POWER TO THE TOWER | Fitting electric in a French CHATEAU. Ep 92
Bonjour à tous,
This week at the chateau, Terry gets to work on fixing a problem that should have been done earlier on within the chateau tower. As there is no set plan to restore a chateau sometimes you can get lost with what jobs need to be done, and this is one of them, going back and fixing mistakes made, but a leason Learned and planned for the future restoration.

About us,
We are a family from the North-East of England following our dream to restore a beautiful abandoned french Château. We discovered the heart stopping Château De Lalacelle in summer of 2020, this beautiful architectural monument Is set in the countryside of North-West France.
The moment we visited the Château we all fell in love, from the beautiful sweeping landscape and forests, to its stunning untouched interiors and magnificent spiral staircase in the turret.
Unfortunately Château De Lalacelle has been abandoned for a number of decades so will need a lot of restoration and DIY.
Please subscribe and follow our families journey, with the up’s and down’s in moving from the UK to rural France and restoring this beautiful building to its former glory.

My Dad was a hard working man, he could do anything and everything. Terry and Company reminds me of him. Thank you for bring back his memory in your hard work. Hugs & Kisses from the Beautiful Hudson Valley, NY USA
Thank you Jae!
I don’t know how you guys work so hard everyday. I can’t even imagine crawling around on my knees all the time working on stuff the way you do! Terry, you are very talented. It’s a good thing you have so much knowledge in order to be able to do everything you need to do to renovate the chateau. Thanks for sharing your journey.
I am glad that Tracy and Tony are easing back. They have worked so hard, so relentlessly hard, time to smell a few roses.
Will be nice for them to have a break 🥰
Glad to hear that Tracy and Tony are taking a break! They both have worked very hard to make the cottage a home and all the work doing the road! Enjoy getting to know your part of France and relaxing.
I suspect we’ll still see Tracy on the shovel! 😊
I was always surprised, and admiring of Tracy and Tony's very hard and physical efforts on this project and know I would have a very difficult time keeping up with them even 1/3 of the time. I'm 59. I'm glad they are stepping away for a much deserved break/rest. And that Beauty and the Beast Cosworth clock is SO ADORABLE and appropriate for your French Chateau.
I very much enjoy watching Terry and Ash at work in the chateau. If every couple could work together as well as these two, the world would be a happier place.
As much as I'll miss Tony and Tracy, I'm happy to be seeing you two. So don't be sorry, Ash!
Thank you 😊
💕Ashley must be enjoying working in the warmth of the kitchen💕
His nipples are always erect, regardless.🤦♂️😂❤️
Tracy and Tony will be missed, they deserve every minute of a good rest. 😊 keep going boys great job. 👍
Thank you ☺️
when you are down to projects like this, after what you've done, this is the icing on the cake!
If anyone gives out medals for hard work and perseverance you would get the Gold medal. Job well done.
Thanks Jayne
Rest up Tony and Tracey you deserve a bit of a rest , good job it was easy to get that plug in ... let the Reno's for second floor begin 😁
Never ceases to amaze me the skills this family possesses!
Amazing how just one socket can make such a difference! Great job well done 😊
I enjoy a bit of playful whimsy in a room. The little clock is perfect.
Cogsworth just ticking away time in the background was just adorable 🤣🥰🕰🕰 And then you added Lumier!!
You folks are the epitomy of good old fashioned hard work and you do it so well, making it a joy for us all to see! Lovely, lovely people!
Another job well done! I am so glad to hear that your mother and father are going to take some down time to relax and do things that they want to do. You have all been going at it for so long....rests are good!! Thanks for the updates and see you Wednesday.
Thanks Jane! See you Wednesday
Glad to hear that Tony and Tracey are going to take a bit more time to enjoy life and get a better balance. They have worked so hard , it is good to take time and enjoy the fruits of their labour. It is no hardship to see more of you two.
Terry the landing looks so pretty with that beautiful chase lounger and table. I love the clock and the lamp is just my style. You did a excellent job on the electric job, you are so talented. God bless you all. Kathy 🇺🇸
YOU ARE ALL REALLY AMAZING!!! you don't shy away from any complex, annoying, wearisome, big job that must be done! Most of all you, Terry, you're such a compelling, motivated force, as far as I can see! I suspect we don't get to know most of the moments things seem just too hard to go on. We must thank you all for that, because you are such an inspiration! I live in an old house myself, and it sometimes... I'm fed up with all the work, costs and troubles that comes with it. But watching your all amazing resilience... I feel ashamed and simply go to work again 😉💖! Old houses have so much history in their stones and bricks, they deserve all our love. SO again THANK YOU!
