  • It really annoys me when the crowd tries to clap along because they're horribly off beat. What if it messes up the gymnast?

    @Ali-kg4pr@Ali-kg4pr4 жыл бұрын
    • Honey, if you are a gymnast and a little clapping upsets your concentration you do not make it to the OG. These women have minds of steel. They could even perform those routines perfectly to completely different music. I've seen it happen at competitions: sometimes the tracks get mixed up but once you've started, you have to finish the routine or it counts as a fail.

      @sueegybeckenheim3518@sueegybeckenheim35184 жыл бұрын
    • @@sueegybeckenheim3518 I'm not sure if you are a gymnast or not, but at least from my experience as a musician, when the audience tries to clap along, and are not in rhythm, it is very distracting.

      @clairexu198@clairexu1984 жыл бұрын
    • Performing is like beeing in a void. It's you, your apparatus and the music. What happens around you shouldn't bother you. You concentrate on every step of the routine, one after another. Believe me when I say: you have no time to think about someone clapping wrong.

      @CinnamonVanillaKitty@CinnamonVanillaKitty4 жыл бұрын
    • idk if yall are saying "they are not professional if they can't concentrate" after actually experiencing something like that, but even for professionals, something off beat is very distracting, we just train hard not to be distracted. they are not robots, they are humans and they get distracted too. they just try not to be distracted. also, the clapping is usually sounds off when we watch from tv, but it's likely to be on beat at the location. not always, but most likely to be lol so hopefully, they were closer to being on beat.

  • My favorite routines 🤍 Margarita Mamun 🇷🇺 hoop and ribbon Yana Kurdyavsteva 🇷🇺 clubs and hoop Son Yeon-Jae 🇰🇷 ribbon Marina Durunda 🇦🇿 hoop Neviana Vladinova 🇧🇬 clubs and ball Katsiaryna Halkina 🇧🇾 hoop ~ All gymnasts routines were amazing they all deserved gold. As a RG gymnast myself I understand how hard it is to perform perfectly in front of all the people and dropping the apparatus is hard but they continue anyway. These were just some routines I thought stood out!

  • I wailed at my TV when Yana missed that club. She was shaky in the qualifications but as she always does, she was bringing her very best when it really mattered. More than three years at the top of the sport and I never saw her make a mistake like that in a crucial moment. She was so clutch. And that toss didn’t look off. She had just gotten slightly out of position and maybe a little ahead of herself but it was right there. I couldn’t believe it. I wanted Rita to pull off the upset but not like that. I was crushed for Yana. That said, what composure for Rita to hang in there and deliver such a beautiful ribbon routine to seal it. She had history of getting close to Yana but blowing it because of a mistake and she had to have a sense she was in position to win. What enormous pressure and she handled it like a pro. Her dad died just a few days after this. I can’t even imagine.

    • Yana made us feel something different, her handling of the device was spectacular, she always beat Mamun in all major tournaments. But they were friends, Mamun always knew that Yana was better and accepted her second place with humility. Yana understood the mistake and thought it was good that Mamun, for once, won an important victory.

    • @@betiona1507 I don't exactly agree with the way you stated that, Yana wasn't better than Rita, she was definitely more consistent most of the time and better under pressure (which sadly didn't pull through during the Olympics). Yana and Rita were both amazing and they both had their strengths and weaknesses but if we're going to take a look at every single time they competed against eachother and one of them won because of one mistake of the other, that happened so many times with Yana beating Rita because of a small mistake Rita made. They were really great competitors.

      @Chaotic.Clumsy@Chaotic.Clumsy3 жыл бұрын
    • This is a subjective sport, Yana transmits magic to me, Mamun does not. Mamun was obviously an amazing athlete, anyone from the Russian national team who coach is Irina Viner has to be. Yana was younger than Mamun and still won more gold medals in the World Championship and the European Championship. She has the record of being the youngest gymnast to win the world championship.

      @betiona1507@betiona15073 жыл бұрын
    • @@betiona1507 I don't think it's fair to compare their ages though, I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that Mamun started in rhythmic gymnastics at a very late age for a professional athlete. Yana is only 2 years younger than her. That probably means that Yana has been training at least as long but most likely longer than Rita.

However, because of Russian constitutional laws which do not allow dual citizenship, she now solely holds citizenship of the Russian Federation. She has one younger brother named Filipp Al Mamun. Her father's birthplace is Kashipur, Durgapur, Rajshahi, Bangladesh. On 26 August 2016, Mamun's father, Abdullah, died from cancer at the age of 52, two days after she returned to Russia from Brazil, six days after she won Olympic gold

  • Well, as someone watching it completely detached from having favorites, rooting for anyone back then or seeing the process of their training at the time, I can say that Yana is honestly miles ahead of anyone and better at everything except for the ball routine. She's the best even at clubs with that last moment mistake cause I'm not really talking about done/not done here, but about the difficulty of the program, movements, interaction with objects... just mind-blowing. She's making it seem as easy as breathing. Margarita's win is completely justified tho... she didn't do any mistakes and was second only to the god-like performances of Yana and got rewarded for it
