Bucket My Favorite Bucket System www.hawaiidetailing.com/washb... These are high quality buckets with gamma lids and a wheeled dolly
Step-by-step guide:
Prepare your cleaning solution in the bucket: Mix a small amount of dish soap with water in a bucket. This DIY solution is tough on dirt but gentle on your windows.
Apply the soap directly to the scrubber: Apply a continuous line of dish soap down each side of the the scrubber.
Squeegee: Use the 2 Stroke or Fanning method depending on the size of the window. As a rule of thumb if the window is less than 2 squeegee’s wide a 2 stroke method is acceptable. If the window is larger than 2 squeegee’s wide fanning is recommended to avoid streaks and lines. As a beginner using the stroke/pull method is the easier of the 2 methods. It gets great results and should be considered until you get comfortable fanning.
Repeat if necessary: For particularly dirty windows, don't hesitate to repeat the process until you achieve the desired cleanliness. Also do not be afraid to practice your technique over and over until you perfect it. Its not hard.
Inspect & Correct: Use a dry lint free glass microfiber cloth to polish away any streaks or missed areas as a finishing touch.
This easy window cleaning method is perfect for anyone looking to achieve professional results without the hefty price tag. Give it a try and let us know how your windows shine! Happy cleaning!

Looks like I'll be washing some windows when the weather warms up. Thanks for the technique!
Hahaha. Yeah that’s what I did too.
Wow👏 Have been cleaning windows for years and always used dishwashing liquid, always wiped the soap off with a wet microfibre cloth. Won’t be doing that ever again. Just tried your technique and my sliding door and windows look like they have been done by a professional. TY👏👏
Thanks for sharing. I appreciate it
This is by far the BEST window cleaning tutorial I have ever seen! Thank you!
@@yvonnesmith2578 thanks a lot.
Between this and your deep clean grilling video, I like where you’re heading with general home cleaning tutorials. Great stuff man. I appreciate how nuanced you are with doing a detailed job 👍🏻 looking forward to the next home cleaning vid!
Thanks a lot. I appreciate it
I was going to invest in some proper window washing equipment this spring. Perfect timing for this video, thanks!
Yeah. Thanks for watching
When using the blue window cleaner here is the secret use news paper no streaks perfect cleaning every time my mom cleaned glass show cases every year and this worked every time.
I’ve watched people washing windows many times using the fanning method, which requires a very flexible wrist and when you get down to the floor for doors I find that awkward. The point the got me was cleaning off the edge so you don’t get streaks. I would never have thought of that so I’m going to give it a try. I might even buy a professional squeegee. Thanks so much for your professional explanations. A great, helpful video 😊
Thanks a lot. I appreciate it. Get a great squeegee. They are inexpensive and make the job easy. I have links here if you need them. www.hawaiidetailing.com/windowcleaning
You took clean windows to the next level 😊
Hahaha. Thanks
Yesterday I finished taking care of weeds. Guess I will be doing this next weekend 😢. I usually buy a gallon window solution at home depot that has the washing and shine in it. Windows are easy, but I have 20 foot wide sliding doors for the patio. I have used a power washer to rinse of the dirt and then spray soap solution in canon power washer. Then squidgy and wipe off any edges if needed. In AZ power washer works well to get the heavy dust off. I will try your method for the windows. Thanks
Yeah great to hear you have a good method. The scrubber / fanning method is a good one. You will like it for sure.
This is the first time I realized you aren’t supposed to rinse the soap off the window.

Thank you for this tutorial. I never used pro gear before, but thanks to a simple $18 investment, I was able to clean all the windows/glass doors in my apartment in only 20 minutes (normally takes over an hour with Windex and paper towels). Not sure if there are different strokes with the fanning method for really large windows/doors like the two that separate my living room from my balcony, but the basic techniques you teach worked beautifully. Thanks again for this tutorial and content!
Great to hear that it helped. Thanks for sharing your results.
Great video Jeremy! This is good info for me as our house has sliding glass doors on every room and there's a lot of glass to clean. Keep up the awesome work.