It is always a delight to see the two of you. No apology needed Ash. I look forward to seeing every episode on your restoration journey.
I wish I had someone look at me like Ash looks at Terry. You two are so adorable together. plus a sleepy Patrick on your lap.
Of COURSE you need an outlet on the 3rd floor landing... How else would you be able to plug in lights for a CHRISTMAS TREE???!!!! Good work, Terry!
Hello, Terry and Ashley, really like your haircuts!! Will miss Tracy and Tony, hope to see them in passing but am happy to see more of you two!! Chuck in Northern New England
So pleased to hear your Mom and Dad are going to spend less time working as they have, and ENJOY the Fruits of their Labour! They are very wise. Maybe during their times, they can continue to share the importance of BALANCE! Many of us think we are going to live forever. Hence, we work and work and work and never find the time to ENJOY. It is awesome you both a supporting and encouraging their decisions. I, for one, feel blessed to see you sharing whatever, whenever you are able. We don't own you!☺ "Take time to smell the roses."🌹
Plus, they might really just like a little privacy,,more normal coming and going. I think they've done amazing,,behind the scenes there must be loads of discussions on who does what, and when. I hope we get to see it continue to unfold, as they make it look so natural...but there is still a lot of hard work to do. Thanks,,love watching!
When we had our house retired I wrongly left my husband at home with the electricians when I went to stay with the in-laws (had babies). I came home and now I can’t turn the downstairs hall light off upstairs but I can turn the upstairs and downstairs lights off downstairs. I have one plug in the upstairs corridor which now has our Wi-Fi booster so I have no plug upstairs now (in the corridor). I have been annoyed with this for over 20 blinking years. Good that you’re sorting the electricity issue earlier rather than later.
I'm sure you were disheartened when you realized you'd have to dismantle some of your work, especially with such an epic 'to do' list ahead of you. Yet, this is the sort of experiential learning to hold you in good stead for the lower levels and other outbuildings. The end result looks great, Terry. As for Tracey and Tony, I hope they enjoy their well-deserved break. You've all accomplished a remarkable amount over the past year.
Oh Terry your a Perfectionist, An Amazing Young Man Just like Mum Tracy & Derek, Jonathan Will End Up So Educated On Building , Terry You Are So Lucky 🍀 To Have the love ❤️ Of Your Ash 👌👌❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ 👍
Its good that Tracy & Tony can chill some. Cant get enough of you all and I guess we'll just have to muddle through with the two of you mostly. (wink) 🥰
I’m so pleased Tony & Tracey are taking it slower ❤
I can’t say enough about putting drawers in the lower parts of the kitchen. I have always hated getting on my hands and knees to find something at the back of the cabinet.
As we say in North Devon proper job Terry. Love how the socket surround matched the panelling.
I was watching another channel. Budo gave a tip. If you ever saw a hole, put the sawn thing out of the ceiling or wall or panel or wood, back next to the hole. If you want to repair the hole you always have the original thing and just place it back. So Terry,i hope you still have the round piece of wood you sawn out of the panel and put it back inside the panel and use it if needed.
Another job ticked off the list, neat and tidy 👏🏻 Wishing Tracy & Tony a bit more of the 'good life' which is richly deserved.
Ash, another job well done, you made it look so easy. I am happy Tracy and Tony are taking some down time, we love seeing you two just as much. So, until Wednesday, have a goodnight. Love from N.Y.
I was always taught the sign of a good workman was to tidy up as they went along, need I say more well done to all.
You did a brilliant job Terry, as usual. Thrilled to hear we’ll be seeing more of you two and that Tony and Tracy are going to start enjoying their beautiful cottage. (If ever Jonathan wants to hide, that little nook you’ve created is perfect) love to you all, Alex in Florida 💕🐥💕🐥💕
Good job hiding the conduit to that socket and not nailing through it putting the skirting back 😀 I once tried to rewire a light switch and the wires absolutely wouldn't budge inside the conduit. Turned out the conduit was just above floor level and someone had screwed the skirtings through the conduit, barely missing the wires. After pulling six rawlplugs from the conduit I could get a new cable through. Had to use cable instead of singles because of the holes in the conduit. Pro tip: in that back box put a small cable tie around the conduit to keep it from slipping back into the wall.
