It's obvious they see Link as a male character and not as a template that anyone can be so I understand why they want him to stay male, but Linkle would have been nice :(
Then Zelda would have to be a man... haha. Actually, wait! That would be funny. If Zelda is the man and Link the woman. But then who would save who? And with that, would Ganondorf be a woman too? If Ganon was a woman, then the Gerudo ladies would have to become the Gerudo gentlemen. Oh God!
They should make Link a transmale for one game and then have him transition to his rightful (male) body just in time for the final battle so people will take the hint that he is the reincarnation of one particular male hero from the birth of Hyrule, since apparently showing the adventure of that hero in Skyward Sword wasn't enough for people to take the hint.

Officially, TP Link can take the form of a Sacred Wolf. Theoretically, it doesn't "need" to be TP Link. You could always just think of it as summoning a Sacred Wolf. Although, if I recall correctly, the exact term used was Sacred Beast. Actually, you may want to check zeldapedia, because I never actually played TP. I only watched a walkthrough for the GC version. Since I couldn't afford a GC, I tried saving up for one to get TP, but then Skyward sword came out. So I ended up getting a Wii with SS and Brawl. I think I'll get TPHD and play through it now that I have finally finished WWHD to 100% completion.

They really need to add more companions for Link, Wolflink is great and I think the adventure would feel way better if you're not strictly alone. I don't see how they could expand the idea to other amiibos but more ingame animal companions would be great.
I seriously doubt they'd put in the amount of effort required to program an entire companion AI just to use it only once for an Amiibo extra.

Am I the only one glad that Nintendo opted for this kind of graphics? Thankfully they decided not to turn this into a "just another realistic-looking game". Games these days use realistic graphics, they no longer look impressive.
Im also glad that they are using this art style. So many games use realistic graphics which is fine but these immerse you in a fantasy world. I tired of realistic and gritty grayscale graphics that this seems so lively and fresh.
Most Zelda fans are ofcourse happy for that graphic style, it wouldn't feel like Zelda if it was too realistic. I don't think that the problem with other "realistic" games is that there are too many, but the gameplay is usually bad in manyo of them. THey focus too much on the graphics. 1. Good graphics will make you buy the game. 2. Good gameplay will make you play it. (Zelda is here)

It isn't that they no longer look impressive. Games today just look relatively the same.
What I like about Zelda games is that each game usually has a different art style unless it's a direct sequel. Twilight Princess went for the realistic graphics, so they used a different style for this one, which reminds me of anime.
I've been putting off getting an amiibo due to lack of interest for so long, but now this. Touche Nintendo.
I like at the end how the gameplay footage is cuts away, and you hear battle sounds in the background. I can only imagine what horrors Chico(or whatever her name is) is putting those poor bokoblins through.
It would be great they put something like: "WARNING! Scenes may contain Graphic violence and gore. Viewer discretion is advised"

It's actually become much easier to buy them this last year. I always see the ones I want in stores.

None of them are discontinued. Nintendo has gone on the record saying this more than once. They have different production cycles since all of them can't be in stock at the same time all the time.
If they would make too many amiibo and nobody would buy them, they would be in serious trouble. And none of them are discontinued; it's just that many of them aren't shipped until they have a big enough stock so that they won't pay over and over for shipping.

This is a really awesome feature with this amiibo. I must have it. My only concern is that I'll be getting a Wolf Link amiibo with only 3 hearts to start off. It doesn't look like you'll be able bring the hearts up in any way other than in Twilight Princess HD. Unfortunately for me, I don't have that game(I did for gamecube), and neither do I have a Wii U gamepad(was stolen). :l

Living in a crappy apartment with crappy neighbors. Anyways, I've long since gotten a new gamepad and Twilight Princess HD raising my Wolf Link up to 20 hearts. So.. yay. 2-3 days left until this baby comes out!
If they're already doing pets with Wolf Link I can imagine the Guardian amiibo giving Link his own personal Mini-Guardian (from the shrines) as a pet as well. I think it will be either that or a daily stock of energy arrows similar to the TP amiibos. But Archer Link could do that as well so I'm not sure.

he comes with the hearts you have from Twilight Princess meaning a maybe 15+ heart wolf link if you beat the game. Even the way he acts right now would probably ruins the fun from roaming around so he kinda needs to be a little dumb.

well the bundle's on-sale at bestbuy for $40 right now... either way, it's just an extra quirk for those who already had it. i don't see it as a cash grab at all but to each their own...

