Endgame Gear XM1r Review - Still the Best Wired Mouse

The XM1r has been in my main rotation for months now as a solid, old reliable pick. It still holds up just as well today and remains an essential mouse for all claw grip players. I can't wait for whatever shape Endgame Gear makes next.

    • XM1r mini can't come soon enough. Seems like Endgame Gear is stuck in production hell. They have a hard time filling orders of their existing mice so I'd imagine a new shape is even more challenging. I haven't tried the m42 yet but I really want to. The shape seems right up my alley and I'd love to see how it compares to some of my other favorite mice. I'm just waiting for them to release a refresh and bring the improved cable and main switches to the m42 as they have on the m4.

    • True, they were weird about specifying what the shape was going to be and only ever said it was smaller. I'm no less excited, though, because what I want is a mouse with Endgame Gear quality that doens't feel so restrictive, what ever form that may be, not necessarily an altered xm1 shape. I'm just excited regardless because putting out such a good shape on their first try shows they have a lot of promise.

I was wondering if you've got any suggestions for a mouse for me? I was considering the fk2 but you kind of confirmed my fear that it might be too long for my hands which are about 17x9.

    • The Orochi v2 could be a good option for you. It's very short so you should still be able to get a good range of motion with a 17cm hand. It's also pretty high profile so you should be able to find some extra support in your palm if you want it. Viper mini is also always really good for the price if you haven't tried it yet.

  • Spot on about how surprisingly precise you can get with the XM1R. I’d rate the XM1R in terms of shape the following: Stability/flicks (determined by bigger length and width and rear hump size): S Precision/micro-flicks (determined by how narrow and how flat the front of the mouse is) : B Range of motion/tracking (determined by smaller length and lack of hump presence) : C Precision and freedom of movement are both influenced by length and narrowness but precision is more determined by narrowness and flatness and freedom of movement is more determined by length in my opinion. I was having bad aim yesterday with my UL2 and switched to my XM1R and literally had a moment where I flicked and the mouse stopped on the opponents’ head whereas my UL2 would have kept going. That’s the superior stability of the XM1R working. Since Valorant requires stability with cross hair placement and precision with micro adjustments this mouse is one of my top picks for tac shooters.

  • So I've been trying the NP01S and S2C the past three weeks to compare against my XM1R and concluded that XM1R is truly a GOAT. The S2C was the most comfortable mouse I tried but since it the sides are flat and mouse is higher my hand is more relaxed making it harder for me to be quick and precise and my aim worsened. The NP01S on the other hand I noticed that I would frequently miss my first shot but usually never miss the second adjustment due to ease of micro adjustment. The problem is that in comparison to my XM1R, I am far more accurate on my first shot with the XM1R giving me little need to micro adjust. This is because with the XM1R the increased palm contact, lower height and width of the mouse allows my wrist to do very tight quick stops whereas on the NP01S micro adjustments are more slow and gradual like I am slowly tracing an outline, so in this sense I actually found XM1R for me the more precise mouse than the NP01S. XM1R I can stop my aim on a dime with micro flicks, whereas the NP01S it is harder to stop due to the narrowness and lower hump thus making my aim overall worse. Not only that I actually find the XM1R quite comfortable personally although the S2C was the most comfortable for me. At this point I'm just even more amazed by the XM1R and just trying other mice for fun. I got the G303 Shroud on the way and other mice I'd be interested to try would be the ZA13C or a XM1R small but I honestly don't expect any of these mouse to beat my XM1R.

    @bespoke555@bespoke5552 жыл бұрын
    • The xm1r is crazy good. The only thing that could ever hold it back is if the shape doesn't work out for your preferences. It's total endgame mouse material. We feel very similar about how claw grip mice feel to use but have different aim styles which is interesting. I highly value the relaxed feel of the s2. I feel that I can be more consistent and reliable in my aim with a calmer grip despite having better raw mouse control and accuracy with the xm1. A slower feel on adjustments with the np-01s is a good way to phrase it. It's so thin and low that it has a lot of room to move in your hand when you are making aggressive wrist and arm motions, so it's hard to stay completely stable and you have to slow down and use your fingers to compensate. I can't wait for the za-13. The shape seems to combine a lot of things I like in a mouse design and I think that I would like it a lot. I picked up the g303 too, but I don't think it'll work out too well for my grip. I just wanted to try out something unique.

  • I wish i could use the xm1, ive tried it twice now and just can't get it to work. Specifically for me, my claw grip is VERY high up. with 20 cm by 10cm hands my ring finger wraps around basically the front of the mouse. Pinky curls in the back. This basically means that I can't use any mice that flare up front like razer viper, xm1 and the like as they push my ring finger out which feels weird. I know most people curl before that flare I just cant. That being said I was thinking of trying the np01. Maining the s2c atm wondering if its a worthy upgrade or just pass for now?

    @basil1596@basil15962 жыл бұрын
    • It might be. The front of the np-01 is the same as the s2 so you should be fine with your ring finger placement. The main difference you'll feel is that the np-01's hump is wider and gives you a little more room to place your hand atop it. I don't think that it would be a very large difference with your grip style, though. It's far more noticeable when you pincer claw like I do. Plus it flares out more on the left side and will give your thumb a little more support. I think that you should also consider the outset ax. It gives you a ton of room to place your ring finger on the right side and it being so high profile with a prominent hump allows you to get your hand pretty high up naturally. I'm posting a full review of that mouse friday or saturday night, so you can check out the shape more there.

