About us,
We are a family from the North-East of England following our dream to restore a beautiful abandoned french Château. We discovered the heart stopping Château De Lalacelle in summer of 2020, this beautiful architectural monument Is set in the countryside of North-West France.
The moment we visited the Château we all fell in love, from the beautiful sweeping landscape and forests, to its stunning untouched interiors and magnificent spiral staircase in the turret.
Unfortunately Château De Lalacelle has been abandoned for a number of decades so will need a lot of restoration and DIY.

I don't understand people who feel the need to criticize or belittle the labor you are putting your heart into. It is your vision and your dream. You are putting your personal touches on it. It may not be what some people deem to be appropriate, but it's just right for what you want and need. I'm in awe of all the hard work you're putting into bringing the Chateau de Lallacelle back to life.
i disagree with you on your comment. The whole idea of presenting a weekly vlog here showing the renovation of the property is to get people to become engaged with what is happening. Viewers should give their opinions otherwise why even present this to the public in a open forum.

Oh my…I keep dreaming of driving up that driveway with my daughter, when we celebrate my retirement! I will be able to say, I remember when they installed those lights, cleaned the Château, put those windows in, etc. I am so incredibly impressed and happy to see this beautiful Chateau start to live again. It’s almost like the Chateau is smiling. Ahhh…amazing everyone! Simply amazing!

People don't realize the sheer scale of work that goes into renovating & establishing gardens, restoration & everything yous do, unless they do it themselves. I've followed yous from day one. All of the previous owners of this beautiful chateau would be bursting with joy, it’s quite extraordinary how you have brought it back to life, you should be incredibly proud of yourselves. Your attention to detail and your skill set is mind blowing.

I’m feeling for you all at the moment. As I was reading the comments I saw a number suggesting to dismiss the naysayers, but wasn’t seeing it until I got waaay down. Here’s a few thoughts of mine that might help: 1. Don’t take it personally. Not everyone realises that when you are doing a restoration, you have to hunt for what you want at antique shops and you find the best thing you can. Not everyone realises that the ‘Perfect’ choice isn’t just sitting there ready for the taking let alone affordable. 2. It’s your chateau, and your taste and you’ve done an amazing job. 3. You have all been learning heaps of new things as you go. Some comments have been fabulous suggestions from people with obvious specific skills which I am sure you’ve found helpful at times. Some comments may be intended to be helpful but come across as criticism. Try to take it as well intended despite it perhaps not being worded as kindly as it could be, and remember that the commenter will not be privy to the research you’ve undertaken to discover the best way to do something or the best/available and appropriate product for the task. You know the research you’ve done. If you’ve satisfied yourselves then trust yourselves and just know the comment was made in the absence of the knowledge of your research. The comment may just be something to slot into the back of your mind to keep an eye out. 4. Most of the comments are overwhelmingly positive and you have a very big fan club because of who you are and what you are doing. 5. Pat yourselves on the back for having the patience to keep replying to people who ask if or when you are going to paint the iron fence, restore the awning, clean the tower. 6. Only you all know (or maybe just Terry) the final vision that will bring it all together just the way you want it. 7. It’s ok to go back and redo some things if you change your mind later, like the yoghurt painting of the fence. This is a dynamic, living, breathing restoration and some things you’ll change because you decide it suits you better, or have learned something you didn’t know before and that’s all part of the adventure. Who hasn’t done that?? Go team. Stand back and be proud and keep up that enthusiasm. Sending hugs and love all the way from Australia. Xxx ❤❤❤

The lights bring some elegance to the chateau. It looks stunning. You could use the edging stones, cut in half at the diagonal, and create a border around the lamp base. That way you can cover/hide the concrete foundation with white gravel and it won’t wash into the grass. As a passionate gardener, id like to to give a big shout out to the tremendous work you have done on your grounds. Getting rid of all the roots, brambles, overgrowth etc is a monumental task, and back breaking work. To see the flower beds taking shape is such a happy moment. It made me shed a tear. The gardens will look beautiful. Make sure you put high quality landscape fabric under all pathways or you’ll be weeding non stop. Cant wait gif Sundays video. Hopefully it’s more outdoor projects 🌷🌺🪻⛲️🪴😊

The lamp posts frame the chateau nicely. And the garden edging is very nice - very crisp and will really define the formal layout. The amount of work you accomplish is mind-boggling. Even Patrick had to rest!

Lights are beautiful, such a welcoming sign, giving light and life to the Chateau. Those little touches that make such a difference. Can’t wait to see how the gardens will look like, all those that come thru those gates will definitely appreciate all the hard work you have put into your home.

The lights are just the look it needed. It’s almost like they added life to the château. Once the fence gets painted white to match it’s really all going to mesh together do perfectly

I am lucky my father gave me the gift of the ability to visualize projects. I can just imagine how beautiful the entrance and courtyard will be. The lanterns are a perfect touch. It will all come together perfectly when the rest of the iron is painted and fountains installed. Glorious !

I like the lights; they're charming, and a great introduction to the chateau as you come up the long drive. I also like how clearly they mark the entrance, so you don't have people driving up to Tracy's side door! I was startled by how much greenery has grown through the wall since last summer. It's tenacious!
