    • Dancing is not a sport even if it does take physical effort. This is not impressive in the context of the Olympics. Winning a gold medal in dancing makes a nonsense of the entire institution of the Olympics.

    • @@EC2019 its artistic swimming. It is impressive and it’s more than just “dancing”. I challange you to “dance” under water for 4 minutes and you’ll quickly realize how much skill it actually requires. If you don’t like it, do not watch it.

    • @@EC2019 its literally gymnastics and swimming mixed together. are neither of those sports?

      @planetnymph8430@planetnymph84302 жыл бұрын
    • @@EC2019 The literal definition of a sport is an activity which requires physical exertion and skill. The entirety of this sport is incredibly impressive. It is the combination of swimming and gymnastics, which are both Olympic sports. The synchronization and work those ladies put into this sport are as equal as anyone else. It does not make a “nonsense” of the institution and the standards for this sport are very high. I’d respect your opinion if you did not like the sport but disrespecting the sport, the institution which chooses to set a stage for this sport and the people who participate and are dedicated to this sport is making nonsense of yourself.

Outside of water, the music sounds warbled but underwater, it’s crystal clear and you can hear the music perfectly I swam competitively on a club team that shared the Olympic sized pool with a club synchronized swimming team….so the pool had those underwater speakers. My coach used to play music that we could listen to during swim practice. It was awesome

      @anitraduke3616@anitraduke36164 жыл бұрын
    • Anitra Duke being slim doesn’t stop your period, being anemic or underweight or just old malnutrioned can stop it. If you are skinny but healthy like these athletes, you should have a period. This is because if your body isn’t getting the nutrients or food that it needs, it will stop unnecessary processes to save energy such as the menstrual cycle or hair and nail growth. But these girls are extremely healthy, so they shouldn’t have problems like that.

      @erinpicken6435@erinpicken64354 жыл бұрын
    • Michelle Irigoyen thanks! We use tampons with no problem. I’ve seen very young girls quit the sport if they cannot figure out how to use a tampon, though. It’s very sad, but elite swimmers don’t even think about their periods.

I’m not saying we should get rid of commentators, I’m saying we should only hire the ones who will give helpful info about what the performers are doing, and keep their mouths shut about how “they wish that they would just hurry up and start the routine” very good point to bring up though :)

Doing that whilst keeping afloat and generating force to propel teammates out of water is insane and for the entirety of about 4mins...that's breathtaking. Agility, skill, stamina, elegance, and don't forget as ladies they could be on their period. My hats off to them. Really underrated sport.

      @ritabarcar@ritabarcar3 жыл бұрын
    • @@ritabarcar ok, just look: these swimmers have to hold their breath for minutes underwater. their heads are completely submerged; there’s no way to get air. that’s literally the equivalent of having your face completely covered. COMPLETELY COVERED. now, compare this to wearing a mask: a mask has open areas where air can come in, and you can breathe easily. that’s not anywhere near being completely covered. edit: whoops i didn't mean entire minutes. it's around 10-20 seconds. but even then that's quite a long time to hold your breath while kicking around whilst also being upside down.

      @audreyli9000@audreyli90003 жыл бұрын
    • @@audreyli9000, now YOU look closer, but this time with a TIMER! So, what’s the longest period of time they have their heads completely submerged? And what is it that they do with their mouths the very first second they rise their faces above the water line? That’s right, they exhale! And if you pay attention, they also take a deep breath at the very last second before they submerge. I mean, I don’t really claim you’ll get the point now, but their faces show it quite obviously, again, if you pay attention. And I seriously doubt you can do any of those movements with a muzzle on. But hey, if you’re so content with a mandatory muzzle on your face, since you’re advocating for it that hard, then I guess so be it.

They’re not trying to say that they can do this or that these Olympic qualifying swimmers r only as talented as a high school swimmer. As a high school swimmer myself, I agree with them 100%. Those last few minutes it’s fun to go mess around and pretend ur good at things like this. That’s all, no hate 👍🏼

    • @@jere6487 In each session we do conditioning where we spend a lot of time holding our breaths while doing basic movements like rising and sinking in the underwater vertical position. In our warmups we often do intense underwaters for example we would have.... Wind sprint (sprint front crawl without any breathes) for 25m and tumble turn at the end without taking a breath and straight into an underwater for 25m. We would usually repeat this about 4-5 times.