I love you two you make a great pair working together to make your dreams come true, Cannot wait till its done so me and my wife can come spend a couple of nights there, keep up the great work x
Well done you two your home is beautiful and a credit to you all. I love it when Terry says "hovering up" as we still say that too. God bless you and the family. 👏 👏 👏 👏. UTB
We say that too.
We live in Ontario and I love to hear the family talking in my own Middlesbrough accent.
The transformation of the top floor has been gorgeous. I can't wait to see the downstairs rooms transformed as well. Great job guys!
When I first moved to Toronto many moons ago, I soon learned not to say I needed to hoover! Canadians didn’t understand what I meant. They just didn’t use the brand name but used the word for the function - vacuuming. Nostalgic to hear the function calked hoovering.❤
Love seeing you Ash and Terry. Your work and chats are interesting. Glad that Tracy and Tony are planning to ease up a bit now that so much heavy structural labor has been completed. With the cottage being cozy and liveable, and your suite just needing your kitchen, there is a bit of breathing room in between projects. That is always a wonderful benchmark to hit👏🏻🥰
Well done all of you. Tracy and Tony had worked so hard 🥰 rest as Long as you need 👍🥰
Tracy and Tony taking it easy! I highly doubt that! One day of it, and they will be full swing again. Terry, that little area is even cuter now with the lamp and setee. Lord Patrick got a new reading spot now! Take care all.
Terry, you are looking nice and warm there! The place has come so far mate! I hope 🤞 your Mum is not out working somewhere, in the snow! The paneling looks 👍 great! Cheers! Thomas!
Job well done! That little Disney clock fits in perfectly. It’s so cute.
Fan-Tas-Tic! Even your dashound is matching the paneling color!😀
Your folks deserve a good rest. Once Spring arrives, I know you’ll be working with the landscape and I can’t wait to see glass panels on the overhead awning and what Tracy has in mind for the two circles in the front?
Oh I love those two, so creative and hard working, the Chateau will be wonderland. Thks Terry & Ash👌
I can't wait until spring and the grounds come alive again.❤
Me neither! I love being outdoors!
Hi, y'all from Nashville, Tennessee! I am so glad that the lamp can burn! I can't wait to see the huge chandelier! Won't that be something! You two are adorable together! Never let that go! ❤ Have a super week!
I love your Cogsworth clock.
Amazingly beautiful space...but please paint the white plastic brown so that it disappears🙂
Love your little third floor apartment waiting room ! Love you guy's! ♥
Congrats handsome Terry! It was a big jog and the result is very esthetic.
Hope you not making a mess of Robs lovely walls ha ha miss seeing his face around never had much to say but he seemed a very nice. guy bet he miss your company as well lv to u all xxxx
That corner looks perfect for a Christmas tree
I am a massive fan of this wonderful family, the one main ingredient that runs through, comes across and is plain to see, is love, your hard working ethics are to be applauded and the cottage and the Chateau are once again alive and just think you all made that happen, wonderful, much love xxxxxxxxxxxxxx😘❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Thank you so much for your kind words Stella :)
ดีใจที่พวกคุณ Renovate บ้านแต่ยังคงรักษาเอกลักษณ์ของบ้านให้คงเดิมอยู่ค่ะ So beautiful 🍎🍊🍊🍊
You sure had me laughing to myself talking about needing a plug to Hoover when all I could do is imagine you really needing a plug to plug in fairy lights for a Christmas tree. ...or... an air conditioner for the summer when it will be sooo hot in that upper landing.. and then I also kept thinking a Phantom of the Opera chandelier and what do you show at the end? A MASSIVE THEATRICAL CHANDELIER! Congratulations, you two never fail to entertain me.
Neat tidy job you have done Terry....Tracy and Tony deserve a bit of a rest xx
Installing the wiring is one job done. May not seem like much but it makes it difference in the long run. Well done
Great job, guys ❤ Can’t wait to see what Tracey does with the cottage garden 🥰
I love the sinks in the bedroom's, have first seen them in the abandoned Chateau, and homes I watch
Loving the panelling, really so beautiful 😍
It looks so warm and beautiful.
Love you two 🤗 so seeing you more will not be a chore ! You are such great people and I love your relationship and banter. You are creating one very beautiful chateau, well done 🤗
Thank Susannah :)
Water sensors! Great idea. I need to place one on our attic where our hot water tanks are. So excited to see this next phase of restoration. I'll miss Tracy & Tony but am happy they are relaxing a bit and enjoying their cozy cottage. The chandelier is stunning, Terry. The installation will be spectacular I'm sure.
