About us,
We are a family from the North-East of England following our dream to restore a beautiful abandoned french Château. We discovered the heart stopping Château De Lalacelle in summer of 2020, this beautiful architectural monument Is set in the countryside of North-West France.
The moment we visited the Château we all fell in love, from the beautiful sweeping landscape and forests, to its stunning untouched interiors and magnificent spiral staircase in the turret.
Unfortunately Château De Lalacelle has been abandoned for a number of decades so will need a lot of restoration and DIY.
Please subscribe and follow our families journey, with the up’s and down’s in moving from the UK to rural France and restoring this beautiful building to its former glory.

Patrick is living his best life! Digging till his heart’s content.
Absolutely 😊😊
Each week, watching your family and friends working on the restoration of your home is an inspiration. The sense of accomplishment must be immense! 😊
It is :) Thank you 🙏 😊
Looking back on the mess the place was in, to what it is today, is the difference of night and day. Gosh one forgets and how much Jonathan has grown from a small boy to a young man. Well done all of you.
It was so nice to see Rob, Ash and Terry visit Chateau de la ferte. The lamp accents look amazing Rob. I can’t wait to see what is done with the “bird cage” wire work. What a beautiful feature for weddings with vine growing all over.
I’m wondering if Rob bought their Chateau…
I think the "bird cage" was made for roses to climb on...
Patrick is digging his chateau life. Best helper ever. 🤣😂🤣 And then, there’s Tracy … wow! She never stops.
No doubt...She really keeps on the move. ♥️
I remember when Tracy and Ash uncovered that area, and realizing there was a wall! You've transformed the entire private area into something peaceful and welcoming. There's so much to do elsewhere, it's nice to know the upkeep will be minimal. Great job, everyone. Oh, and it was really something to see how much Jonathan has changed these past couple of years. He's no longer a little boy.
Thank you 🙏 😊
I had to smile at Patrick helping with the digging. I don’t know where you get the energy, Tracey. 🤗🇨🇦
Rob, you made me laugh when you slid the blower shoulder strap down and gave us a sexy smile. Keep it up, it adds to the content.
Thank you! The other gardeners were making fun of me as I was using the straps on my shoulders. They told me this was the year of the "off-the-shoulder" blower! Oh, well.
I'm so glad to see Supervisor Patrick helping out
Always Melanie 😊😊
Without Master Patrick nothing would get done 😊
What a great gift for Tracy much deserved.
A beautiful restoration of the grounds, well led by Tracey 💚💚💚 You couldn’t have done it without Patrick 🥰🌟💎
It was nice of Carole and Adrian to let you have a piece of their Chateau and fro Rob Giving them the finials for their lamps. The Pagoda, gazebo, pergola might look good a focal point in the center of the formal garden eventually. Great work as usual from all of you.
Agree, right now the pagoda is poorly placed in the middle of a gravel lot. It needs to be surrounded by greenery--spring bulbs and lavender for summer color. It looks odd where it is right now. And please don’t paint it black.
What a transformation in two years. All of you can be very proud.😊
It’s absolutely amazing how much the area has changed! So much hard work! Looks Beautiful!!
Thank you 🙏 😊
🇨🇦From sleeping in trailers in winter to now watch the Chateau being restored. Terrys eye for detail and execution of restoration has made me a believer.🏳️🌈💋😊
Thanks Zander 😊
Tracy, the cobbles look beautiful and I'm so glad you guys have your own private space to relax and enjoy the outdoors!
Thank you 🙏 😊
Wow!!! Because you do things gradually over time according to need, time, and weather, I had forgotten how the garden looked originally. What a transformation in 2 years. So much functional space now. Enjoy your well-deserved barbecue party 🥳
