personality, the producers have decided to keep the show running. As they search for a new permanent face of the series, Jeopardy! has been running with guest hosts who are taking turns at the lectern.
This video will look at the official Nielsen ratings for all the guest hosts so far.
Dr. Oz was the first guest for Jeopardy! to have experience hosting a show. To that point, he seemed very comfortable on screen. However, many fans thought Oz was a controversial choice.
As a television journalist, Katie Couric is no stranger to being on air. In her career, she has racked up credits on many news programs. As the first woman to host Jeopardy, her premier happened on international women’s day.
Aaron Rodgers, the MVP quarterback of the Green Bay Packers, is perhaps the strangest choice to host the game show. However, the NFL star is a long-time fan of the show and a previously winning contestant. Rodgers has not kept it a secret that he wants to be the permanent host of the series.
The final two hosts were both already part of the Jeopardy! universe. Mike Richards is a producer behind the camera on the show. Though he did not have much, time to prepare, his stint as the guest was very well received.
Finally, Ken Jennings, the greatest champion in the history of Jeopardy!, scored the highest ratings as a guest host.
There are many more guest hosts planned before a permanent host is selected. We look forward to seeing who comes next.

Ken Jennings is a 75-time Jeopardy champion―74-time regular, 1-time tournament. He's earned the right to host.
Agreed
Ken is the best qualified, smartest, and most entertaining of all the possible hosts. I’ll keep watching, if he gets the honor.

Ken is the best Alex would approve. I haven't liked any of the others.
I don't care to watch jeopardy anymore. It isn't the same without ken
Ken Jennings had enough class to add, "Thank you, Alex," when he signed off.
i think that the game was rigged from day one for him to win, for him to be the replacement
He is a natural fit.... and that thought had crossed my mind as well!!!! After Ken my next pick would be Anderson Cooper.... he did it effortlessly and had a good flow plus he is quite knowledgeable being a champion on the show himself....
@@nobodyspecial6436 Cooper will kill Jeopardy if he's the host. His anti-American politics will hex the show.
@@middlefinger1565 You Must Be A Brain Washed Trump Supporter. Tragic.
@@raylee3549 yes and why not? Sometimes the obvious choice is obvious for a good reason. Like a vacation in Paris.
Ken Jennings is the person for the job
Ken Jennings because he had enough class to add "Thank you, Alex." after he signed off after every episode during his tenure as guest host.
Ken Jennings is my choice.
Mike Richards and Buzzy Cohen were both excellent (as hard as it is to take someone named Buzzy seriously).
I agree!
I have an Uncle Buzzy. I don't think I take him seriously.
Mike Richards did very well as guest host, and only had 3 days to prepare. However Ken Jennings is my 1st choice
Aaron Rogers. His relaxed approach and low key humor fit the show perfectly.
He was the best for sure!!!
Brent Spiner, as Data! In a polite but firm tone of voice, “That is incorrect. You must format your response in the form of a question.”
Who is, I like Buzzy? Lol
My son in law was in the other room when Mike Richard was hosting jeopardy and said he sounded like Alex Trabex, we like him the best. I'm 81 and like Alex his voice is easy to understand. ALOHA
Pulls a very close 2nd after Ken
Even before his stint began, Ken was such an obvious choice. Then he entered the arena...he is a natural, the natural.
I dont. Like. Ken. Jennings. I. Dont. Think. He. Is. Good. Looking. Enought Now. Alex. Was. Wow. In. Looks. And. Sexty. Too.
They are having all of these guest hosts because absolutely no one can take Alex Trebek's place.
Buzzy Cohen is a natural. He also has the personality to keep people watching.
X2
Buzzy was relaxed and seemed as if he had been a host for a long time
Buzzy and Mike Richards have been the 2 best guest-hosts.
You have to hand it to Buzzy with his lack of experience. He made it look easy. Even if he don't get the Jeopardy job, he has a future as a game show host.
So far I like Buzzy better than anyone.
