Kanaeva truly is a person out of time. I don’t think there will ever be a more perfect gymnast. Achievements wise, name wise, performance wise, everything is so perfect.
plus a very simple person. Now she is teaching kids, never acts like a superstar. Proud to know her personaly

@@debraharper6992 I always mention her name amongst the other greats, like Phelps, Biles, Jordan, Yuna Kim, etc I can't think of any other athlete who was more talented and able to handle pressure better than Kanaeva.

Kanaeva's ribbon routine was definitely one of my favorites, literally one of the most majestic routines I have seen in RG
I know that 9 years have passed, but everytime I watch the rhythmic gymnastics finals in London 2012 I feel so many emotions... All the gymnasts were breathtaking. Every exercise was very magical and special. Kanaeva is a real queen, she is amazing! I can't believe that she won two Olympic gold medals. She must have been so proud and so happy... Always so close to the perfection and always so humble, I really admire her, like a gymnast and also like a woman. That genuine smile of hers makes me smile too! Charkashyna made me cry so much when she realised that she had won the bronze medal...I was so happy for her! And her exercises were so fast...I was very impressed. I am so sorry for Son Yeonjae, if she hadn't made that fatal mistake in her clubs routine, maybe she could have won the bronze medal...she looked in a really great shape. South Korea must have been so proud of her. And the gymnast who also impressed me so much is Mitrosz! She had something different...who watches her can see that she really liked what she did, her exercises were a breath of fresh air. She made me smile so much. Lovely girl! In general I loved all the gymnasts, every girl had her own unique style and beauty and I enjoyed watching this competition again. I hope that all these girls are doing well nowadays. ♡ Thank you so much for uploading this video! (I'm sorry for any errors, but English isn't my first language since I'm an italian girl.)
This was my favorite RG Olympic Final ever...Then Athens. The sport was perfect here and the women were true artists. Italien ? Milena Baldassarri dud amazing in the 2021 Tokyo RG Final !
The 2011 World's Championship and 2012 Olympics were a fantastic cycle of gymnasts. My personal favorites were Maksimenko, Miteva, and Senyue Deng, especially in the 2013 cycle.

"A thing of beauty is a joy forever..." Kanaeva, Dmitrieva and all the ladies are just gorgeous!! If I ever need motivation, I watch these gymnasts and am reminded of what beauty and grace comes from hard work, discipline, dedication and love for your craft.. Bravo!!
Coming from the 2016 rewind performance, I’m absolutely crushed for Son Yeon Jae :’( the audience clearly loves her (and the commentators)
Kanaeva has never been surpassed. Love Dmitrieva's ribbon routine. The choreography was spectacular and the music provided the perfect end to a fantastic Olympics!
People often forget how difficult it is to maintain concentration during each competition (especially at the Olympics), working with different apparatuses. But look at Alina Maksymenko hoop routine, amazing flow and energy. I love that adrenaline, her interpretation was stunning. That presentation was so intricate yet very fast and in line with the music, what an incredible control, absolutely wonderful! I admire her determination.
Their flexibility skills are unreal. Even the one who came in last place. They’re all incredible. If I was a judge I would just be like: 👁👄👁
Gymnastics and aquatics are my favorite events to watch each Olympic year. I can't wait to look back to Rio and look forward to Tokyo!
at beijing kanaeva won with over 3 points compared to the second pale, but at london 4 years older(in rhytmic doesn0t mean always a good thing) still won woth 2,5 points over..now this is quite a champion so cute with her coach 1:52:23 , ithik they got the most special realtiosnhips , kanaeva and shtelabuams behave like a grandmother and granddaughter, both caring to each other

Kanaeva is the best rhythmic gymnast ever. Beautiful in each performance
When she finishes her the very last routine at 2:27:40, her smile looks so true :) all the years of hard training, all those winning and losing games, pressure, self-confidence and fear, her entire life which has gone through must have risen up when she made last poise. You were, you are, and will be the Zarina of rhythmic gymnastics for long!

I know commentators are a bit annoying talking over the routine but I find that overall the tend to be kind and respectful towards the gymnasts, they always find something nice to say about each one of them, highlighting the positive over the negative for each routine. Nontheless, I do find that their knowledge is quite general, it would be great to find this transmission with comments by Paloma del Río, for example
ehhhh Paloma tends to be very general as well, funny and honest. However Almudena Cid is the most knowledgeable when it comes to technical ability, artistry, difficulty, and even musical/cultural nuances. Together though, they are so much fun. Their reactions are genuine. I think Paloma is retiring from broadcasting? In the 2023 World Championship ending, I heard Almu saying some form of farewell and thank you to her.
I'm so sorry about Son's mistake in club. If she didn't make a mistake in club, she would have won a bronze medal.
By that time, mistakes counted a lot. More than today. If not, ask Yana Kudriatseva (Rio 2016, in her clubs routine)

She was to win bronze. The bronze winner's crying at the end of her ribbon routine was a strategy to influence the judges. Anyway, Son Yeon is a crownless queen.

I don’t know but I feel like I’m missing something when I watch Kanaeva. I understand she can do difficult skills well, but when I watch her I don’t feel the same cohesive, magnetic artistry that I see when I watch Kudryavtseva or Bessonova or Son, for example. Instead, her routines look like a series of skills with music playing in the background.

Im not a professional in gymnastic, but im a big fan. And sometimes i feel exectly same as you))) Idk why, but its smth like i cant see a magic in many popular Kanaeva routines... Bessonova, Kudryavceva, or even Mamun sometimes has some magic of classy lines, composition, passion and tenderness. Why its happening i cant explane. I loved Utyasheva this way too. Sometimes i think its also connected somehow with figure and lines of body. Eugenia Kanayeva is more feminine and adult gymnast, but Bessonova and Kudryavtceva are different type, smth like magic fairy )

There are certain events in the Olympics that stand above all others RG is one of them. The winner of this event is absolute royalty After watching this I feel like the ugliest, fattest most uncoordinated lump of fat that ever dragged their knuckles across a floor. I'm amazed I did not fall over on the way.
