NHL "Faking An Injury" Moments! Players trying to draw a penalty by pretending to be hurt!

  • Let's be honest, though. This is relatively rare in hockey, especially when you compare it to, say, soccer.

  • Those skates have absolutely 0 padding around the ankle area. That slash on Thornton I think was real. Looked like he got hit on the ankle and that would kill especially if your weight is already on it. Only one I am iffy about on this list. The leverage on those sticks is more than it looks like.

  • They embellish because a lot of referees fall for it. The embellishment penalty has helped but refs rarely call it by itself, almost always 2 players get penalties.

  • Still can't see how Kovalev's was a faking an injury moment. He gets chopped in the back clearly and goes down, that shit hurts so I wouldn't put it past him that time. 2nd one obviously yeah that was a fake, but first one honestly should have been suspension worthy and the fact the refs call nothing there is a joke and shows how good modern hockey is compared to the shit we got in the 90s lol

  • No doubt a lot of these are blatantly faking, but flinching during a high stick is just a natural reaction to something coming that close to your face. I've had this happen numerous times while playing hockey where the stick never touches you but you still feel something hit your face, so naturally you flinch and reach for your mouth/nose. But I mean, not every player is gonna pull a Voracek and tell the ref after he see's the replay.