@@jameslowery7557 I'm still an Aaron Rodgers fan, but Buzzy would be an exceptional choice.
I liked Ken Jennings and Mike Richards a lot... but I agree with you guys that Buzzy has been very good. So much so that I wasn't even evaluating his performance -- I was just watching the show.
Buzzy has made me look forward to watching again. He loves the game and lets the contestants shine.
Buzzy was one of the best guest hosts, plus he had credibility as a past multi-game winner. But Buzzy had worn goofy outfits and goofy hair when he was a contestant, and perhaps Jeopardy didn't seriously consider him as host material - even though he was dressed pretty conservatively during his hosting duties.
Buzzy Cohen. His voice has an entertaining drama. Well paced, and a fresh fun animation to his facial features.
Aaron Rogers. Laid back but in total control. Perfect timing
More like Aarrogant and smug.
@@O-D-X Aaron Rodgers was horrible as host very bland and brought no energy to the show and just has no personality to host Jeopardy, but also to be a broadcaster after he is done playing football
GOAT Ken Jennings. Why? because he has a natural humble way about him. A very likable understatement. And of course he is super intelligent, and holds so much respect for Jeopardy and total admiration for the great Alex Trebek. I also found Aaron Rogers very likable and did a very good job.
I agree.
Nope. There are as many women in the Jeopardy audience as men and we aren't fans of Aaron simply because he was a good footballer, we want someone who is humble. Ken, hmmm, perhaps not as humble as you believe.
@@VisualizeHealing Mike Richards #1
@@sherriheadaccordion Nope. Mayim Bialik is a rock star host. Alex would be proud! Mike is a nice guy and a great producer, loved Alex and yet he has more the energy of a Price is Right host.
@@VisualizeHealing I do like Mayim but prefer Mike! Just think we don’t need someone who is already a celebrity! Let’s just hope Jeopardy gets it right!
I like Ken of course, but Buzzy was really good when I saw him as host last night.
I was going to say the exact same thing!
I think busy is perfect
Ken Jennings is definitely my top pick. With his 74-day streak on Jeopardy, participation in many of Jeopardy's special events, a guest host session that lasted longer than any other guest host, and him closing each episode with the phrase "Thank you, Alex", I think he would be the best for the job. I also strongly liked Mike Richards, Aaron Rodgers, Buzzy Cohen, Mayim Bialik, and LeVar Burton.
Thanks for watching!
@@FactsVerse You're welcome.
It's close for me between Aaron Rodgers & Buzzy Cohen. They are both charming, articulate, & charismatic. The best 2 so far!!!
My opinion also!
Who are you?@@IngefromGraz mmmmmm1mmqmq and
I agree. Buzzy was one of my favorite contestants, and he and Aaron are both smart and lively personalities, and very handsome!
Could they share the job? Buzzy could host during football season, and then Aaron could take over the rest of the year.
@@lillianfraijo6621 I love that idea, as they are my two favorites, by far!
Ken Jennings is a perfect choice. Knows the material, has wit and charm, and truly respected his friend Alex Trebek. 👍🙋♀️
I second that.
👍
Nope
Maybe a TREE STUMP before Dr. Ooooz!
Buzzy and Ken also have class ,pleasure to watch
Buzzy is the best so far. He has an excellent personality for hosting, a presentation ability that dynamically moves the show forward , he is also the quickest to respond to a contestant's response, this is important, and he shows a love for the game. If he doesn't get the permanent gig, then it ought to be Ken.
Agree 100% about Buzzy, however, Aaron Rodgers is my choice over Ken, who is fourth on my list after Cooper Anderson.
To be fair, Cohen wasn't hosting a bunch of first time players. Not exactly apples and oranges.
The guy on this week, Buzzy Cohen, definitely ads a spark. His personality is a natural for this show. I hope they choose him.
Ken Jennings IS the face of Jeopardy. Love him.
Buzzy seems very comfortable and natural as the host. It would be a shame if he doesn't at least get offered the full time job.