No. You can in Twilight Princess, but it would be very cheap and lazy of Nintendo to add wolf link as a playable character rather than a combat pet.
The only difference between making Wolf Link playable rather than a companion seen in the programming would be that rather than being AI-based, he'd be input-based. It's hardly "cheap and lazy" as both take similar effort.

Katlin Ginner We don't know the plot/lore of this game. For all we know, this could be the same Link as seen in Twilight Princess, and boom it suddenly makes sense. Rehashing ideas is what makes a "staple" of a series. When you think of Link, you think of a green-tunic sword-and-shield badass, as that's how he is in every single game. It's rehashing concepts that makes a series a series. That being said, Wolf Link's cameo is due to an external object, and as such, is not canon. I'm merely stating that it could easily have been made canon, if they had Link transform rather than have Wolf Link as a companion.

Steak isn't subject to only one meat. Just like you can have lamb chops, pork chops, beef chops etc., you can also have veef steak, pork steak etc.

A couple things: I hope the wolf link ai gets better before release, but I also hope he doesn't make the game too easy. I also hope there are more difficult overworld enemies. However, I like the idea of wolf Link as a companion. It's like an old (or maybe future) Link is here to help another Link. It's like the hero I beat an old game with is here to help my new hero out. it's touching.
A Midna amiibo should be combinable with wolf link, maybe to power him up idk, give him attack combos like seen with Midna in hyrule Warriors

I personally would have preferred the horse standing in a way that it doesn't need the silly looking support under it :/ I don't get why they love to pose the amiibos in such unstable ways that they need the supports, or at least make it apart of the pose like a cloud of dust or something, not just a weird clear I-beam..

Never liked the whole amiibo thing of how you have to buy them to unlock certain stuff (I thought it was reaaaal cheap from you Nintendo) but dang this is a life changer. Totally getting an amiibo just for this game and gimmick.
I can kind of understand amiibo to a point. Sure you have to buy them to get certain content, but this would be content that there wouldn't be otherwise so it's kind of like buying DLC that has the possibility to work with multiple games. The fact that they are figures makes another great point. I'm guessing people wouldn't complain if Nintendo sold normal figures as collectibles or toys, so Amiibos are kind of figures that serve more of a purpose than just being collectibles and sitting on a shelf. I personally don't feel the need to buy Amiibos like some people do, but I can still understand why they are so popular. That said, I am considering buying one of the BotW Amiibos, probably depending on their functionality whenever they are revealed.
well that's the stupid thing. we've been wanting more toys forever, but these are tiny, expensive, unarticulated figures that contain a gimmick that you should rightfully just have in the game in the first place.
Kairu Hakubi I also get that point of view, which is why I dont like them. They're not really figures theyre more like collectibles imo. Id totally be stoked if they were articulated like the upcoming Guardian amiibo. Might get that one along with wolf link cuz u can move its extensions! And you can pose it and stuff but the others are just... trophies?
Yeah, the content is in the game already, but to actually get the full use out of it you have to pay extra for it. They're just getting every chance they can to make that extra dollar. It's total crap companies can make a game now, just wait a month or two and then release an update they had from the beginning probably but still charge you for it.
I would buy Amiibos even if they didn't do anything because they are just neat on their own, the fact that they do stuff in game is just a nice little bonus. You are looking at it the wrong way.

