Have we ever seen a domestic match of this caliber before? Taylor is the favorite to win an Olympic gold at 86kg. He's beaten all the best in the world at that weight. Burroughs has an Olympic gold already, plus four more world golds, and was just seconds away from winning a gold medal at the 2019 world championships. Both wrestlers still firing on all cylinders. JB steps up to 86 for a rematch seven years in the making.

End of an Era. RESPECT to Jordan Burroughs, been the ambassador of USA wrestling for almost a decade. 9 straight World/Olympic teams, 8x Medalist, 5x World/Olympic Champion. No doubt in my mind that he will win the 79kg spot for the World Team in a couple of months and go on to medal or even win another World Title.
How is it the end of an era if he’s still probably going to win another world title? You even said so yourself?

@@jesvinmathew5103 I disagree. This match was at 86kg which is 2 weight classes up from what Jordan usually wrestles at. And Dake and JB had a close fought match at 74kg and Jordan could very well come back to lay claim to his weight division if they wrestle again.
@@Truebrotha Jordan is going to be 36 when he decides to move back down to 74kg for 2024 Olympics. He can definitely do it but it's going to be hard to beat a younger tactical wrestler like dake. Dake is the only wrestler to shut burroughs down in his international career, that's saying something

@@israel8698 Dake may beat him last time but he is not as the same level as Burroughs. Burroughs is 5 time world champ, 3 times bronze medalist and Olympic Gold Medalist. Dake has not such achievements.

I don’t think we’re getting prime JB back. He couldn’t score a takedown on Frank, DT, or Dake. That’s not the jb of old, that’s just an old jb.

Naaaw, JB just needs to Detox, Take a half year off, take some EPO, etc and get a progressive trainer focusing on his speed and explosiveness and he will be fine. oh its true, its true!
JB' is at the point every great athlete eventually gets to. And that is when you're no longer at 100% of your peak. Now he's only maybe 90 - 95%. But that wont do it against guys like Dake or Taylor. I think he should retire. If JB doesn't retire we still won't see him on another world team.
I am just hoping for one more season of JB back on his game. Either way hes a legend...
These two are wrestling at different weight classes. Taylor is 86 kg, Burroughs is only 74 kg. That's a good 12 kg difference. LoL. Good try, but no chance for the smaller guy at this level.

As an Iranian, I like these boys but nowadays DT is better. I love DT and Hassan Yazdani wrestling matches. both of them are very good wrestlers.
74 and 86 two different weight category, Burroughs too old to switch to heavier wt... yazdani will also struggle to beat Mohammadian

Kyle Dake wins when strength and conditioning are the deciding factor. Kyle Dake loses EVERY time skill is the deciding factor.

@@greatstate58 DT was in control of this match from start to finish. at no point did JB present any sort of legit threat in this match, his points at the end were all garbage scores that DT was allowing to run out the clock. i counted one legit shot JP was able to get in on. not even close.

@@Fiteclipz prime JB could blast double anyone he wanted to. Glad i was able to witness it before.
Personal I love the blast double it could just be hard to set up against really good guys also could get countered easier than sweep singles, singles are just easier and take less energy to commit. I have made this change as well, personally found more success on singles.
As an Iranian, I respect Jordan Burroughs as a humble wrestler . He is the best wrestler in 21th century.

David Taylor is fucking massive for that weight class
Jordan might just be small, seeing as he had to bump up and this isn't his normal weight; he's not gonna be as filled-out and solid as Taylor whose been at this specific one for a while. DT's big don't get me wrong but I think Taylor's size is just really accentuated compared to Jordan.

I think he lost for 3 reasons: 1. He's getting old and has passed his prime. 2. DT has gotten a LOT better and seems to be going into his prime (if he's not already in it). 3. That weight difference was crucial; a filled-out 79 kg'r is very different from a bloated 74 kg'r. They've trained and geared their bodies to different weights and when the skill level difference is that close you can't really afford stuff like that (wrestling someone who's still practically a whole weight class above you). Still great and still a legend. Just might be time to bow out gracefully while he can.
The weight is the number 1 reason. reasons #1 and #2 that you listed are non-factors
@@alovesupreme I looked it up and Jordan isn't as old as I thought he was (nor is the gap between them as large as I thought it was) but DT being in his possibly prime form is by no means a non-factor when we're talking about that vs an out-of-prime Jordan. Though I do agree weight is the primary thing (hence I why focused on that the most) and that's the main reason he lost.

just a showmatch kind of to entertain when there aren't olympics or big tournaments, JB, kyle dake, and DT all used to be same weight class, but DT and dake had to go up earlier in their careers because they could not beat JB yet, so there was still interest to see if jordan was actually better or dake and DT just lacked experience at the time when they couldn't beat him

They are absolutely great wrestlers, but I thought Jordan would've taken it. David Taylor is absolutely great, and he's in my top 5. I don't know what happened to Jordan and when his downfall started. He's just losing now.

True but we're not as technical on average as Russians and Iranians unfortunately. We often rely too much on explosiveness/strenght and pressure, probably due to the our folkstyle wrestlling nature.

What? Not impressive at all. Looked like JB didn't want to wrestle. All delay. Then when Taylor got out in front, Taylor did the exact same thing. All delay. The whole match was basically delay and defense. JB has been the best for so long but looks like his day as #1 is over.
