What do you do when the windows are high up, but you can’t get a good ladder location? (Uneven ground or bushes in the way.)
Completed my first job today, glad to get past those first customer jitters, working for yourself is awesome!!
Congratulations bro I’m in windows washing game too good luck
Onwards and upwards mate all the best you should smash it 👍
My first is today and I’m very nervous haha
@@drewwatson675 how does it went ?
I have a roadside assistance business and am looking to hire someone so I can start a window cleaning business. I’m nervous for my first day because I’ve never cleaned a window before 😂 I’m gonna buy some traditional equipment and practice at my house first then move on to actual customers. Wish me luck guys!
That is now officially the cleanest window in the world
I'm 13 years old in the UK and this video helps so much as I watched this video the day before I washed my first set of windows on some bungalows down the street. Thanks man you helped me earn over 50 pounds in a day. ❤️❤️
Great job 👏
Im abt to do the same!
Same! Bout to start tmmrw
Does anyone know what shop in the UK I can get the supply's from
@@InterviewHub217 Im in the US but i just ordered all my stuff on amazon
I don't care what the trade is- it is always fascinating to see the handwork of someone who has attained master skill level. Very interesting, sir. You are a better person for sharing your knowledge!
I appreciate that!
My dad did a window cleaning side hustle for a long time, so I was lucky enough to have a lot of help from him. Thank you for the extra tips and tricks though, they’re really helpful
It is so wonderful the sharing of information from old or new professionals to apprentices. Experience is the greatest teacher, but having multiple teachers is just as good.
Thank u so much even though it sounds like a basic idea to just “clean the windows” it’s much more in depth than most people think. Perfect tutorial 🤙🤙
Huge help learning about life span of the rubbers. I have been dubbed Zorro for leaving famous streaks using a ancient rubber. Replaced it and with your instructions, can do a good job on my house. Thank You!
Great tips. I own a residential cleaning company and your videos have enabled me to add this to my service. It was incredibly frustrating in the beginning but once you get the rhythm its an awesome feeling of satisfaction to be able to do this properly. Not to sure how to properly price it out but at the end of the day it adds a lot to my bottom line. Thank you for these videos they are extremely well done.
Glad it was helpful!
Comprehensive description !!!
John please could I have your email I am hoping to start a company of a similar nature?🙏
Thanks so much for the info! As a homeowner I had no idea about proper window cleaning techniques!
Hi Steve i've learned a lot in the last half year by watching nearly all of your tips and tricks ,i even started my own windowcleaning business in Belgium since april 2021 all inspired by your movies ,thanks for that and please continue making this nice video's;-)
Hello my friend I am looking to start a similar type of business in Germany. Please could I have your email address?
great vid, i'd love to see this kind of vid with traditional pole work!
Newbie here. Thank you for taking the time to show different techniques of what to do and what not to do. Great video to help get me started. Sincerely appreciate it.
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks you for the thorough walkthrough here. I love the small details and this is helping me feel much more confident
Glad it was helpful!
@@TheKraken2019hey man. I'm just starting out and also bought the ungar pole. Hows it going for you? Do you have any tips or recommendations? Most houses around me have 2 stories so I'll need the pole for sure just not sure how I'll get rid of the streaks that are up high.
You earned a sub on this one! Super thorough and clear, awesome video!
Thank you!
I love washing my windows. Such good info. This is so satifying to watch. Thank you for this video!
You are so welcome!
I am glad I found you, this has answered every question I had. I hope you've been safe and healthy lad.
Same to you!
I’ve been cleaning for 6 years now and I love it. I always use liquid squeegee for my “soap” it works so good. if I have to clean a restaurant I add a little dawn to help with the grease. I love that blue handled squeegee you have I need to look into that. I have a basic swivel handle. Gets the job done but I like the one you’re using too!
I’m new to this, so, what is “liquid squeegee”?
Hi crystal I am hoping to create a company offering similar services please could I have your email address?
One tip I will give if you're doing kitchen windows that have grease on them and it's hot and sunny be sure to degrease them first before you wash them otherwise you're going to get streaks lots of it. I also think there are some glass that's more prone to getting squeegee marks than others I can't exactly explain it but some are more prone
Thank you SteveO! Your videos are so helpful!!
You're very welcome!
Thank you for that video. Sqeegeeing my windows didn’t look that hard until I tried it. Now I’m inspired to try again.
I'm a high rise window cleaner in daytona beach, and I travel across the U.S. as well for work, I love your videos!
