Disabled Woman INSULTED By Neighbor For Her OVERGROWN Yard

I was driving around to see if anyone was in need of a free lawn makeover and noticed this neglected yard. I knocked on the homeowners door and told her I'd mow her tall grass for free. She almost started crying when she heard that. Due to a recent disability, she's been struggling with upkeep of the property. The backyard hasn't been cut since last year. She also told me that she'd recently been insulted for having such an overgrown yard. What a world we live in where people would rather insult than help each other out. Hope you enjoy the video. Please be a blessing to someone today! :)

    • Yes, sometimes it is just something as simple as watering their flowers while I am watering my garden, helping out with edging, or recently I powerwashed a bunch of stuff for folks. Made sure to ask first and get permission, and settle any fears that I was complaining about their property, but it has been some fun afternoons in this neighborhood and was nice to help out.

  • I felt this on a personal level. My neighbour knocked on my door one day and asked if they could mow my front yard because they were selling there house. When they noticed I was in a wheel chair and found out what happened (really bad accident on the way to work), they commented they wondered what happened because in the past I had always kept my yard looking great and were wondering what had changed. The long and short, instead of abusing me about my lawn, they were willing to do something about it which in the end helped both of us.

    • I can understand. In 1996 I broke my back. Had to have ribs taken out to support my spine. I was in a wheelchair for 5 years. I was scared to death I would be dependent on someone helping me the rest of my life. I worked out 4 days a week for 8 long years building my back and and lower back. Lost a 105 pounds in the process. I'm officially disabled but not helpless. I walk and do many things my doctor would be upset about, but I am going to live my life on my terms no one else's. I do what I can do and I need a break from the pain I take it. Then up and back at it. There are people we can help that are worse off than we are that truly need help doing something's. Only a selfish person would not do it. But are the first to ask for help. There are always going to be people that prey on others. We just need to make sure that don't happen. Close communites don't have these problems often. I'm sorry for your injury. But you can still do for yourself, and that's a good thing. Never be so proud you can't ask for help when you need it. Most of the time you will get it cheerfully. Blessing.

  • I have had rheumatoid arthritis for 11 years. I'm 71 now. My disabled son lives with me. Even though he's disabled, he keeps leaves blown and bagged, plants a little vegetable garden every year, and tries to help with household chores. I do the grocery shopping and sometimes cook. Chopping things is hard because my hands are so afflicted. And my young granddaughter cooks for us too. We all help each other as best we can. God bless this young man!

    • I am disabled. I use a walker (or a cane for short distances.) A friend will take my trash up to the road for me. My driveway is on an incline making it almost impossible for me to do it. My friend's husband was in stage 4 lung Cancer.Naturally my trash was not a priority for her. She forgot to bring it down for me. So I walked up the hill and got it while my neighbor stood in his yard and watched. When I got about half way back down the drive he ask me if I needed any help. Now I know it not his place to help but what took me 20 minutes to do he could have done it in 2 minutes.one day that man will need help. But karma never forgets.

Are they unworthy or not of true enough faith and made to suffer the consequences? Please explain to me how 'he' chooses to let most be sick, to suffer, or die before their time. I'm not trying to be snide or disrespectful... I want to learn how 'HE' works so that few are helped and the masses just go on having problems. In my culture we learn our Creator gives us the strength to deal with the issues that happen in life, not that they will be removed. That is what I want you to tell me about.

    • @@raymondcarter1137 - Back in the day, I was the first one to help if I saw a need, without asking. I am a friendly person, and they would never have needed to beg me for help. Now that I have developed a chronic and disabling health condition, there aren't too many people who seem willing to do what I was willing to do. (I know not all are able, and I understand). And by the way, before you say I didn't ask for help, I did. I paid three different lawn people who flaked out on me. I understand not many want to work in 107 degree heat, which we have had this summer where I live, but I was willing to meet them at 6:00 AM, if necessary, so they wouldn't overheat. So, it's not as simple as you seem to think. That's why I am moving to a detached townhome with a small yard, which is the right size for me to keep up, in what seems to be a close-knit community.

That enabled all the other planners to point to my projects to force their developers to provide ADA designs. I loved that part of my job, fighting for those that unfortunately are ignored sometimes.

Additionally, all disabilities are not visible. So if you're neighbor's lawn, or whatever, is not being attended to, just check in on them to see if they're ok. Both my husband and I are disabled, but we have a couple of neighbors who are either elderly or disabled, so when he can, he mows their grass or clears their driveways from snow unless someone else has already done it. We were recently gone out of state for 2 months for a family emergency, and our neighbor mowed our yard twice while we were gone and we are so grateful that she did that because he would have had to go around at least twice, lowering the mower deck after that first time. I hope that neighbor is embarrassed by what she did. God bless you sir, we are supposed to look out for each other whenever we can, and you did it 10 fold as I watched the entire video.

  • I've watched a few lawn videos and yours is by far my favorite. You really put in the extra effort, moving things around, posing things when you're done. You don't put the home owners on camera as content, you just do what you came to do and show case your work. It is really respectable and you seem like a genuinely good dude. thanks

It's not money and power that make the world go 'round, it's love and kindness, and you can't have one without the other. You are a blessing and you are blessed.