X2
X3
Ken Jensen absolutely no contest, as long as he is willing.
Top guest hosts...in no particular order...in my humble opinion...based on their rapport with the contestants, their rhythm and modulation of speech, and their enthusiasm for the game...Mike Richards, Ken Jennings, Buzzy Cohen and now I must add Mayim Bialik...All were delights to watch .
I thought Mayim Bialik was horrible. I thought her appearance was all about her.
@@rexraider9834 I didn't get that at all. She seemed to me genuinely excited to be a part of Jeopardy.
I did not like Richrds at all.
Liked Aaron Rogers the best. So relaxed, competent and his voice very pleasing.
He’s cute, too.
Mike Richards was awesome and his obvious respect and love for Alex was very touching. He is intelligent and professional
👍👍AND good looking. Clean-shaven is a definite plus!!!
Mike Richards and buzzy Cohen are great choices
@joannwalton my vote too, second place to Anderson Cooper.
Ken Jennings is the best to date. Remember Alex's wish was to have Ken keep Jeopardy going. In respect for Alex I think we should honor his wishes.
Buzzy cohen has been terrific; he seems like a natural-born TV personality.
Plus he already has the name Buzzy.
Just watched last night's show, May 31, with Mayim Bialik.. She was great!
Mike Richards or Aaron Rogers, in that order...so far!
Buzzy Cohen has the voice, the enthusiasm, the charisma, the pacing, and an infectious love of the game. It is nice to know that he and Ken Jennings aren't just reading the answers; they already know most of them and have earned the right to be there. I would look forward to seeing Buzzy's unique look and energetic countenance every night,
Buzzy!
Would love to see Buzzy Cohen be the host of Jeopardy host. He has the knowledge and personality for the job!!

He did a great job.
I totally agree with you.
Yes!
Ken Jennings is our favorite. We shut the others off.
We like him too, Mary!
Richards, Fuzzy, and Arron.
Aaron Rogers and Buzzy Cohen so far are the very best.
rogers is a stiff
@@markv.5962 I agree. He opposes the Keystone Pipeline deal. He's in the tank with Kaepernick, likewise.
Aaron Rogers. He was great and connects with the audience. He will only get better.
IIRC, he has a non-compete clause, which is why he didn't do a Championship Match. I suspect he will be the permanent host very soon- non-competes only last a couple years. Unless the PTB stick with the temp service...
I agree. He just needs a voice coach (a bit too monotone and flat) and experience. Jeopardy! is so nothing like a NFL game! He was def prepared, knowledgeable and we all know he is able to be dedicated to the game.
Mike Richards has the best speaking. The best rhythm. He is young, good looking and smart. Ken Jennings was also very good.
They have had several excellent guest hosts. I liked Ken Jennings, Mike Richards and Aaron Rodgers. I am really enjoying Mayim Bialik this week! I look forward to seeing Lavar Burton. This has been fun. When the time is right, i think they will have plenty of good options to choose from.
I wouldn't put much weight in the ratings in determining who gets the job, because most people are watching the show because of the show, not who's the host. I'm also unsure which hosts are really serious about doing the show full time. Anyway, whoever it is must like doing it for the long term. Will they still like it and have the same enthusiasm after doing the gig for 1,000 shows, in the same way for after doing it for only 10 shows?
Mike Richards is a natural!
Yeah I like him and ken Jennings
IMHO Mike Richards is best suited behind the scenes.
So far, Mike Richards and Mayim Bialik are my two faves, but I loved Aaron Rodgers, too. All three were easy to understand, were courteous to and had fun with the contestants, and felt familiar to all my senses, just the way Alex did. I'm 75 and a life-long loyal watcher of the show.
Neither.
Buzzy Cohen 100%
Ken Kennings is best host. He gets excited with the players and is a natural to host this show.
I think it should Arron Rodgers he was really good and my second choice would be ken Jennings
Aaron Rogers. Relaxed and funny. Then Ken. Then Buzzy.
Ken Jennings all the way!