Awesome! Thank you!
Great video, love the editing choices. Keep up the good work!
As a seasoned washer, if a newbie would cut a dry line at the top of the window then pull down it will help eliminate streaks
Not all heroes wear capes!! Thanks man you have no idea how much you are helping me i just stared my window cleaning business Thanks man!!
Glad I could help
Super helpful video, thank you for posting. I keep practicing the fan method with both small and large squeegee. No matter what I do I get streaks on the top side of "knocking down the peak". Any tips to avoid? Or perhaps I need different equipment? I got the blue Unger kit from HD.
I don't know how I got here on this video but I sure learned a lot about window washing. Thanks for sharing, great demo.
Mate it must feel good having all these subscribers as apprentices.. I really appreciate you handing on the knowledge...
Thank you
Thanks for sharing ,learning to apply it to my Pressure Washing small business
Great video and pretty good tips. Thanks for your inspiration and advices!
Always learning a new technique and or new technology here thx guy!
Thank you for sharing your knowledge and skills. Excellent verbal instructions to go along with your detailed visual demo/presentation. Good luck on your business and personal success. You have made a more competent and confident man out of me.
You're very welcome!
Great video! Using a squeegee has cut my window cleaning time in half. Wish I would have figured this out sooner in life. Thanks for the tips!
Thank you very much! I am watching your video to clean my cottage. I hire professionals like you to do my home, as there are too many windows to clean. You are great! 😁
Using one clip in the channel works for me. I always struggled with 2 clips when I started so I just use one. It holds the rubber and I don't have to worry about the rubber bunching up.
Excellent teacher! Got me wanting to wash my windows! Looks so easy! Thanks 🙏
You are so welcome!
Window cleaning looks like the simplest thing ever to do when you look at. Pick up the tools and actually give it a try and you will find out quickly it's anything but. Someone who can wield a squeegee on glass especially at a height (on a pole) successfully is past a talent more like an art form. Great tips. BTW the water fed pole I picked up with your help from Window Cleaning Resource works outstanding. Thanks for your guidance.
Please do a video about your tool belt setup. Show what you carry and what type of pockets you have on your belt. I need to know!!!
When I first started learning my boss put me on a window and told me to clean it. I cleaned it went and got him to show him. He comes right up and says it looks like shit do it again. I cleaned the window again this time I think I did better. So I go get my boss and again told me it looked terrible and to do it again. I think I cleaned that one window until they came and got me for lunch. Mind you we start at 6 am and take lunch at noon. Also it might sound weird but my one colleague that I was with had me relax my hand holding the squee and did the motions for me.
I started window cleaning during the summer and it really has a good amount of depth to it especially when it comes to working with a crew and doing all the right things so it works like a well oiled machine

@@jaygettel6598 yea cleaning windows can be difficult if you haven't been doing it the right way my manager is showing me the right way he wants me to clean the windows the right way now these videos are helpful.
Awesome tips and thank you so much for sharing with us newbies.
Great video! Thank you so much for the tips!!
I’ve used the same squeegee rubber for four seasons and owned the squeegee for 12 years and it still works like new.
Trigger innit 🤣😂🤣
Only fools and horses joke 😂
Always love the jewels you drop
I’m a window tinter in Las Vegas and I’m going to apply this fanning technique in my pre-cleaning. Thank you for the video 🙏
Hi Dango I am aspiring to form a company that will offer similar services to that please would you be willing to give me your email address?
Good stuff man, thank you!
Good technique their ill start that way and that my manager showed me im trying my best to get these technique down good thing these videos are helpful I might buy my own equipment so I can practice the right way.
Good information, thanks for making this video!
Try using a water sprite shammy instead of a bath towel. You can use them continuously. When they get dirty rinse it out with a hose sprayer. Works great to mop up water and clean the moldings
Dude thank you so much! I started a new job this week and today I had to wash windows in the office for the higher ups and I never done it before but I watched your video before work and follow your tips and I was getting compliments all day on how good it looked. I think you might have got me a raise lol
Very informative and well done. Thank you!
