This week at the the chateau, we take a look at some of the work on the third floor. Terry and Rob picked a beautiful mirror up from emmaus but unfortunately it had been painted in a nasty gold, so Rob took on the job of removing layers of paint back to its original beauty ready for the third floor.
Terry and Graham look at fitting a door to the third floor in the tower, but find it will need a little work to make fit.

About us,
We are a family from the North-East of England following our dream to restore a beautiful abandoned french Château. We discovered the heart stopping Château De Lalacelle in summer of 2020, this beautiful architectural monument Is set in the countryside of North-West France.
The moment we visited the Château we all fell in love, from the beautiful sweeping landscape and forests, to its stunning untouched interiors and magnificent spiral staircase in the turret.
Unfortunately Château De Lalacelle has been abandoned for a number of decades so will need a lot of restoration and DIY.

Rob is a treasure, I’m sure you will miss him when he goes home. I’m impressed by the quality of the workmanship of the mirrors and the door, they will make a difference to the finished rooms. It’s all in the detail, impressive, well done.
Your volunteer did superb job on stripping that mirror and especially on the detail. That must have taken forever.
Rob has squeezed right into the family lovely that he has restored something and that he can always watch the videos and be proud that he helped you bring her (the chateau) back to life...
This is one programme that never disappoints love to see the progress you all make, at the rate you are going it will be all finished in a couple of years.

Safety glasses while sanding. I got something in my eye that cut it and now when i am older it is causing a problem so safety glasses please!

Terry you might want to install some door stops so the clothes knobs don’t hit the glass. Same for the cottage washroom door.
The mirror in the salon is gorgeous and fits perfectly there. I like when you said when Rob returns the mirror would be painted, he then said, Say What? Cute

What a treasure the mirror turned out to be! Also starting to get excited about how the turret paneling is going to turn out.When I began to watch way back when the place was rather a mess, the thing that made me go "oh WOW" and realize how magnificent the place once was was a shot of the staircase and all of the paneling. Hope I will be able to spend a week in one of the second floor suites one day.

Should have worn a filter mask as the old paints were lead based, even though your outside.

Next time you want to scrape paint from wood: an old small piece of glas helps also very good.Just scrape with it.
