About us,
We are a family from the North-East of England following our dream to restore a beautiful abandoned french Château. We discovered the heart stopping Château De Lalacelle in summer of 2020, this beautiful architectural monument Is set in the countryside of North-West France.
The moment we visited the Château we all fell in love, from the beautiful sweeping landscape and forests, to its stunning untouched interiors and magnificent spiral staircase in the turret.
Unfortunately Château De Lalacelle has been abandoned for a number of decades so will need a lot of restoration and DIY.
Please subscribe and follow our families journey, with the up’s and down’s in moving from the UK to rural France and restoring this beautiful building to its former glory.

Omg!! Rob your back!!! Nice to see everyone working so hard. Work on the windows look great! Can’t wait to see you all on Wednesday.
You really work miracles with those windows, Terry. And I need to say that I miss Rob.
Terry, that’s a beautiful kitty! Cheers to you, Ash, Mum, and family! Thomas!
The amount of energy you and your family have, is amazing! It is humbling to see you restore such a beautiful place, after 40 years of neglect. Clearing the land alone seemed seemed overwhelming.. yet here you are with so much progress! Just awe struck at the passion you all share!
Thanks Mara! We all love the old girl! Just being here gives us energy!
The first time I saw you save one of those windows that was badly rotted I was amazed. Like many people I would have probably just replaced it, but now I know I can save money and preserve an original feature thanks to you. Kudo's, Terry!
This is truly hard labour and yet preserving the charachter. A true labour of love, thank you!!!
Oooooo! That gift box from America! I saw a beautiful antique flower press in there. I have a similar one that was made (circa 1880) by the father of the Canadian minister who married my parents. It still works beautifully, and I and my little 10 year old neighbour pick flowers each summer to dry and frame. What a joy!!! Maybe Jonathan can use it to dry some of the flowers from his garden "allotment".
Terry, your woodworking skills are exemplary. Not only are you refinishing salvageable wood, but you are able to replicate old woodwork with very basic tools. That is incredible!
I love Inara's t-shirt as it says that she is a "University of Waterloo Mom" and I live about 20 minutes from Waterloo, in Cambridge....she is doing a wonderful job on the windows. Terry, the chateau is going to be so much warmer this winter with all of the repaired and sealed windows....all very exciting and happy for all of you all!
The Old Grande Dame is coming back to life!
OMG Terry, what painstaking work. You really don't accept defeat without a fight. I love that about you. Hey, wait a minute, I thought Rob was gone a few weeks ago.
Terry is genius! Beautiful woodwork 👏
We're all watching Terry and I realized that you're an artisan. Was great seeing Rob in there too. Hope he's doing well!
Nice to see others working away there getting these little jobs done. Like everyone said Terry Your so skillful with wood awesome to watch 😮😮😮
Wow Terry what a fantastic job you have done on that panel. Looking really good. You have fantastic patience to copy everything you repair. Love watching you.
Loved the door restoration. Thought it looked like the peacocks wanted to investigate 😊
It's funny. Intellectually, I understand how the wood damage happened, but seeing it is different. I'm glad to see all the reclamation efforts and how successful you are in many cases.
Terry you’re a miracle worker!
He really is!
Terry, your patience, resourcefulness, and attention to detail are second to none! I was amazed at how you were able to use old floor boards to patch the paneling on the ceiling and above the window in the tower. I'm continually amazed at what you are able to salvage when most would just think it beyond repair. Wonderfully done! 👏👏👏👏👏
I’m truly in awe of you guys. You make it seems as though you’re professional restorers. Wow, fantastic job
Beautiful cat.
Terry you have untold patience and so very detail oriented. Beautiful work.
Wow Terry you did it again. When you showed the panel I thought it was fit for the bin . But yet again you did your magic 🥰👏
I’m impressed, I would have just fixed or bought another router. No way would I have taken to time to hand chisel those boards👏🏼👏🏼nice job and a lesson in ingenuity. Keep up the good work.
OMG, Terry you are not the window king, but your woodworking skills have improved tremendously, I didn't catch Waterloo Mom's name, (I apologize) but she also did an amazing job as well. Well now we wait until Wednesday to see the cottage, until then family have a good night. Love from N.Y.
My dear Tracy, you have made miracles happen since the moment you arrived. Great job and alot of patience Terry!