Than you for the pro tips I really appreciate it this is a big help for me
Hey SteveO, I bought a Super-Channel and the clips are completely different than the brass ones. It has thin, silver clips which I am not used to. I've messed around a bit with the super-channel, but it's much more difficult to use. Sometimes I can get it working great, and it makes short work of huge interior windows, but other times It will leave wavy-streaks and I end up having to re-do the window. Maybe you have a video on super-channels? Or if not, any advice would be helpful. I know that Super-channels are much more difficult to control, but even with the perfect angle ( while doing pole work) It will streak sometimes, and I end up switching to my 18-inch Ledger channel. It would be a lot less work if I could get the super-channel dialed in. (It's a 36-inch Sörbo Quick Silver Clip Style Wide Body T Shaped Aluminum Channel) Thanks EDIT: I found your video on Sorbo squeegee clips, and your dish soap method makes those silver clips a thousand times easier to use. Thank you.
Extremely helpful! I start my first day next week, and my boss let me bring stuff home to practice. I’ve been struggling with the straight pulling 3 times leaving lines so I’m definitely going to try to master that S motion. Looks way more convenient
It makes it more enjoyable and does a better job
You can always tilt your squeegee and that will help w streaks. Tilt toward the dry side. So if you’re coming down from the top tilt down a little bit towards the dry side. It just takes time you’ll get there!
@@crystalokel5507 thanks for the reply lol. Been going for over a month now and I love it. Finally got the snake (S) motion down to almost perfect every time

@@SteveOthewindowcleanerhey I have another question. I don't have enough money to get the basic kit. Can you give me some alternatives.
Thank you so much! You help me here in Brazil!
Can't thank you guys enough...Yall have some good karma coming your way. I started up last month and already about to make my bills on my first month. I'm stoked!
Learning so much off of these videos I've acquired a lot of sorbos will the channel on the sorbo fit on the Moerman Excelerator 2.0 Squeegee Handle ?
You're a great teacher!
Thank you! 😃
Dude, my new rubber kept gripping on to the window, tried your method of breaking it in, saved my damn life. Thank you brotha!! 🙏🏼
You're welcome, it can throw you off at first lol
i always load new rubber with the logo facing down, i like to always know at a glance if i am on the first or second side. so when i turn the squeegee toward me if i see the logo i know i still the second side available. also i rarely use the ettore channels in my moerman but occassionally so i ground out 3 scoops where the teeth go so the handle grips the rubber and i don't need the end clips
I do something similar, only logo side up.
Yooo! Thanks, really helpful
Awesome video brother. Appreciate the trade secrets
Im about to buy my supplies. Thank you for these videos.
You are so welcome!
hey man, thank you for the tips! What do you think about silicone squeegees?
Good Morning Steve< Own a WC company in Maine. Looking for new ideas and came across your video. Nicely done looking forward to watching your series. JIM
Hi Steve-O Thanks for making this video. What should I use to clean the dirt/dust off the wooden trim around the windows?
A wet microfiber is perfect like this one windowcleaner.com/products/xero-microfiber-towel?sca_ref=3020242.k17l3JaEgS
Great lesson! Can your recommend a brand or model of 18” squeegee for us homeowners with multiple big 10’x20’ walls of glass? What model/brand is your 40-degree one?
Thanks for the tips!
Big fat thumbs up and you got a subscriber! this was a super detailed to the point tons of pro tips video. I am on a job installing glass walls at a new building under construction. Each piece of glass is roughly 4'.5" x 10' and there's about 80 of them. My technique of cleaning them today will be different than what I have been doing after watching your video. Thank you. I suppose my only question would be how much soap am I putting in the bucket? Let's say I have 2 gallons of water, how much soap will I be adding?
Any tips for interior residential window cleaning; avoiding making a mess with drips on floor and window sills?? Love the channel and info!!
Yes, using a painting drop cloth or large bath towel to put down in front of the window can definitely help
my boss has these like no angle sorbos and there kinda hard to place it on the window right ever time might buy one of those he has
awesome, now i know how to fix the windows i may as well have cleaned with a wet sock yesterday
I do my single house windows about 4 times per year. To extend squeegee rubber lifespan to about 5 years, only straight down or sideways glide is used on the windows. A 24 inch Sorbo squeegee is used for the large windows, while a 14 inch Sorbo is used for the smaller windows. For a large window, the 24" is used first, followed by the 14" for the remaining small area. I like the fly screen removal tool tip. Fortunately my 5-year old house fly screens can be easily removed by hand.
My fave average angle 25°.a suggestions: go back to the starting point to catch any pull smears, less detailing needed.
My first job is this week and I'm extremely nervous lol I have the first customer jitters to the max!
I also find a lot of guys that don’t use enough soap if you have a 5 gallon bucket of water Squeeze soap bottle for about 6 sec using little soap makes the squeegee drag and noisy leaving lines and swirls. A properly soaped and soaked window should make very little squeaks.
