The Forgotten Rooms on the Third Floor | Château Renovation | Ep 90

Bonjour à tous,
Its back to work at the chateau and the renovations continue on the third floor, on one side of the corridor it is fitted with six small storage rooms, each one in a sorry state, so the family get to work in patching up the paster work, sanding, painting and fitting each one with its very own light. On each cupboard has the original room letters and the original wall colour, so the family recreate the colour for the new walls.

About us,
We are a family from the North-East of England following our dream to restore a beautiful abandoned french Château. We discovered the heart stopping Château De Lalacelle in summer of 2020, this beautiful architectural monument Is set in the countryside of North-West France.
The moment we visited the Château we all fell in love, from the beautiful sweeping landscape and forests, to its stunning untouched interiors and magnificent spiral staircase in the turret.
Unfortunately Château De Lalacelle has been abandoned for a number of decades so will need a lot of restoration and DIY.
Please subscribe and follow our families journey, with the up’s and down’s in moving from the UK to rural France and restoring this beautiful building to its former glory.

  • Now that I've watched about every chateau renovation on utube.,,,mostly by British folks., I've decided the thing I like most on a of them, is that they all are happy to be where they are and doing what they are doing. Apparently, property in England is expensive so to be able to but a chateau and have property and some privacy is really appreciated! Whatever it is,,it makes me happy to be in my little rural town in Pennsylvania, USA,, with some property and privacy, and able to watch you all do all that work to transform these beautiful properties with your personal touches! Each different, but lovely! 😀 Thanks, love watching you all! Happy healthy 2023!

Considering the massive time and effort that you have already put into this project, completing the kitchen seems like it will be a picnic in comparison. 😊 Happy New Year.

  • Hi, You will I’m sure think I’m nuts but I would paint the kitchen a white color with light brown undertones. I would also put in one or two skylights with shades on them so you can let light in and not feel cramped as it is small. I would also put down lights from the ceiling and up lights from the top of the cabinets. Anything you do I’m sure will be nice but I love cooking and I think light in the kitchen is very important. Have fun!

All over … always adding your magical touch🎉 Is the floor on the hallway wood or brick? I’ve tried magnifying but ?? Yes, the kitchen walls need to be very light…even white will be great! You can add color with furnishings and kitchen gadgets. You won’t regret it. You can always paint one wall a complementary color …maybe at the far end of the room…! You’ll have it done before you know it! Please give yourselves a break! Wishing you and your awesome, kind, loving families a New Year filled with Joy, Peace, Hope, Health, and Love. • My only advice is to have whatever color you choose work well with the wood or surface color of your cabinets. Since you are concerned about the lack of natural light and it is a kitchen I would use a light valued color in a satin finish as it is easier to clean and better in a high moisture environment like a kitchen or bath.

I know it’s a bit of a cliche but a French provincial style kitchen would work so well. As for colour French Linen (pale grey) would work well with the exposed beams and if you’re planning to have a small table in the kitchen as well, a natural wood one would work well again tying in with the beams. Best wishes to the entire family and Happy New Year from Neil in Australia 🇦🇺