You all have created a most beautiful family space, It is elegant too. Hard work really does pay off. Enjoy this peaceful haven and be blessed.
So glad you got the gazebo from chateau de la ferte. I have been wondering why they never did anything with it. Now I know it was waiting for you guys. I love it and I also love how you have Transformed the side yard It's stunning.
Thank you 🙏 😊
GET THE POOR GUY SOME KNEE PADS! RIGHT NOW!
Looks great! Love how little Patrick is always the supervisor on the projects. 😂😢
From what it was, to where it is today is amazing. The amount of hard work you all put into the area is transformative and low maintenance but giving you a beautiful outdoor space to relax, unwind have a barbecue and to enjoy the fruits of your labor. Xx
What a lovely gift from Chateau de la ferte, it’s in it’s perfect setting, the whole area is just what you all need for your relaxation time. Rob is such a nice fella with a lovely present for Carol, see you all Wednesday 😊
Thanks Cheryl
What a blessing this move has been for all of you and all those folks that have been so kind to come and help out like Rob!! You are all truly blessed! Such positivity, all the way around!! Send well wishes for all of you!
Boys, that was a beautiful gift to Tracy and it adds to the area.
Thank you 🙏 😊
The most industrious group of people…so inspiring! 🙏🏻
You guys, your whole family are such hardworking bees. But without Patrick, no work in nature would be so beautiful and interesting. He is a real hard worker! It's very nice to look at all of you. The best choice is to watch your channel after a difficult day. All the best to you!
Thank you 🙏 😊 he’s always barking orders 😂😂
You're so fortunate to have Rob to assist you all. He's an amazing volunteer.🥇 He also seems so easy going too, that's a huge plus. He's been so helpful in restoring the Lalacelle woodwork. It's so awesome that he came back. I'm clearly a fan.👍 Jonathan has really hit a growth spurt! It's most apparent in the footage of him from 2 years ago compared to now. What a wonderful family to have around him. What a nice reuse of Château de la Ferte's "birdcage." A little clean and a lick of paint, and it will look new again.🌿 Is there a vine in its future? I'm anxious for the new chandelier.🤞 ❤ from TX!
The private garden is looking wonderful and relaxing great work everyone take care and see you soon 💕🌼🤗
🎉🎉🎉🎉 A 3rd caravan and volunteer and the team will be double 💪💪💪
Ash : dig with shovel… Patrick : dig with mighty paws. What a team 💕👏💕 Too adorable but it did make me laugh about loud at those little paws helping so earnestly. I love that little dog ❤️
I had forgotten how much work you guys had put into that area. it looks great enjoy your BBQ
Good morning all! Terry, Ash and Rob- just visited with you guys at Chateau de la Ferte! Those glass finials Rob gave Carole for her lamps were perfect! I was so happy to see Tracey today, slaving away on those cobblestones. I’m glad you guys got the pagoda from Carole and Adrian - it looks like it belongs in your garden and was meant to live there all along. Your family garden area is unrecognizable from just 2 years ago! I love it! Great video, everyone- can’t wait to go shopping for a chandelier on Wednesday. Cheers! ❤️🇨🇦
It looks lovely! I love the gift for Tracy!!! A great spot for tea. Glad you all got some sunshine and fresh air!
Such an incredible transformation! You are turning this into a wonderful & happy home 😊
Thank you 🙏 😊
I hope the crew get time to relax and enjoy the outdoor areas.
What a charming transformation, it’s lovely to see Tracy’s delight in the area. She works so hard on everything she does💗💗💗
Patrick never misses an opportunity 😂😂
Oh you got the pagoda from Carole and Adrian! That’s so nice. Oh I remember the early days… it took a great vision to see the beauty to come, out of that pile of debris. I am so impressed. Blessings to everyone.
"Sweat, Determination and Hard work" perfectly describes this whole family, especially Patrick🤣🤣