Give it a go. It’s kinda fun fanning the windows.
Nicley done. Good to see you branching out into detailing around the house.
Thanks. Trying to do a variety of things that are fun projects when I can.
Your videos are so comprehensive. Thank you!👍🏿
Glad you like them!
Great video! I love that sealant. I have used it on quite a variety of surfaces to add depth and make the surfaces easy to clean. Great on glass inside and out. Fantastic on auto glass!
It’s a good one for sure.
Great tips for keeping those windows clean. 👏
Thanks.
Im a professional window cleaner. So a few things. Dawn leaves a residue. Thos will attractive dirt. If you want long twrm clean use a professional solution from home depot or menards. Better longer results. I dont use dish soap. Its ment to be rinsed. The soap should allow rubber slip but only enough to allow slip and not be excessivly sudzy. Sudz are bad leaves more marks. A flat mucrofiber or bronze wool pad will work much better than the mop. Mote aggressive but use a 0000 grade bronze wool.
Great video. I am getting started in the window cleaning business and this video had alot of helpful tips.
Thanks.
Been loving the content man! Another awesome vid! Big up!

Awesome video. Love your communication style. Great info and demo. Subbed!
Thanks a lot. I appreciate it
Good tips. I’ll be using these in the future!
Thanks I appreciate it
Wowee wow wow…..EXCELLENT! Products look great and YOU, sir, are a most wondrous teacher who has just made a mundane task appear challenging, fun and a wee bit of a thrill. I don’t even know how that’s possible. 🤷🏻♀ You are da MASTER at this! As for that polish…..I’m thinking this is a great way to deal with those dog-nose-smears at my house. Thank you! ❤
Thank you. I appreciate it. The sealant is a great product.
Crumpled newspaper and methylation spirits work wonders. EEZY PEEZY!!
This is a great video. I’m actually excited, for the first time in my life, to clean my windows!
Hahaha. I had a good time too
Thank you! I was so frustrated with this. Great tips
Glad it helped!
I have two of those Unger MF heads, 18 and 14-in, and I find using a rectangle bucket easier to use than the 5-gal round bucket. All great tips, but the best is watching window washing process on a high rise building. They are all about efficiency and speed while hanging on for dear life (working inside one of those buildings...LOL).
Yes I agree. Yeah and those guys are kinda nuts.
Thanks for the great info !!!! Never thought I’d be excited to get out on the porch and wash the windows . I ordered the squeegee per your link - I’ve got the dawn, scrubber and bucket ready to go ! Excellent, clear (pun intended) instructions 👏🏻😁 Thanks again !!!
Thanks a lot.
@@HawaiiDetailingIt was a nice afternoon - got out there and used your methods - lots easier, better and faster ! - turns out I already had the Unger equipment on hand from last year - worked like a charm - thanks again !
@@JaneJJoyce you are welcome. Glad it all worked out. With practice it gets faster and easier.
Great video, what about the other side of the windows that are indoors?
In most cases you can do the inside using these methods. You just have to work more carefully. Squeeze more water out of your applicator to minimize dripping. Place a towel under the window to catch excess water.
WOW! I love your step by step explanation for the process and the various squeegee methods! Well done. I know that you are an auto detailer as well. Would you recommend a similar process using the squeegee on the windshield and other windows?
Thanks a lot. I would just use a waffle weave and a high quality glass cleaner on a car.
Very well done!
Thank you very much!
Oh man you cracked the code! 😂 Great video brother! Very detailed and informative. I love it! I just subscribed to your channel.
Thanks a lot.
Nice I def gotta try this process!
You should! It works well
awesome video!
Glad you enjoyed it
Jeremy, I went down this rabbit hole a year ago. last summer I decided to try McKees N-914 rinseless wash and it worked great! I think any of the rinseless washes would also work great.
Good to know. Thanks.
