SteelSeries Rival 3 Review | great cheap 80g medium sized mouse
Great cheap option from SteelSeries, the Rival 3 makes some solid improvements over the Rival 110, from adding comfort grooves in the buttons, removing the awful textured plastic from the sides (the materials feel better) along with updating the sensor and RGB.
Build quality seems quite good, no rattles, although my right button sounds fairly different to the left. That's not uncommon but still thought I'd mention it.
For $29.99 it really is a great option. The TrueMove Core sensor would be something like the 3359 in the Razer Viper Mini, same max DPI, and they both perform extremely well in game.

This shape is one of the best for me because it works well with my relaxed claw grip and the front of the mouse doesn’t flare outwards, so I can keep my ring finger closer to my middle finger which is a more natural grip and reduces strain in the hand.

This shouldn't be viewed as a "budget" mouse - it's cheap, but my god is it good. Esily feels nicer in my hands than the G Pro Wireless which is 100 quid more !

@@ileryon4019 feels like rival 3 is much better since the curve on both sides makes you feel solid. I used gpw for around half a year, g203 for 2 months, logitech's shapes are safe but sometimes too safe, if you could understand what I am talking about.

Hope you could answer me one question though, with so many mice you reviewed, which one had the best scroll wheel? Best as in without any tacky, wobbly, rattly side click/hyper scroll bullshit... A nice improvement over what was already a very decent mouse, my GF still uses the original Rival 100. It'll have a lot of competition with the Viper Mini being out though I think.
You are absolutely right, i have had my logitech g203 from the year it launched and have rocked it sonce, but if i was about to get a lighter mouse it would be any of those 2 and im really strugglimg to choose

I think this is the mouse I was looking for. Using g102 before but it was too lightweight so went to rival 110, my aim becomes more consistent and accurate although it feels heavy after long usage of g102

Given this is an upgrade from the Rival 110, on your website you state that the hump position is in the middle on the Rival 3, however, on the Rival 110 it is on the back. Was this intentional? Thank you in advance.

I am pretty sure it weights a TON because they didn say anything about the weight in the Presentation Video :D But the magnetic parts and the switchable Switches is something i was impressed with...you could theoretically have a two different Mouseshapes on each Mousebutton and even Switches, one that presses harder on right Mousebutton and a softer one on the left and so on. Thanks for the videos. Have you used a Zowie mico? I have dwarfisim so it's pretty much my fav mouse. But it has accel and no thumb buttons. Have used a g305 and it's just not small enough but I'm forced to use it. Any ideas? I kinda like the wireless though now if it's proper. Thanks again mate.

The glue on my SS Rival 310 has failed so now my rubber side grip rubs on my mouse pad. This happened after only a year of regular use in FPS games. Maybe it’s as easy as super glue them back on, but still this is the type of design issue you see with ~$40 mice.

the rival 110 is still one of my all time favorite mice. only the Model O- beats it because of the lower profile but it's too narrow. i ordered the Rival 3 and can't wait to try it myself now that it's lighter.

Just bought this because the shape is absolutely killer, build quality felt nice and they made the buttons so much better vs. the 110. Also ordered 0.75mm Corepad feet to doublestack them on the vanilla feet, and will do the tape trick if it's not enough :D I just need this shape.
How did the sensor trick go? Because the LOD is abit high for my liking but I got used to it overtime still would like a lower LOD

@Rocket jump ninja i got a question man i have used the zowie ec2a for a few years now since its broke iam using the g pro wireless for about 3 months now but i really dont have the feeling like on the ec2a and my aim acuraccy etc decreased maddly could you maybe explain what the issue could be? 100% it is! I have G102, Rival 110 and I still find myself using Zowie FK2. I cry a lot regarding clicks, material, cable and scroll wheel, though.

Bought this to upgrade from my 110. The texture on the sides is much better but the mouse makes my fingers ache badly because of the finger grooves. m1/m2 are also too sensitive. looks like i'm going back to my 110 and putting lizard grips on it.

I love this shape and sensor. It’s a great mouse
but the sensor is terrible, huge LOD and no adjustability.
@Google User Viper Mini doesn't have this problem. It should be adjustable, because these tape tricks affect sensor feel/performance.

i can't decide between steel series vs razer, i'm buying a set of them too (mouse pad, bungee & mouse) and there's a 5$ difference between them. I used zowie gs-r and ec1-a in the past and was happy with it (bit big for my hand but still). Before zowie i had the old blue deathadder and mouse it self was not that bad but the synapse software had so many issues it made me switch to zowie. any recommendations or suggestions ? ty. thanks for another great review Zy.

rival 110 is my mouse for everything, it's the perfect middle ground for people who don't know what they want from a mouse, well rounded and not too focused on any certain grip styles, i've never had any problems with the sensor and i swing my arm a fair bit apart from particles of dust getting in and making it lock up, easily fixed with a cotton bud. Thx for the review, will definitely consider getting this.

Yeah weight distribution is better, feels fine on the Rival 3.

Yeah I love my 110 too. The change to the side buttons on the Rival 3 doesn't look like one I'd like though. Not sure if I'd like the scroll wheel either.
Flat sides, and the buttons don't stick out to the sides. I have used the G203 and MM710. I'm unhappy with both. Next, waiting for my ergonomic keyboard kit... :D I feel the mouse is kinda wide actually, and when holding the mouse (claw grip), my fingers don't reach the end of the mouse (too long) So a smaller mouse really could do some help with aim. But this is good for now, finally.
Steel series finally catching up to the shapes and weights we want Razer viper mini looking a bit more attractive rn however

hi i really like your videos and the the shape guide helps me a lot but can i request a mouse to be rewiewed(the asus pugio 2) because it has so many features and potential and i really don't know if that mouse is right for me now(btw i am looking for a wireless gaming mouse what i can also use for my ipad pro for work) i am using the g403 so i took the g703 into consideration due to the similar shape and the price, my price range is tops around the pugio 2. your opinion matters me a lot ;)

I dont know the difference between the g203 and the g102, but i have had a g203 for a long time, and i can say. Go for the one that suits your hand best, cause they weight about the same but the glides on the g203 are really durable and arent as thin the ss one
