@@ThatAlternativeTransGirl "when it comes to seizures, especially if they come in multiples, every second counts..." Regardless of what the emergency is, every second always counts. In this case, however, the paramedics were never going to be part of the patient care - there was already a team physician (doctor) and trainers tending to the patient prior to the paramedics' arrival. "...because all movements during a seizure cannot be controlled." Bodily movements are not top priority in terms of seizures. The top priority is minimizing (or stopping) damage to the brain or heart. "Also, it's one thing if someone is seizing in regular clothes. Those skates could've caused even worse problems." Such as what, exactly? "It took far too long to get to him." They had to walk approximately 32 meters - the average person walks 30 meters in 20 seconds; this is assuming flat, paved ground with no obstacles or dangers. At face value, the medics took 33 seconds to reach the patient. That is 13 seconds longer than the average person. HOWEVER, they are on ICE AND they are pushing/pulling a stretcher with gear on top of it. In addition to their response time being within a reasonable time frame, they weren't there for PATIENT CARE - the patient had already gone through the seizure with other medical staff (who were less than 3 feet away) on site. The medics were for TRANSPORTATION only.

Everyone lines up about 3 feet from the boards and one player skates along the boards getting hit by each player one after the next (I think it was called the "grinder" or something). It was my turn to take the hits. I was always good at taking hits, but once I got to the biggest guy on my team, he crushed me to were My helmet caved in. I didn't get hurt at all, but I remember after practice a coach took my helmet and started inspecting it, saying if I had gotten hurt, I could have sued Bauer.
@ThatAlternativeTransGirl you do realize they didn't have skates right?
@@brettpatten2952They’re saying that the player seizing had skates on and that the paramedics were taking every precaution in order to not get cut.
Massive respect to those boys for dropping the gloves. They knew they had to get their teammates heads back in the game
Hope Luc is okay best wishes to him, his family and his career.
*For anyone unaware, he was hit, and preceeded to have a seizure. I am epileptic so i can accurately comment on the convulsion spurts.*
"They're moving immediately" no.. no theyre not. I remember getting run from behind playing net in HS and it mustve looked bad because both ours and the other teams trainer was next to me in seconds. I was ok but thats my point. This kid looked like he was having some kind of seizure, just from the optics if im the medical staff thats a life or death situation to me. Gotta be better.
All leagues really need to start cracking down on the leg sweep when checking someone into the boards. See it all the time in every full contact league
I was at this game and seeing it live left the whole place in utter shock
I hope he’s going to be okay
I was at this game. Didn’t have a good view at all but I saw his arm like shaking. My mind was racing hoping he would be okay. Luckily he was.
Players need to help them get that stretcher out faster and not a single one had that awareness. But I did hear one greyhound player whining about how slow they were going. Completely useless
Getting the stretcher there faster does nothing when the paramedics still have to walk across the ice
Praying for you, Luc. 🙌 That was really hard to watch.
Man, a trauma induced seizure is no joke. Glad the trainers got there immediately!
I remember being at a game when I was young, it was Owen Sound vs Belleville bulls I believe, and a player had a scarily similar injury. They had to cut all his equipment and get him on a stretcher. Scary stuff. Anyone have an update on this young man?
He fully recovered thankfully.
@@KylePakenham3620omg thank you Jesus.
Was it a belleville player? The bulls dont exist anymore
@@thomaslane9138 it was either the bulls or the Erie otters. But yes it was a player on one of those teams. It was a long time ago, I was quite young so hard to fully remember everything.
@@MrSrtman18Thank you, Jesus? For what?
Looks like Boucher got a six game suspension for that incident. You know, ice or no ice, those medics were piss poor with their reaction time.
The medical staff should have been on the ice faster
Yes. Should just always be on the ice with whambulance and stretcher at the ready just in case lmao
Faster? It was under 1 minute after he fell that they were on the ice. You want them to skate around during the game with all their equipment just waiting for someone to get hurt? Jeeeeeeezus
yeah that's what happens when women are on the job, so slow lol. look how they walk to the stretcher... absolutely no urgency at all.
@@wayner5679they could have went faster on the ice kid
@roxanne1987r Ya good thinking Roxanne. Let's get them skates too!! Lol. Clearly you do not work in the Medical field. You want them to run on the ice in their work boots risking a fall and injuring themselves? Is that really what you're saying? C'mon kid!!
HOOOO-LEEEEE! I am glad he gave the thumbs up. Heard he's fully recovered. *NOW* I think that hit was a little late. It wasn't a HARD hit, but the hit could be avoided after Bru passed the puck up. There was enough time to let up and minimize contact. Nevertheless, Bouch being a good sport and instantly apologetic is a REALLY GOOD LOOK. Great gentlemen on the ice at this level.
Little late? It was a slew foot. Dirty af. Boucher is garbage.
imagine for 30 seconds if Jim Pizzutelli had been as slow as these 2 paramedics to rescue Malarchuk, what do you think would have happened....
Thats crazy to think about actually.
@@KylePakenham3620 very sad to see anyway.
Paramedics weren't moving urgently because the team doctor was already tending to the player. I will agree they got going really slowly but them being hasteful could've possibly made things worse. If they're supposed to be the first ones to the player, they would not be required to wear all that gear. The training staff hops over the boards from behind the bench and I promise they're more suited for that situation than the paramedics
Linesman almost caused another injury holding the arm back when trying to break up the fight, stay the fuck out of it until it’s over, jesus
fire those paramedics from ever working a hockey game in their life, how do you move with such little urgency ?
Similar situation just happened to an Abbotsford Canucks player in the AHL the other day. So scary.
He slue-footed him out of that hit, subtle but very dirty. Caused buddy to slam onto the back of his head and resulted in that scary seizure.
I remember that, he was shot in the head from visitors team assistant coach with 22mm pistol + silencer. Scary and crazy thing, and now that coach are living in Moscow.
I hope Luc is okay! Hockey definitely a dangerous physical sport. Best wishes and hopefully Luc can get back to hockey playing soon!
At first I thought it was just me being annoyed with the response time but even the opposing goalie is like "WTF?? 0:52
career will never be the same after that hit to the head
Very scary event, hopefully Luc recovers quickly. I don't understand fighting the on the next shift with the player who did the hit with how innocent it looked, saw #25 being emotional on the bench afterwards
PRAYING FOR HIM GOOD LUCK BROTHER
Total slew foot. You can see him quickly sweep his legs out before quickly pulling his left leg back out. Cheap players are great at making things look clean at full speed.
Good on that player for being in the ear of the medics who took their sweet time.
Ottawa Paramedic service provides the crew for the game as they do for the Sens. They are required to wear the neon, helmet and ice spikes on the ice. The white helmet is a supervisor I believe and it was obvious he wasn't.
OMG...his head twitching is scary....HOLY GEEZ!
Is there an updated video? Hope he will be alright.
seeing him reach to scratch his lip on the stretcher is an immensely good sign… scary shit
Damn was expecting a bigger hit too but that’s what makes it more scary
Peoples don’t understand it’s the first thing you are thought to do. Don’t rush and cause more harm to the patient or yourselve. They did the right thing
"Might've been when his head hit the ice!" Holy shit, we got ourselves a medical professional!
Damn that’s scary. I didn’t even realize he was having a seizure at the time but I know that now.
its lack of respect to play music in a situation of this magnitude
Thumbs up after a seizure was a very positive sign. I’m guessing he has epilepsy and recovers from those quickly
When did this happen
smashes his head against the ice, has a seizure, and then we have to have a fight standing up for our teammate by punching each other in the head
Nasty slewfoot with no call what so ever. If the refs wont police the game, the players will.
First hockey game?
@@DeathProofXXX No, it just isn't logical to mourn the loss of a teammate and then let your emotions attempt the same probability . But I get it, it's sports. Everyone is your friend except during the game.

