  • Got Brooksie at NCAA's for sure. Not only does he look huge and lean, he is wrestling a world champion in his prime and stuffing most of his offense. You can tell Magic man was thinking "damn this kid is strong" when having a couple of deep shots stuffed.

    • They have been wrestling each other at Penn State for a few years now. The NLWC wrestlers wrestle the Penn State wrestlers all the time in the wrestling room there at State College. You have Nolf, Retherford, Taylor, Joseph, Nickal and many past Nittany Lions wrestling the current Penn State wrestlers there.

    • I think a lot of the depth we see today might leave before 2028 olympic cycle with the emergence of Bo and the UFC pipeline going on at PSU. Will be very interesting to see.

  • Man I wish we could have seen that 2nd match play out without the iffy 2 call and 1-point for the lost challenge. Crazy to think there's a chance that Taylor won't be our 2024 Olympic rep. Still the favorite obviously, but Brooks spending a year up at 197 as opposed to 184 will help him a lot

    • In modern freestyle rules, the first period cannot end without a score. If there is no score by about with about 1:30 to go in the first period, the *more* passive wrestler (as deemed by the judge) will be put on the clock. It's not that he was very passive, just that he was slightly more passive than Taylor

  • That attempt (Brooks) was a desperate arm spin attempt. He waited too long by looking at the clock, giving Taylor an intuition that something may be up. He should've just kept handfighting then going for the hail Mary arm spin. He will get stronger from this. He barely lost.

    • Next year the only weight to bump up to is 97 and he's way too small for that. Two years from now he could go up to 92 but it's possible by then he'll be the guy at 86.

  • I know to never underestimate ur opponent and they both feeling each other out and waiting for the other to make a mistake but sometimes its really boring. I like wrestlers who have alot of confidence and take the initiative. Good match though

  • Brooks needs to get more aggressive with DT! They probably wrestle each other in practice so much. They know each other inside and out. Brooks is strong he needs to use that. Also when you get on that mat friendship goes out the door. That is your opponent your enemy. DT is at the top of the mountain though he is damn tough!

    • I think it just depends on how bad it is. One of the best wrestlers at the hs I coach at can't see their legs if he doesnt have his contacts. Hes gotten away from it at a few tournaments because your average hs kid isn't shooting from space really