You have such a gift of placing furniture and creating an inviting space that makes one want to linger… just beautiful as usual!!!
I’m amazed at the complexity of every modification to the chateau. Great job on all you do. 🌺
I always enjoy watching . Guess you’re always learning as you go. Looking forward to seeing the kitchen.
I’m glad to hear that Tracy and Tony are taking time to settle into their new home and enjoying some much needed time for themselves. It’s always nice to see Terry and Ash and the next projects planned. Good job Terry. I was happy to see enough space behind the paneling for you to get the electrics put in place. That’s a pretty little corner of the tower. xx
Amazing video once again. Wonderful job hiding the “electrics”
Thanks Patricia :)
You did a great job Terry , well done X
Well done Terry putting in that cable to connect up the new powerpoint. You really are so very clever with all the different skills you have. You and Ash have really transformed that upper floor along with your parents, Ash's Dad and Rob. It is all fantastic. Sorry I missed the live chat, but I had to sleep because of the time differences between you all and me down under. Am so glad Tracy and Tony will have a break. Best, David
Thank you ☺️
Hi Terry and Ash, loved the vlog an great to see another job ticked off the list. Loved that little clock such a wee beauty. I'm really looking forward to one day finding a grand father or mother clock to go at the bottom of my stairs once they are complete. The chandelier, oh my if that's what's actually going into the space then you need to crack a bottle to celebrate, that quick glimpse didn't do it justice, but it looked a beauty. Just don't forget to put the mechanism in do it can be lowered for cleaning. Looking forward to what you will bring us in 2023. Cheers from Melbourne.😊👩💼
Brilliant job Terry, you two are very clever love watching you at work. Looking forward to your next job, take care love from Jones family. 🏴❤️😘😘
Hi from Aus. 🌏 Great to see you back. 🙂 I was so hoping you'd single across a secret cavity behind the skirting board with hidden treasure in it! 😅😂 Job well done though! 👍
I love watching you all. Terry you and Johnathan share many mannerisms, it's lovely to watch and notice 😊 seeing you doing the wiring into the paneling, have you ever wondered if there are hidden doors into forgotten rooms? I'd be tapping to see if I could find something 😊 You'd better hide Traceys spade or she'll be back at it 😊 take care all. Janxx😏🥰
Terry, you could easily teach a How To Resort A Chateau class. You’re a naturalist with your talents. The clock is adorable, is it old?
Yeah more of your two 🙌🙌🙌 all the videos are fine with me 😁
Yah!! More of you two. I'm excited to see your progress!
Fab job Terry 🎉 you make it look easy !
Terry you always make complex jobs look easy! Great location for Monsieur Cogsworth! Salutations à Tracy, Tony et Jonathan !
You are so smart and can do anything that you want to, you are a perfect family.
God bless yall love your spirit glad mum and dad are taking some time to enjoy your beautiful home and surroundings. Everyone needs to replenish their soul sometimes hope you do the same.
that job was strangely satisfying to watch! looking forward to seeing the start of the next floor. its looking gorgeous
Wonderful job on the electric plug! 🔌 It would be neat if you could paint the white part to look like the wood paneling.
When I was a kid, my dad and uncle had a machine/welding shop. It was made of cement blocks with no kind of insulation. They had an acetylene plant. The byproduct of it is white lime. My cousins and I periodically would brush that lime onto the outside of the walls to seal them. I would think you could find something to help seal up those stone walls. I would imagine it would be quite a project, but with Patrick's help, you could surely do it. 😆 🤣
All of you are so handy, it is incredible
Another job well done!! I have learned so much from watching y’all, I’m actually taking on projects in my own home! I just turned 59 at the end of November and never really had a desire to do renovations or restorations, I’ve watched every one of your video’s plus a couple others and now I want to renovate my whole house!
We love seeing you two ! 😀
I know it needed to be done, but I actually cringed when you drilled a hole into the paneling. I love the cozy little set up afterwards.
Good morning from oklahoma, USA
vacuuming! Wow what a chandelier!!
I love that clock ⏰
A job well done! Keep your enthusiasm !
Thank you!
Love the little sitting area you have made on the landing. It looks so cozy and inviting. Can't wait to see the kitchen finished and the start of the new rooms.