Something I love about dish soap is it's inherently not going to leave residues or perfumes behind. It isn't going to leave a film on your dishes or make them smell like perfumes. It's honestly great at cleaning most surfaces. I've used it on floors to clean up "drain backups" (Along with bleach obviously), and obviously washed my hands a few thousand times with it. They use it to clean off oil covered animals, so it's probably good for just about anything lol
Yeas. Its surprisingly good at cleaning especially windows
Thanks!
Thank you. I appreciate the support.
you are a freaking window cleaning boss. thanks for sharing
Thanks
Awesome video 👍
Thanks.
This is awesome! Man this is explains why the glass I clean looks like a drunk person did it... I'm going to try your way
Good Content thank you!
Glad you liked it!
Great tips
Glad it was helpful!
Everything looks pretty good except dishwashing soap will leave a film. Spend the extra pennies for a pro solution like Dazzle. Why go through all that work only to have a haze in a month? There is nothing wrong with using straight pulls. Wipe the squeegee blade EVERY time before setting on glass.
Thank you.
You're welcome!
Thank you for the video! I always learn something from your videos. This one was very detailed and beautifully produced. I have a window that gets hit by a sprinkler all the time and has mineral spots built up on it. I wonder if there is a detailing product that could help with that? Again, thanks for the videos :)
Thanks. The sealant in this video will surely help but if it getting hit every day you will have to keep after it. Here is where you can find the links if you need them. www.hawaiidetailing.com/windowcleaning
I will give that a try. My wife ordered the products from amazon via your links. Again, we can't say thank you enough for all the helpful information! @@HawaiiDetailing
So thorough - excellent video. Glass shower doors? Watch his video cleaning those. His method is the best!
Thanks.
Love the Marcel Marceau demo. Thanks for another great video. But I'm NOT showing the boss this one.
Hahaha Thanks
Great video as usual Jeremy. I like how you use auto products for home cleaning. Question... is the link for the Microfiber Towel Lint Free Glass correct? It links to an all-purpose towel, not a glass towel.
Thanks and sorry the link is messed up. Here you go. These are great high quality towels. This is the diamond weave amzn.to/3UUrGtq and these are the waffle weave amzn.to/49oJtNF I really like the waffle weave of the 2 but both are great towels. Here is a more economical waffle weave version that is still a good quality towel amzn.to/3Ict5nj
This method seems to work great for the exterior of the windows. It would be great to see how to do interior sides of the windows, which won’t tolerate as much dripping and mess. I have just been using Stoner Invisible Glass Spray, but sure there is a better method.
Thanks for the suggestion. Will follow up with that one soon.
I came on here with that exact same question. Thanks.
Thanks
Welcome
I’m own a marketing agency and I’m looking for a good industry to help my son start a biz together. This was awesome. Ty sir
I like your methods and your results. I will try it, but first I need to order a squeegee. Thanks
Glad it was helpful!
Nice video, you did a great job, in my opinion, of providing a nice tutorial for window cleaning What kind of sealant are you using on the windows? Are you applying the sealant on the inside of the window as well as the outside of the window? Thanks in advance for your response.
Thanks a lot. Here is everything I used and some extra info. www.hawaiidetailing.com/windowcleaning it is best used on the outside of the windows to protect from the elements. Can be used almost on any surface to add protection from water dirt etc. making clean ups easier.
Great thanks
You are welcome
Thanks for the video. Would this work on solar panels? Looking for recommendations
Here is how I did Mine. Old vid but still how I do it. kzhead.info/sun/g92tp657oIOXnHk/bejne.htmlsi=a9sZXQFWy89ST4IZ
I find it really good to use an interior scrub pad we use for cars, Scrubs the glass real good.. Not ideal for large windows though, Perfect for cars though
Yeah. Thanks for sharing.
Dope advice. Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
Clean windows on a home really make a difference! I would recommend you clay the glass as well. It too collects contaminants and needs decon just like our vehicles glass. It helps make the sealant last way longer too of course.
Do the ziploc bag test and you’ll see 👍🏼
Yeah. Thanks. I agree.
@@ShineAndPreserveDetailingwhat is the ziplock test?
