    • He's one of those rare gifted individuals in terms of his stamina. But he's the product of the NCAA program in the US which is 80% offense. They pound into you that notion of attack, attack, attack, and break down your opponents willpower.

  • Damn. He Taylor really filled out. He was a 135/140lb-er as a senior in HS. Wrestling 190lbs. I wrestled 145 Sr year and the heaviest I got was 180. In college. (Thanks Busch light) dude prob walks around near 205-210...

  • David Morris Taylor III in 2023 is already Olympic Champ (2021), 3x World Champ (2018, 2022, 2023). I think it's great. Especially when he's beating one of best wrestlers in the world-Hassan Yazdanicharati.

    • Yes, he does look much bigger than Erdin. Funny thing is that Taylor moved up to 86kg all the way from 74kg, because he was having trouble beating Burroughs and Dake. Imagine how big he'd look at 74kg.

    • @@caveman726 I understand what you're trying to say, but clearly size does matter. If it didn't, there would be no need for weight classes. If it's all about heart and effort, does that mean that all the Americans who didn't win Gold didn't have enough heart, or didn't train hard enough? Hard to believe that would be true given they all had the same coaches, and trained in the same room. Size, strength, and skill matter. The necessary effort, training, and heart all build off those basic building blocks.

  • He had a tougher time in the earlier rounds... he seemed so confident in that final. Does anyone know what DT was seeded in this weight class? Pretty sure he beat some champions to get to the final. Maybe he had already beaten the best in the weight class and figured this wrestler would be easy work.

  • the problem for the rest of the world is match length. They can maybe stick with DT for 3-4 minutes. But eventually that relentless pressure takes its toll. As Vince Lombardi said, "Fatigue makes cowards of us all."

  • Since 2013 David Taylor is unbeaten internationally. He has only lost at trials and to other americans (mainly dake and burroughs). He has gotten much better over the last 2 years so I think he can beat those guys next time.
