At 70, I'm old but no longer bold. 😀I wouldn't fly this thing out of ground effect. Now....a turbine-powered "Mosquito" helicopter, I have no problem with. At least it has autorotation ability. 🙂 With this "toy" you BETTER have a ballistic parachute that can be deployed and be under a full canopy before hitting the ground. I'd give this a hard pass on flying any height where the fall would most likely result in death.

    • You will eventually be able to afford to buy flying cars when the production levels increase to a point where prices are reduced due to buyer demand . The first production of everything is always super expensive ie personal computers , tv's , mobile phones and so on . Mind you , not everyone will be keen to take to the air in a personal flying vehicle , there will no doubt be some nasty accidents when such machines are common place and people begin to take them for granted . Saw my first one a couple of days ago , with a person on board , 300km west of Melbourne Australia , flying low across a field and hovering . It didn't appear to be too stable as the wind picked up , but still moved ok without issue .

  • Really cool concept that will take a while to see wide adoption. Price, range and safety are the 3 major concerns I can see coming up. To address the latter point I'd look at adding a lightweight water-activated floatation device on the underside of the chassis and maybe a ballistic parachute system to make flying at higher altitudes safer. I fly paramotors too so I'm wondering if there's a way to hybridize the thing a bit to have a small deployable glider and rotor forward-pitch adjustment to improve distance. Though that would be a lot of extra engineering.

(B) Helicopter blades are not at small children's head heights even if helicopters were landing around children which they are not. And most plane propellers are cased with a wrap around metal protection for exactly that reason. Which I am grateful for as I worked at Will Roger's Airport for 8 years and the average teenage girls bubble brain sky cap would have got her bubble @ss head chopped off if not for that. 😅

    • @@SherrickDuncanI doubt you’ll be able to fly one of these without a pilot’s certificate, either. What this machine needs is… a different design altogether. In a multi-rotor, loss of power results in loss of control. No aviation regulator on Earth is going to certify something so deadly, no matter how much tech they put in it to compensate. Remember how much hate Boeing got over the 737 MAX needing software to compensate for being naturally unstable? This is the same thing only a hundred times worse.