@@nanasloves it’s an easy way to physically feel contamination on a surface like paint or glass. You clean the surface then simply put your hand inside a sandwich bag (or really any plastic bag) and then just lightly feel the surface. Try it out. You’d be surprised what is there beyond the naked eye.
@@ShineAndPreserveDetailing huh! Who knew! I liked your explanation on using the squeegee, it’s alway good to get better!
You are one of my favorite detailing channels, and this video came in time for spring cleaning. One constructive criticism: please eliminate the woosh sounds when text appears on screen. I lost count after 100 wooshes. It really is distracting. Keep up the great videos!!!
Thanks a lot. I agree on the text sounds. Thanks for the feedback.
Great tips on what to use and how to wash your windows. How do you feel about the electric window cleaners?
Thanks. I have never used one.
Gracias😊segui los pasos y me quedaron brilliantes mis ventanas🙂tengo una duda es sellador sólo se pone por fuera ?.....o también por la parte interna de la ventana?.o no tendría sentido.🫣
I only put it on the outside trims.
This all looks great for the exterior. But what do you suggest for the interior. You can't have all that mess dripping down walls etc. Do you recommend just the old Windex/Papertowel method ? Sorry if its mentioned further down in the comments.
Great tips... and awesome Music! 🎧 Your own?
Thank. I appreciate it. No not my music. I like it though
Great Video! I heard getting shredded helps in cleaning glass! Just saying! Nice job Bro!
Hahaha. Thanks man.
Hahaha thanks man
I like ONR (Rinseless) to clean my windows, inside & out. If windows are very dirty, follow up with IPA mixture. Then I use TW Seal "N Shine as a sealant. P.S., I use Seal "N Shine in my shower as well. Thanks for your testing...
Thanks for sharing. Good plan
What is the IPA mixture please. Thanks
@@lindaperry7235 about 80% distilled water & 20% isopropyl alcohol...
You have some nice windows
Thanks.
you are wonderful
Thanks.
I just came on your video and subsribed. Just have a couple questions about it, (1) There's a difference between a microfiber towel and a lint free one? (2) When applying the sealant it's removed before it's dry or do you let it dry then buff it away? Thanks
There are different quality grades of towels. A glass specific towel leaves no lint behind. Cheaper towels from Walmart leave little lint trails. Remove the sealant before it’s dry. It’s a spray on, move product around the surface with the towel, flip to dry side and buff off. Hope that helps.
Can you do a review on Maxi suds please
Does this also go for inside windows as well?
I use P&S absolute and call it done
I am in Texas & have sun screens on my windows. Is there an efficient way to clean the windows without removing the screens?
What are your thoughts about adding vinegar to the dawn detergent solution?
Not sure??
I ues the Karcher window vacuum, it's ok for a quick rush job with my technique BUT for a deep clean the way you are doing it is the way i would do it. Just with distilled water.
Great point. Thanks
Is this the same as diamond fusion international
I'd be curious if you compare the dish soap to a waterless wash like absolute. I tried it the other day and was super happy with the results.
Yeah that would be interesting to test. Thanks.
My windows are so easy to clean.,Hubby can power wash from outside but I have the kind I can wash both sides from the inside. I use just plain alcohol with some old wash cloths and they are so shiny and have never had a streak. I tried the alcohol one day and could not believe how wonderful they looked. I never use the blue stuff as you say and no paper towels. We have another item that you clean your car windows with, but I can’t think of the name right now, but I don’t use that either. My husband uses it outside, but I use plain rubbing alcohol
Thanks for sharing
Can you use a rinseless wash like ONR or Absolute instead of dish soap with the laser cut sponge?
I have found the dish soap and squeegee to be the best method.
Where did you get those mini hand squeegees? Thanks for the video.. I hate doing windows
www.hawaiidetailing.com/windowcleaning here is all the products
I kept hearing you say pool. So I looked at transcripts, in the transcript you say pool. But what I think you meant was pull. I just needed to see what you were actually saying definitely gonna try this method.
Hahaha. Yeah. Sorry.
This great but I have true divided windows - how can I make this work for me?