Love the way you all work together! The outdoor kitchen and the gazebo look great. ❤
Your hard work really shows! Plus, it's always a joy to see Jonathan's exuberance. Thank you. 🎉❤😊
The area has transformed oh so much in two years.. I love how the huge ancient trees shade the area You all can just keep glowing with pride. No need for chandeliers! C O N G R A T U L A T I O N S
Thank you Kenn! 🥰🥰

Thanks Noreen 😊😊
What a huge difference now 😊 the ground looks fabulous 👌 well done 👏 ❤
Oooh I like that hanging macrame chair!
Haha. That’s Tracy’s 😊😊
Wow, what a transformation! It looks fantastic! I was amused with Patrick doing his due diligence digging away and it seemed to be in just the right spot helping you get ready to place and cement paving stones. Jonathan is no doubt enjoying life and helping you big time. It's so nice to be a part of your life as you bring the beautiful chateau and grounds back to life!
I had forgotten what that area looked like when you first started clearing it, what a transformation. How wonderful of Carole and Adrien to gift you the Pergola, it could not have found a better home . Hoping the weather starts to cooperate a wee bit more and give you a couple of months to enjoy that fabulous BBQ 💗,
I've been noticing how Rob is getting so fit!
Good to see Patrick helps with the digging. Nice outdoor cooking unit.
Your family area looks so good and the outdoor kitchen is amazing!! 🎉
Thanks Carol 😊😊
Looking so homey and fun.........awesome work guys as always.
Thank you 🙏 😊
Johnathan has grown into such a handsome young man!
The gravel with trees around reminds me of visiting parks in upstate new york. The gravel paths would open up to lakes surrounded by trees...glorious. What a relaxing area you have created from sitting in the swinging chair looking out at the landscape, the beach chairs under the trees, the smell of the plants wafting through while sitting with friends. I also love how the area ties everything together and builds a community with the volunteers.
Every time I watched your channel I am awe-strucked
Happy belated birthday Rob! 🎉
Loving this area so much. So relaxing and peaceful to be with friends and family. A great place to make many memories!❤
Thanks Jo 😊😊
Patrick makes me smile each time you start work outside. He just has to be right there. He certainly doesn’t like sharing digging duties.😁
The transformation is beautiful.. You can tell there is heart and soul in all the job task you all do. It's done with LOVE.
Cover the outdoor kitchen to keep it nice and clean, great job guys. A joy to visit with you.
Everything so beautiful be proud of yourself!
Oh Tracy, I too am adding stepping stones and iron decor to my new (old) home n gardens and at the end of a long day I just want to sit and admire all of the backbreaking work and let my poor old bones relax...with tea...it looks amazing kids...ENJOY...!
Thank you 🙏 😊
Wow the outdoor kitchen looks amazing. You must all be so tired by the end of the day as you all work so incredibly hard and it shows and pays off. My hat is off to al of you! Bravo all!!!
Great to see Johnathan helping out again. Learning skills
Thank you. He’s a great help 😊😊
Bonjour! Bon courage !
I love love this garden area. You all did a great job. So nice Adrian and Carole gifted you the "birdcage". You alll will enyou so much family time out in this garden. Well deserved.👌😘
Thank you 🙏 😊
God love Mom. She is priceless. Take good care of her, gentlemen.
Thanks Pat! She’s amazing! 😊😊
Very Big different Look. Amazing. And so much hard work. You are all Amazing ❤
I live watching Patrick keeping an eye on what u all r doing. Like a supervisor. The grill area is awesome, and it makes it nice that everything is in one place. The pagoda is a great addition to the area as well. Having plants growing around the outside looks just right with the small table & chairs. What an addition to ur private area.
absolutely stunning transformation, enjoy the fun and memories made in it 🥰🥰🥰
Thank you 🙏 😊
What a beautiful addition to your back garden...the gazebo! And what a tranquil setting you have created....including the outdoor kitchen to make cooking and cleanup easier and fun! Thx for providing a reminder of what this area looked like and all the hard work to transform it! I anxiously await your vlogs to see what other adventures you delve into....and look how far you have come....so inspiring! Warm hugs from London, Ontario Canada!
Thank you 🙏 😊
It’s all looks so lovely. Next year, apply soil activator to strengthen the lawn and pre emergent to prevent the weeds from going to seed. I tried it for the first time this year. It makes a HUGE DIFFERENCE. I’m in Texas, growing Zone 9. I applied the first treatment end the end of March and the second in May. I have no weds in my lawn and it’s becoming thick again. Additionally I applied Nitrogen fertilizer ( for growth) and will apply phosphate fertilizer in fall ( to strengthen roots) In March and May I also put on an organic fertilizer, made from manure. In May I put on a liquid lawn aerator. After years of struggling my lawn is finally a lawn again. If you can, get a cover for your outdoor kitchen. It helps prevent it from rusting. I hope you had a wonderful BBQ and will create many happy memories.
Thank you. We will try that if it’s available 😊😊
Yes yes....thicken the grass chokes out the weeds....great recommendation!
The space is going to be so inviting! You can have lots of warm weather parties. You’ll need a fire pit for cooler evenings.
Thank you 🙏 😊
I love how your vision comes to life, its a lovely area for all your family and friends. Xxxx
What an amazing family you are love watching you 😘
What a lovely area you were putting together. Love that wrought iron gazebo.
From one 'just' job to another, you've transformed this once-forgotten area into a lovely, functional and truly inviting family chill-out area. I'm glad you showed how it looked in the beginning. Well done 🙌 ... I love the entire transformation. hugs from Canada (ps- I bet Ash cooked up a delicious feast?)

Beautiful area …what a gorgeous transformation. Love your continued progress on both the outside and inside of the Chateau. Watching from PA, USA.
Thanks Paula 😊
It’s amazing how it went from a place where trees went to decay to a beautiful gathering place for your family and friends. Great job!

@melanieparis8697 Yeah, I have a 12 year old ratter as well. His name is Murphy. Although he now only has 3 legs, he still loves to dig in the yard.😆
Such a cozy family space. So beautifully done. Just 1 thing missing...I think Jonathan needs a reward 4 all of his hard work. A "Jungle Gym", an esthetically pleasing 1 of course😉. Take care all. See you soon. Oh, P.S. so nice 2 see you all & Carole & Adrian sharing❤. I hope you can all get together 4 a nice BBQ.
