I'm very excited to reveal this mystery chateau which has never been seen before by the public. It's privately owned by a French family whose ancestors included several of Napoleon's 'Marechals'. They even have their own family champagne estate, and glorious medieval cellars to store it in! 🍾
Philip and I were lucky enough to be invited by Amy and Marc (who grew up in this beautiful building) to spend a couple of days with them, and I'm delighted to share our experience with you...

Amy and Marc are a wonderful couple and I will be adding their Chateau journey to my viewing list. As someone who has been tracing the family history for years, it's so interesting to see a family that has recorded and kept everything for future generations. On one of my many trips to the local tip with my Dad back in the late 60's', I saw a large box of fabulous family photos someone just had tossed out, for whatever reason. Very sad to think no one wanted them.... they were on the top of a pile and undamaged....first one was of a stylish young lady, beautifully dressed, skirt to the floor holding a parasol... about 1890's ... In true Stephanie style I took them all - they found a home with my History of Costume teacher! Stephanie, I hope you are feeling much better and are back at home with the gang..... 🏰❤️

This was all very fascinating, but the line that jumped out at me, delivered with no back story or followup, was "he'd done his PhD in penguins..." Talk about leaving us wanting more!
The sound of a child's laugh makes me want to cry in joy!
I loved watching him play with his hands, turning them about like he was just learning he could do that.

I feel as though I've just watched a short, but very entertaining film featuring art, history, decorating and a fairytale romance. Kind of like the movie Chocolat, but with champagne instead. What a charming and interesting family. This was really such a treat.

I love that laundry room. I can imagine the lavender scent. How come when the French have a jumble of things it looks elegant. While at my house, it's a bonafide wreck.

I was thinking exactly the same thing. I’m looking at my living room now and there are nice things in it but it just looks messy and cluttered at the same time. Each room is the same cluttered mess of stuff.
History! Pride, not plastic crap & home made good quality & all have an interesting story! His face is so full of pride & a story to pass down! Where as we are like let’s get it from a factory & throw in our oceans & land so sad! This was pure joy to watch!!!
I think the jumble looks better in their homes since they are much bigger rooms than we typically have with the same amount of stuff crammed in. I loved that the chateau was so lived in looking, real life, not a magazine spread or a pinterest styled shot.
I could easily tell it was Pachelbel's Canon, even if the piano has never been tuned. Marc and his lovely family are so beautiful, and such a Joy!

What a lovely, lovely couple with an adorable baby. And the Chateau is just so beautiful. The stories he was able to tell about his family history was just fascinating....!!!! Every room was warm and inviting. Though many furniture pieces were of museum quality, it certainly never felt like you were in a stiff untouchable situation.

What a treat this was to be able to see inside this beautiful chateau and hear the stories of the lovely family. Did anyone else spy the little lizard at the base of the stain glass double doors @10:29? Spring is waking up there. And....may I just say that Philp is the best photographer! He really does an incredible job. He can do EVERYTHING!

My goodness! That kitchen fireplace is my ideal! Wow, just wow! I would cook to rival Ms Patmore in there! In goes the bread in the bread oven, turning my roast on the spit and smoking my salmon in the smoker and afterwards tea and biscuits by the fire!!

The Mystery Chateau is So very FRENCH ! Just loved the tour by some of our favorites Amy and Marc, of his family Chateau. What a lovely idyllic home, filled with such fine antiques, views and bright sunshine!! The blend of each generation and what they bring to the Chateau is endearing and beautiful. Enjoyed the historical and personal facts surrounding Amy and Marc and their family. It is so good to see their beautiful son that is growing up so fast. What a legacy to be proud of!!

The piano is from the 1830's, restored they are wonderous. Perfect for Chopin !
Exactly. It's a yellow label Pleyel Carré, if properly restored by a competent technician it can be worth a lot of money.
@@valentinerichardbarker8765 Probably a Rousselot or different Southern France brand. Pleyel did a straight bar through the lyre, also the yellow label was more rectangular. They are all restorable, but depending on who and what needs to be done, it can cost quite some money (2000-10000 euro) Once restored they keep quite in tune and sound wonderful.
@@wimvanmoerbeke The yellow label made me think it was a Pleyel similar to one I was thinking of buying a few years ago, but I didn't because it needed too much work to restore it. I bought an 1830s Broadwood instead which was in better condition and only needed a little work and now holds tuning well at around 415.
@@valentinerichardbarker8765 wise choise, if you don't have too much money its better to buy one in a good state. Many piano brands had the yellow label between 1820's-1850's

I loved the bright, airy feel to the chateau. I'm usually fond of dark, rich colors, but these bright, cheery ones all played beautifully with the decor.
Another French family Chateau, brilliant!, Stephanie, start your own t.v. show, 'the French not selling their chateaux' ! you can translate and you have the personality, looks and knowledge, win win win. This is the France I want to know and I am sure MAny other viewers do too, a show for the French, about the French, after all they are the magnificent creators of these buildings. These homes are so beautiful. I grew up with fireplace, wall paper and large rooms. Homes built to last. Marc's home has so many antiques, history and memories. This home is incredible. Excellent tour.

I’m English and for formal dinners I serve how Marc does it. I’ve always understood that to be correct English etiquette. For casual dinners it is more free, of course.

The chateau is lovely. I especially love, love, love the red flowered pattern on the drapes, the chairs and the couch. The wood that the furniture is made from is so exquisite, all generations. Every room that has the pop of red is so beautiful. Your eyes are just drawn to it.