I have used Dawn for years on my glass. My mother asked me how I got my mirrors streak free. I said a touch of Dawn in water and dry get excess water, then air dry to a clear mirror. I use on windows too. I use a sponge mop and squeegee. Easypeazy!
Thanks for sharing
Do you have a cleaning method for glass showers with soap. Scum buildup?
Yes. Check this out. www.hawaiidetailing.com/showerdoor
I use vinegar and a little dish soap. Heat the solution in a pan, apply and let it sit for 10 to 15 minutes and rinse. That's it.
Would you recommend it for car windows? Interior and exterior? Or would Adams Car Wash soap be better?
I would stick to a traditional auto detailing window cleaning with detailing products. Check here for what I use www.hawaiidetailing.com/windows
I was hoping you would cover the cleaning of windows on 2nd/3rd floors
The hardest is big or tall window that you need to use an extension on. It takes a lot of strength. Any helps?
Unfortunately it’s a lot of labor on some windows. You can consider a ladder or step stool. Sorry I don’t have more.
What about cleaning the windows inside the house? Same process? I would be concerned about excess water on the trim...
Very helpful; …how about 2nd story windows using a ladder??
That's a great question. Not many 2 story house here. Extension pole or ladder but be extremely careful and educate yourself on best practices for high ladder use.
Using this method on shower glass doors works well too. If they are really dirty might take a few passes but it will work. On my shower glass doors I take an extra step and do an IPA wipe down before putting a sealant on, but that’s me. Thanks for the video 👍✌️☮️
Nice. Yeah an IPA wipe is a great idea. Thanks for watching
Try heated vinegar with a little dish soap on the glass shower. Wipe it on, let it sit a while and rinse clean.
Can u place this sealant on all window frames? It looks like u a placing it on metal frames, but is wood frames also okay? Painted frames?
Paint frames yes. Painted wood yes but durability may be reduced some. Should work well. Make sure they are good and clean before application.
I did what another video said to do and my windows were SO STREAKED!!!
Does this work on mirrors?
Nice! I use dish soap but have always added a little vinegar to my solution as well. I have 14 8' tall windows in the front of my house, and they face West. This is the only method that does not leave streaks visible in the afternoon. One question though, why the extra turn of the squeegee at the bottom? Why not just take it to the corner for the turn down finish?
Just how I finished. i am always changing as needed to close out the bottom.
Q. How do you do tall 8 feet tall sliding door/glass.? Any tips there.
I would use an extension pole if you are unable to reach. Here are a few good ones in my links. www.hawaiidetailing.com/windowcleaning
Only a rookie uses soap (Dawn) on windows. Cleaned windows for 25 years. One of my sales “tricks” was to clean a window next to a Dawn “professional”. Used a professional solution.
Pro tips - always clean windows in the shade when possible to avoid Sun heated glass from drying out too quickly & to help avoid streaks. Also, use those little brass keeper clips in both ends of the squeegee & don't let the rubber stick out from the ends more than 1/8". This allows exact edging so you don't have to wipe the edges as much, & also helps prevent edge drips before you can wipe them. I cleaned residential windows for 40 yrs. There's a bunch of things I could tell you but these few things are the most concise. An ultimate guide to cleaning windows would be by a pro, but this quick guide isn't bad for an amateur.
40 years?! You sound like a pro. Could you write a guide? I start a job cleaning windows tomorrow, so that information would be very useful.
@@PimpT091 Nah don't care to, sorry. You should be able to find all you need online, even if it's just KZhead vids. A good tip is to get your supplies from J. Racenstein. Good luck in your new endeavor & always remember safety first, it'll save your life.
How often do you use the sealant? Every time you clean the windows?
I only use the sealant when the water repelling properties have faded (water does not bead on the surface). You can use it every time without issue but it would just use extra product. Thanks for watching
Something I never understood (even with car detailing) what's the benefit of using a squeegee?
On a large house or business window it can be done perfectly in less than a minute with a squeegee. With rags it would take forever. Thats the biggest reason.
What do you do with the inside of the windows?