Aaron is great! And this comes from a non-football fan, who arrogantly assumed that he would be an idiot.

Dr. Oz Guest Host On Jeopardy So Many Times Better Than The Late Alex Trebek Host On Jeopardy
Aaron Rogers...pleasant,unassuming, casual....most like Alex
Aaron RODGERS ... Egotistical, Arrogant, Asshat ... least like Alex
Ken Jennings and Aaron Rodgers were my two best guest hosts.
AGREED!! Those two were amazing. I looked forward to watching Jen in the hosting role....but I was super surprised to discover how much I enjoyed Aaron’s stint as well; I was not expecting to. I also really enjoyed Mike Richards. But Ken....remains my vote for the permanent Jeopardy! host. :)
@@CindyCastroPacheco I also agree with you and Teresa S. Jennings nailed it for me in the beginning, yet I found Aaron most delightful as well. Great wit!
Aaron Rodgers said he wanted to do Jeopardy and still play football. I thought he did a great job but that would be a deal breaker for me.
I have a suggestion that they put put some categories on the show on Canada since Alex Trebek was originally from Canada there's not enough on the show about Canada
I like Mike Richards the best. He was the only one who seems to have the right rhythm.
Agreed. His timing and flow on stage was superb!
I ment Rogers was like a robot not Mike Richard's he was great
I too loved watching Mike as host...and it’s not surprising his timing was superb....he’s been upfront and personal with Alex during the taping of so many Jeopardy! episodes. However, I think Ken is absolutely the fitting host. If (as mentioned in other comments) Ken doesn’t seem like the host type, we need to remember that he has no hosting experience and his TV gigs have been as a contestant for the most part....so give him a break. With hosting experience...and with all his other qualities and abilities, he will be amazing in that role.
@@CindyCastroPacheco Yeah. I don't disagree. When I think about it, Ken is skilled enough to develop all of the nuances necessary to be a great Jeaopardy host.
I was a faithful fan of Jeopardy for over 20 years. My vote to Ken Jennings, a fresh face.
The second host I believe was a producer. He has been the most natural and seems the best fit
Mike Richards

You might catch flack, but you shouldn't because everyone is entitled to their own opinion, including you. My opinion is Buzzy for permanent host.
I just wish they would name someone permanently soon.
Me too. I couldn't be more eager.
Mike Richards orKenJennings!
I really wasn't happy with they announced Buzzy was one of the guest hosts, but then I really didn't feel "comfortable" with anyone but Anderson Cooper and we know he's not quitting his day job to host Jeopardy...BUT after watching Buzzy for a week I felt very comfortable with him. Although we have more coming, especially LeVar Burton (Alex's choice to replace him at the end) I'm hoping that Buzzy is given the job. It seemed that Buzzy was very comfortable from the start, he's a natural. I'm a Buzzy-girl!!
I agree.
Again---Anderson Cooper no more Jeopardy!!!!!
Ken SHOULD win...he was great and unlike the others, he earned his chance and did not get a shot just by being a celebrity.
Ken Jennings and Mark Rogers were my 2 favorite Jeopardy hosts.
Meant Mark Richards
Mike Richards :)
I really liked Buzzy Cohen, followed by Aaron Rogers (which was a surprise to me!) and Mike Richards.
I was surprised too about Buzzy. He has my vote so far.
Really liked Aaron Rodgers and of course Ken Jennings. I think Jeopardy is going to have a hard choice to make!
I would have loved to see any “Saturday Night Live” alum past or present hosting “Jeopardy!”

Ken Jennings with AAron Rogers a close secound
YES!! Agreed!
Ken is the best, but Buzzy runs a very close second. I’d love to see either one.
Ken's voice is not pleasing.
I have to be honest. Mike Richards was the next best thing to Alex. He voice is strong, timing is refined, and presence is amazing. I agree with Jemina Lal, Ken is great but his voice presence is missing.
@@syeedode9610 thank you sir. You are a gentleman and a scholar.