As cool as that sounds, it might not be possible if Link is to be his established name for this game(as shown by the female's voice in an earlier video) Now, if many names are recorded to be used for the protagonist(instead of Link), it might help further the idea of Link being the player. However, this is a demo for now, so we'll have to wait and see what the future holds

There was some background music in the demos. It was probably muted for the sake of this presentation.
The music probably hasn't been finished yet do to the fact that they normally are large orchestrated pieces, so I say wait until the game releases to see
If I can recall correctly, they actually said that there will be some music, but there will not be many of the different music that we're use to, because it was too difficult to make it stick to different areas. Something to do with the size of the place and not knowing which new area the character passes into; I can't quite recall. (Look for the interviews with the creator; it came from his mouth. T.T) I do, however, recall an acute sense of heartbreak. I seriously hope that they can find a way to do it, because it felt strange to see Link running in the fields without having an over-world theme. And not a single chest opening song (but I did stop watching E3 after four hours, so I may have missed it.) :\

Yes and no. For smaller areas yes. But imagine traversing the same region for an hour and having the same music on loop the entire time. For those areas they are probably relying on ambiance. Natural sounds, like wind, and birds etc.

Not all females have noticeable ones, and some (especially if they were in a time like Link's) would bind them to hold them as close to their chests as possible to prevent them from getting in the way. But I get the sense that you're referring to Link's shirtless moments in this game, which would break the logic that this Link is female. However, the creators of the franchise themselves say "While Link is canonically male in our eyes, we purposely leave Link ambiguous. This is so the player can assign whatever gender to Link they want to feel more of a connection." (Paraphrased). They said they've been doing this from the start. So, in a way, anyone who gender assigns Link (in any of the Zelda games) any gender at all is right. As a male, I see him as male. As agender, my sibling sees them as agender. We're both right in our own Zelda file universes. (Sorry for the text wall! :c)

the e3 demo is 16gb in size so the full game will be larger than that get the physical copy
Probably not. I have the 32 GB model and I already ran out of storage space completely. Which is when I decided to hook up a 250 GB external hard disk I had lying around gathering dust. If you're going to download games (especially full games that can be bought on disk as well), you should really get an external storage device of some kind.

Dude, buy a thumb drive and plug it into the back of your Wii U. You can install games to it, they are pretty cheap and come with pretty decent amounts of storage.

Twilight Princess takes place after Majora's mask, but this takes place after Windwaker. So it's either just a regular wolf companion that is simply a reference to TP link, or it's more like Twilight Princess Link came from the alternate timeline to help.
I don't think this has been confirmed to take place after Wind Waker. True, the Koroks are in this game, but there are also elements from Twilight Princess as well. So, it hasn't been confirmed of where in the timeline this game will take place.
+AwesomeGirl86 They said its TP Link, he even has the chain attached to him, so it's probably Link being transported to this timeline. After all we know it's possible. Also at first I thought this was after windwaker as well but the fact that there's Bokoblins maybe its after Skyward? But my theory is that this is at the very end of the timeline, possibly tying all 3 together because of all of the references and all the technology.
Juichibey (Rabbit) I know Wolf Link is TP Link. I've played TP and enjoyed it. :) There's definitely a combination of Skyward Sword, Twilight Princess, Ocarina of Time, and Wind Waker elements to this game. We won't know for sure until Nintendo reveals more info later on. As for tying all 3 timelines, I don't see how that will work. The timeline is already confusing.
AwesomeGirl86 Well of course there would be Skyward Sword, that one is most obviously set before it. It's possible this could be the world being reclaimed between SS and OoT, but I doubt it'd be SS link. However, my money is still on it being set after windwaker. Not only by merit of the korok's, but that the deku tree's new purpose would be expanding to fill in the land one day bringing the lands and people together again. The elements you're noting from Twilight Princess are related to the sheikah, unless you have something else that I'm unaware of in mind, it seems to me that anything remotely referencing twilight princess only looks that way and is in fact directly related to the sheikah. We'll see where they place it though, I guess.
Yeah, that amiibo gimmick... typical Nintendo BS. Edit: Nothing against having Wolf Link in the game... but making it dependent on another game... ugh...
Personally, I think this kind of thing is what keeps Nintendo firmly in third place in the console wars... it's like they STILL think the gaming industry is only for kids.