Awesome! Thank you. I am still a newbie homeowner at this. My windows are really dirty by the time I get around to doing this. How often do I need to dump the bucket of solution and mix a new batch?
No need to change it when just doing your home
Hey Steve, I’m new in your Channel, I live in Canada, do you have a video in low temperatures? I started doing cleaning windows to save up to pay college. Bless
im in calgary, now hiring, i will teach you....
Very good and informative video, Steve-O.
Put a couple squirts of soap directly on the applicator, just seems better than in the water for me. Have a bucket on a belt, half litre bottle of water with you and you can leave your main bucket in the van out of the way. I just usually go back to the van every hour or so for dry microfibres and top up from main bucket. If i have busy day or dirty work i bring a couple of 5 litre tubs clean water so can change main bucket if needed. Add a touch rinse aid in the water for a nice sparkle 😉 😅
I have my first window cleaning job this Saturday! Just started my company and very nervous! This video definitely puts me at ease a little bit
Just started as well and got my first client for Tuesday! Nervous ash
How’s is it after 3 months now guys?
Any tips for the first day?
@russtruu668 Hi mate I'm currently in the planning stage of making a company similar in terms of window cleaning. Please could I have your email address?
Thank you for this!
i think Ive done a good job only to find streaks after the window has dried .How can I correct this Thanks
Helped a lot! From belguim 🤘
Blew me away with this vid. I had no idea one can be so serious and professional about squeegeeing! Nice!
Hey Stevo I noticed sometimes when I detail the sides of the window later I can see I leave lines from the towel and I only use one finger. Any suggestions thanks!
Great video Really Helpful!! Thank You
You're welcome
Nice work and thanks for the tips ….. as a home owner, is the best solution a few drops of dawn in 3g of water, or is there something else or trick with the cleaner? My house is in the woods and the windows get dirty fast. Also, what about your screens?
do you need to try and keep the handle parallel to the window bc sometimes i go over something and there’s still soapy water on it
Thank you so much! Can you help me on inside? Do i do it the same way? Where can i get the mop attachment? You rock 👍👍👍 Oh adding I am 77 and going for it… inside I heat with wood in winter what should I use for solution? 😊😊
How do you keep your squeegee from hopping onto the lip of the window!?
I never knew that the rubber could be used on both sides, thanks Steven
@SteveOthewindowcleaner How do you clean second floor windows and frames efficiently without using a ladder? Especially if they have mullions you can't remove
Hi. Is there any difference for tinted windows? Thanks
Great video helps me massively great informational video my favourite channel 🙌🙌🙌
Thank you. Very informational. What about tall slider glass windows that you can only reach the top on a ladder? You have to dismount the ladder at some point to reach the bottom. How do you do just one stroke?
You can just do it in 2 sections
What @SteveO The Window Cleaner Said 👍
Cheers mate superb video ❤
So i am a custodian and i clean a lot of windows. I didn't know that the rubber on the squgee wears that fast. So my questions are. About how many windows would you say i would need to clean before i would need to flip the rubber on the squgee. And Are there any other signs that you can share that point to a squgee rubber that is wearing out. I ask because i am starting to get a lot of streaks on the down stroke technique and i wasn't before, so i belive i have a worn out squgee blade but would like to hear your thoughs. THANKS
Great video brother
Thank you for the content! I am starting a window washing business of my own and am trying to figure out the best poles to use with our ettore squeegees. I have the same ettore brass backflip squeegee that you are using in this video. Do you have a suggestion for best poles to go with?
I suggest you ditch the poles and use an extension ladder. When you use a pole you leave streaks and have to waste time cleaning the glass. If your customers don’t care the by all means use the poles I guess I should ask are you working for someone else or do you sell your own jobs. If you work for someone else then use a pole because your boss doesn’t pay you enough. If you are the boss then don’t use poles if you can avoid it.
@@doctorspockARTS The doctors advice is priceless. Poles blow.
Garelick poles are good poles and are descent for the price . Carbon fiber are great but expensive too. If you practice a lot, poles are best on commercial jobs, where you cant get a ladder in . Water-fed poles are king on big 1-4 story jobs where repetitive window cleaning is necessary. I would urge on Houses/residential work not using poles. Use Ladders, or a sectional (Metallic) ladder on a house . Sectionals allow you to get weird places in houses (skylights, stairwells, peaked sets, and over furniture)... Happy hunting and good luck 👍
Do you recommend the shaving cream hack at the end to keep the window from fogging up?