      @KraftyCraftKraf@KraftyCraftKraf2 жыл бұрын
    • @@KraftyCraftKraf I actually have tried the outset ax and I aim like a beast with it. My problem with outset is the same as u mentioned with xm1 or more accurately the burst pro for you. It's just so full that that I find micro adjustments especially just the tiny ones annoying because it feels pretty wide. After I saw, as you mentioned, np01 also has a big ass I figured it'd be the same experience as outset but unsure now and kinda just wanna try it lol. I'm actually mainly just waiting for g303 wireless. I loved my g302 I'm really hoping it's good

      @basil1596@basil15962 жыл бұрын
    • The np-01 does have a very fat ass. If you have an issue with the outset's hump, then it would probably extend to the np-01 as well. The shape is really cool though, and unique options like it are always fun to use. The g303 looks super interesting. I'm not sure if the shape would work out for me, but I'm always keen to try out something new. My only issue is with the price. It seems kinda expensive for not being a superlight option like the gpx.

  • My xm1r has a scroll wheel problem. Whenever I scroll down, there is around 25% chance that it will scroll up like a HOME button on my keyboard. Also, The L/R click sounds different out of the box (Annoying hollow left click). After a research, I found a fix on the internet (take off mouse feet and loosen the screws). However, the scroll can't be fixed so It's RMAed. It has been almost a month of holding myself back not to buy another mouse while xm1r is in the process of rma.

    @darixcz@darixcz2 жыл бұрын
    • It's hard to say which is better for aiming because of how different the two mice are designed and feel to use in-game. Personally, I play much more calmly on the EC3-C due to how comfortable the mouse is and rely on crosshair placement, smoothness, and click timing to aim my best. On the xm1r, I grip very aggressively which I feel helps activate more muscles in my hand and arm to improve my mouse control and precision, but at the cost of less comfort and consistency. Which mouse is better for aim would be a matter of what you personally want a mouse to feel like and what style of aim gets you better in-game results. I think both options are very viable, but for different types of people.

The hump is slightly more prominent than on the gpx as well. The np-01s has a pretty unique feel and you may love it or hate it, but I think it could be good for you based on what you're saying.

    • The np-01 feels similar in size to the gpx, just with a more prominent hump. The np-01s will feel smaller than these two mice and would even end up being slightly smaller than the s2 in hand. An np-01 would feel very comfortable in hand as long as you're okay with having a hump that fills out a lot of your hand and adds a lot of support. Plus it will feel way heavier than the gpx, so you'll have to consider that.

    • I disagree. The sides flaring out gives it it's iconic feel. This provides the perfect grip for lifting the mouse. The burst pro has a similar flare as you move up the side of the mouse, just not as aggressive. This mouse shape is perfect imo.

      @BiggyJimm@BiggyJimm2 жыл бұрын
    • This ^. What makes the XM1 shape work well is how hard it commits to its aggressive design. I feel that it would loose most of its identity if the shape was toned down or made more safe. I don't quite think that its the perfect shape for me personally, I prefer something more balanced, but it's one of those shapes that has a high likely hood that it can click for you and work extremely well for your grip and be your top shape for claw.

    • It'll probably be doable but there are much better shapes out there if you want to fingertip. The hump is so wide and the mouse is still fairly long so it is likely that you will end up hitting your palm when you want to make larger motions with your fingers. Even a claw/ftip hybrid would likely feel a little awkward due to the humps bulkiness. The xm1 designed around being a pure claw grip mouse and I think you would be hard pressed to make other grips work out as well. I would recommend the Orochi v2 for fingertip instead. It'll feel much less restrictive and is a far more natural fit for fingertip grip.

      @tinychamberz@tinychamberz2 жыл бұрын
    • I think that shape is still the most important factor and the gpro potato feels pretty mediocre, especially compared to the XM1r. The GPX is where it starts to become more worth it because I feel that lightweight plus wireless is where it starts to get more attractive. At the 80g weight of the standard gpro, I feel wireless doesn't matter much when you compare it to good stock cables, but at 60g like the gpx it starts to feel really freeing. Shape will still be the most important factor for consistent mouse control, though, imo.

All went away after going back to the zowie s1. I wish they would made a version with slightly better mid palm support...that would truly be an end game for me.

    • Sounds about right. Any mouse that forces a relatively aggressive grip without supporting your entire hand can easily lead to discomfort. I didn't have this issue with the xm1 because I'm pretty sure my hands are smaller than yours, but the same thing happens to me with the np-01s. I'll make a full review on a few weeks but I'll be reviewing the LGG Saturn first. I was able to get a sample of that pad so it pushed the PA to the side for the time being.

      @tinychamberz@tinychamberz2 жыл бұрын
    • I get what you mean. That's actually a pretty good description of how the Equate feels. The PA is still very controlled overall because it has a lot of stopping power and feels locked in due to how the noticeable static friction adds stability to the end of movements. However, the glide is smooth and doesn't feel too slow once you get your mouse moving so it isn't as sluggish as a slower pad. It'll feel very locked in and more restrictive than a speed pad, but the glide stops it from feeling like it weighs you down.

      @KraftyCraftKraf@KraftyCraftKraf2 жыл бұрын
    • @@KraftyCraftKraf sounds good, i just would like something where i feel more consistent than on the mpc ^^ maube slightly faster than the pa then?

      @tinychamberz@tinychamberz2 жыл бұрын
    • Yeah if you're looking for an mpc alternative the PA is going to feel far slower, especially on small movements. The Traigun from xraypad is another codura surface that might be a good option. It's going to feel far more smoothed out than the mpc so you will lose some of that feedback you get, but the glide feels surprisingly controlled and might help you feel a little more consistent with it, overall. Then if you have the budget and can work around the availability, the Hien and Hayate Otsu are always stellar options. The Otsu in particular gives a feeling of control with its stopping power and texture but retains a good amount of speed and an incredible feeling glide. The LGG Saturn also seems pretty promising from how much I've used it because it will feel a little quicker on small movements than the PA, but I need some more time to give my full thoughts and a proper review.