I don’t wanna say the hit was dirty but the angle is hard to tell did that leg trip him up Russian leg sweep style?
similar hit happened in the ottawa sens game last night. honestly exact same hit.
Remember that if you ever have a family member who has to rely on this level of response.
head injuries are no joke, got a bad one during a snowboarding competition.. Those paramedics were slow as fuck… hope he’s alright!
I recall an instance in practice on day. We were doing hitting practice. I was about 8-9 years old. With that said, hockey helmets don't protect much
And you would have lost 😂

How often are paramedics called to the ice? They were right inside the glass, they moved swiftly n safely down a sheet of ice. Luc had trainers and Drs tending to him making sure he was ok, before taking him off on a stretcher. Its the OHL, kids hit often and hard like that. I saw no malicious intent to injure Luc, although the league saw differently. Thankfully Luc recovered from the incident.
Who was in charge of seeing this and there instant thought as booker t and the mjs?
Love the speedy reaction of the med staff.. Come on you have to do better
The team Drs and personnel were with the player assessing paramedics did their best
Looks like my controller went dead....
Kept the music going , so disrespectful!
That was from Last season
Nothing clean about it. Slew foot all the way, he didn’t need to sweep his back leg. He knew what he was doing, he didn’t expect to put the guy in a seizure tho.
Clean hit. Canadians playing ice hockey the way its meant to be. Thats why Canada is #1 country in the world and why Canada never loses in international play. Gowd i love ice hockey!

He might be moving and stuff when going off the ice but those paramedics has gotta put some pace on! Brain and skull trauma can end badly in a matter of minutes
Classless for the DJ to be spinning tunes when a guy is down with a serious injury.

The EMS there is totally inadequate. One of them was more worried about getting his bike helmet on then hurrying to the player. .What if he had been seriously cut? I hope they improve on this for everyone's safety.
"One of them was more worried about getting his bike helmet on then hurrying to the player. ." P.P.E is a requirement for paramedics to conduct their job safely. Would you think the same way of a firefighter who spent 30 seconds putting on their helmet before going into a fire? "What if he had been seriously cut?" You have a doctor on scene, and you have trainers on scene. All of which are medically trained to handle emergencies. All of which would be the first on scene in this kind of situation, so they would be the ones to begin treatment. "I hope they improve on this for everyone's safety." Improve on... what, exactly?
