    • People used to be able to work as janitors and receive a living wage. Besides that, people used to work at the same job for longer. High turnover and low wages created a work environment in which workers don’t care about doing a good job.

  • it's nice to see someone who takes pride in their work. Too often 'simple' jobs like this are kinda tossed to the side, but not everyone has to be some famous docter, brave fireman, or popular youtuber. There's no shame in having a 'simple' job, these things need to be done

    @jakolken7131@jakolken7131 Жыл бұрын
    • I know this comment is kind of old now; but agreed. There should be no shame in doing a simple job professionally. All the people ragging on this guy for taking it "too seriously" probably never cleaned a window in their life, and if they had, they probably didn't listen to any feedback from their clients on how bad of a job they actually did. We need more people who are master's in their field of expertise in the US cause sadly, I've seen so many people say they have 20 years experience doing something, and really all they have experience with is to slack off and complain about the job. People who are willing to do their job well are scarce these days. And I respect them immensely.

      @thesnackbandit@thesnackbandit11 ай бұрын
    • @@thesnackbanditThat is an EXCELLENT question my friend and I am truly glad you asked. There is wisdom in seeking out answers to questions like that and being willing to ask them and I admire you for it. The reason this is something to aspire to is because this young man can become a millionaire washing windows. Mike Rowe interviewed a man who owned a company that cleans and suctions people’s septic tanks. The man was a multimillionaire and Mike Rowe asked him how he started. He started working for a large plumbing company, and he decided since he had to make $60k cleaning toilets and septic tanks, he’d try to be the best he could at it. And he was. And his company noticed and he got promoted faster than his peers. Then he built enough report among his peers and clients that when he left the company to start his own company, he already had a willing customer base and talented people who wanted to join him. He said that he very quickly found, the more success he had, the more passionate he became “about other people’s crap.” The customers for the company will request this young man if other employees don’t do as good a job as he does. And if the leaves the company to start his own window washing business, the customers will hire him rather than his former employer. And there’s a great deal to be made in being a successful small business owner. You can be a millionaire off a company that washes windows for a living.

It's one of the first things the owners would notice if it were not done properly. As much as people trivialize manual labor like cleaning and view it as brainless work. It takes a lot of strategy and thinking to actually do it right and do it fast.