Hi guys it doesn’t matter that you coincide with Dan, your both brilliant and it doesn’t matter what time your seen, your videos are all so good and you have many faithful subscribers, such as myself, I’m lucky that I have you both to watch much love xxxxxxxxxxxxx😘❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Thank you so much 🥰
Wow Terry Amazing Job You Done On The Windows It Has Save You A Lot Of Money Love The Cat 💕🏰
A new friend to work on the million windows..yay..good for her for getting stuck in there..🤗
Terry, your skills and ingenuity have saved you a bucketful of cash! The restoration work is spot-on! My hat is off to you. You are a true craftsman.
A good job on the panel is an understatement! You are a master craftsman. ❤️
One of the most beautiful cats!
I love your chats at the end; so soothing and fun. What a team.
Terry, you are a natural born leader, too be able to bring everyone on board, of jobs need to get done. On top of that, you have become quite the craftsman; taking the time to repair items, like windows, with patience and care. The windows look fantastic because you taught yourself how to repair them. Looking at the windows now, they blend in, not even given a hint, they were once damaged. You're innate kindness, patience, and love of family, and care towards the volunteers, the progress of the Chateau has grown quickly, in such a short time. Terry and family, WELL DONE!!!
Terry you are really mastering your skills, so impressed 👍
Thanks Diana!
Thank you so much 😊
Thank you so much to you all. It has taken me a while but I have finally caught up to where you are up to now. 2 years and such amazing progress. You are all amazing. It’s now time for me to get in and do my own jobs which are nowhere near the level of work that yours are. I am looking forward to keeping up to date with your progress.❤️🤗 from Oz
I must say this every time I comment but I’ll say it again, you are all amazingly hard working, humble and happy people. Love all that you do and how beautiful the tower looks. Terry you are a master of window restoration and without a router you were able to replicate the boards! Truly inspiring. xx
It may seem like small little projects but progress is made and makes that tower come alive again!
We have 37 windows in our 97 year old house. I still haven't finished repairing and glazing all the windows. Been working on them for 2 years now. Working 1 room at a time.
The turret is starting to look wonderful again! Every little fix makes a big difference!
I've watching as you all have worked so hard restoring the chateau. I grew up in a contracting family and we children always had work to do and were fortunate in being able to learn a bit from skilled craftsmen skills that fewer and fewer people have. It's good to see the ingenuity and commitment you have employed, the resourcefulness too. Preserving history and bringing renewed life to the property is important to community. Wishing you all the best.
It is such a work of art you're doing. Restoring all the windows, so amazing to see
Your ingenuity and skill at working through each problem that arises is so fantastic. No router, No problem, I'll just do it old school! The windows are turning out very nice. Hopefully you'll get everything done before the cold sets in. Good job and thanks for sharing.
My goodness, amazing how this brings it back to life!!! So beautiful! Great job!
Thanks Jean :)
That cat is gorgeous 😍 ❤️
That’s our little princess Pandora! She’s beautiful! Not just looking, but she’s so loving!
I'm amazed by Terry making his own tongue and groove by hand. Incredible.
Terry your the King🤴 of Chateau window restoration for sure. Glad your passing on those skills. You’re teaching that lovely lady well. Oh and the panel looks awesome too.
You should make a tower party when your are done with it from the inside.
Jonathan looks so like you in this video Terry
The transformations always amaze me - well done!
Sadly, it is in very bad shape. So glad you all are going to restore it. I’m sure it will be beautiful when you are finished. Can’t wait to see how it turns out.
Thank you very much 🥰
You do such a fantastic job every time are going to repair the shutters and the canapés over the doors
I just love this channel. You guys are awesome. Terry passing on his knowledge to Inara and seeing her do a wonderful job is so rewarding. Terry you did awesome on the panel. Oh, and yes, I definitely would be delighted to see the cat ring the doorbell to it's very own chateau! I laughed so hard when you said this. Tracy was that a throw blanket? Wish you would've held it up. It looked lovely and cozy. See you all Wednesday. I am curious now to see the miracle. Much love to you all.
All I can say wow .looking forward to the next video.
12:26 turned out great 😃👍
I’ve said this before but I love how you restore old bits instead of running out to buy new if possible. I have learned so much about the products you use. I saw at the beginning your capable helper Pandora! 😁🐈 She is a gorgeous girl!!! Well done!!! 😊❤️❤️❤️🎶🎶🎶👏👏👏🇨🇦🇫🇷
OMG Terry watching you bring the old window frame & window panel back to life, takes patience & skill! thank goodness for Ronseal Wood-filler 🙏 your a good advert for the product! Take care lots of love 🥰💕
Must compliment Inara for tackling that difficult job. She did a marvelous job under the watchful instruction of Terry. It will help to get the tedious and time consuming window restoration work done much faster having an extra pair of hands to help.
Terry you’re a bloomin miracle worker.
Truly amazing to see transformation of the chateaux watching you take window which has so much rotten wood and bringing the window back to a very functional piece is great. I'm learning so much from watching your blog. Thanks!!!
Another week of hard work. It shows. It’s looking so different . Whatever will you do when it’s finished? 😂 vacation perhaps?
Wow Terry, you can apply yourself to pretty much everything.....working with the wood and making it look like you actually used a router...that takes patience and skill! You all are such hard workers and it's a pleasure to watch what you accomplish every week!
I’m waiting for the time when you finish that little tiny window in the tower.
Terre the "Window Wizard"
The timber work in the chateau is amazing Terry. 👏👏👏👏😊
It’s amazing what you do with an old piece of wood Terry. Brilliant work
You definitely are the right people to tackle this restoration. Amazed at your work on windows that I would have thought were destined for firewood
Wow you are good Terry so talented great job done ❤🍷🍷❤🇨🇦
Amazing restoration of another tower window and replacing the damaged wood. Looks beautiful
You did a great job on the windows and surrounding wood, you all have many talents that help one another. The Chatau is looking so different and its still a work in progress. So glad to see you are getting helpers in now and then. Keep up the good work. 💕🇦🇺
Piece by piece, window by window you are bringing new life back into your home. Excellent work!
It will be so pretty when you put shutters on the windows.
Terry your work ethic, and attention to detail are truly admirable. You’re all doing an incredible job, and it’s a delight to see your progress each vlog. Thanks for the great content.
Terry you're a magician 👍🥰
Wow Terry and Rob you have done a great job on those windows 🪟 really love Sundays look forward to your vlogs keep safe all the best to everyone 👍 xx
Thank you Gloria! Rob really was a blessing! Terry always does amazing!
Thank you 😊
Just one window at a time and before you know it you only have 50 more left to do Terry!. You have the knack for doing them for sure and now you are teaching the trade to others! Amazing work all the way around. Who needs a router anyway! It is such fun to watch each episode. Winter will soon be here!
What a beautiful cat!!!
I’m fascinated by your window repair. I’m afraid I would have thrown them away. Wonderful job
I think I’ve said this before but it’s very therapeutic watching windows and panelling being restored. Good job young man. Can’t wait for the 3rd floor reveal 🥰
When u put that much energy into a window and paneling it shows how much u love that chateau!!!
GREAT JOB ON THE RESTORATION OF THE WINDOW SURROUND PANEL! LOOKS LIKE IT'S BEEN THERE SINCE THE CHATEAU WAS BUILT.
Once again I’m stunned at how you turn a rotten piece of paneling into a thing of beauty! Granted, a great deal of elbow grease went into the massive effort, scrap wood was found to replace one crumbling strip, then stain, wax and polish ++++ Your imagination Terry knows no bounds and saves the day, even with a broken router! Lovely to see Rob again! Take care, please wear goggles when using the electric equipment, we all love you and don’t want any of you hurt xxx Alexandra in Florida 💕🐥💕
Love your little family chat at the end with the dogs hanging out with you. Gives me a chuckle. Your place is looking so good with all of your hard work.
Great job restoring the windows and woodworking. It looks beautiful. Matches perfectly. Enjoyed. Blessings to you all.

Hahaha!!!! Hello Calgary mom. I was justctelling my husband that it was so nice my University Of Waterloo T-shirt was shown 😀🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦
I think 3-4 weeks. It seems the big jobs are all complete. Its just the finishing touches really, but admittedly lots of them!! But with a couple of extra helpers you'll be surprised how mucn work you'll get through. Very ambitious to try a daily vlog but I'm really looking forward to them. "Crack on" or as we say in NZ- give it heaps.
your are doing a great job and I am enjoying following you but I would enjoy an eposode devoter to a floor plan of each floor thank you
I am so impresssed with your renovatons. I have renovated a couple of old houses but nothing on this scale. Well done.

You know from my past comments that I really enjoy your post and seeing the amazing progress you have made. I'm just wondering why you did not introduce the Waterloo Mom, it seemed awkward. Love your family, missed seeing Jonathan.
I am amazed at what you do with those window frames...things I never thought were possible. Love your channel.
