Ronnie O'Sullivan's Immortal Game vs Kyren Wilson | 2018 Champion of Champions - Final (re-edited)

2020 ж. 8 Жел.
2 790 146 Рет қаралды

This would be one of O'Sullivan's immortal games in chess terms as it was one of the most memorable and exciting finals. Great performance, turnarounds, enormous pressure, and dramatic moments in the final frames are present in this match. In addition, two of the best commentators and an excellent audience make this match even more vibrant.
The frames featured here are also featured in the "Ronnie O'Sullivan | Counter Attacks at the 2018 Champion of Champions" video. Image and audio quality has been improved, as well as editing work. This version includes an introductory quote, statistics, supplemental information, and additional shots.
The old version is still available (it also includes two frame endings played in previous rounds).
The statistics shown in the video correspond to the date of the match.
Cesar Muroya created a unique editing technique to extract the essence of the game without losing the drama involved. Contextual information is also an innovation appreciated by viewers.
This format is not intended to substitute the full version but rather to make snooker more accessible to new fans. The fluency and atmosphere of the game stay in a shorter length video, allowing even experienced fans to enjoy snooker at any time.

    • Quite new to snooker, but why is the safety "negative"? Seems at least a reasonably good shot which was just outshined by the opponent's incredible reply. Or does negative mean something specific in this context? Again, newbie here and am aware I have little experience to disagree, just wanting to learn more.

  • Just re-read the blurb on this vid: "Two of the best commentators.." - I fully agree! Clive Everton was 82 when this was broadcast - was always my favourite on BBC over the years, shame that the BBC saw fit to let him go, true to UK TV politics tho ITV picked him up. No sensationalism from him, no punchlines, always addressed players by their surname (which came across as him being fair to all players, which he was), read the game well, made plenty of psychological interjections in his commentary that made it more real for us viewers. And yeah, Hendry is a class act to whatever he turns his hand to...

    @EannaButler@EannaButler3 жыл бұрын
    • Well stated. But, let's face it, the guy was 82 years old. He's not that many years left, sadly. We tend to forget these are people with lives and families of their own. Did the BBC let him go, or did he simply wish to retire?

Ronnie started when he was in his teens, same with Hendry but Kyren turned pro in 2010 lost and left to be a bartender and then got his pro card back in 2013 and started climbing up the ranks and has 4 titles in just a few yrs of high lvl play. • These last few games of their match involved a lot of bad luck by Kyren, and good luck by Ronnie. To me, Ronnie's Immortal Game is his 146 -- it just shows his total command of the table. He KNEW, on shot two or three, that he could clear them all. And he didn't...just to make a point. That is the most immortal thing Ronnie has ever done, and ever will do on a snooker table.

  • The commentary is understandable that O'Sullivan "Gave way to frustration like he did when he was younger", and it may be right, or there may be a deeper reason for his seemingly wild shot. There is a 'mystery' involved in sudden changes of behavior, which may fulfill a 'need' in brilliant people, and his wild shot may have been perfectly sensible (as it turned out to be) and was in fact a kind of bravery. Bravery is a very strange thing. John.

  • 1:28 im no snooker player but ive seen alot of Ronnie and with the knowledge of needing those blacks to win that shot was just undeniable and frankly a gift to him even i could see that ( Pool player ) not to deny playing it that well isnt a feat on its own its just hes like a cheat-mode in a videogame, like that last Hidden-Boss after you've maxed every skill thats so overpowered you have to play to perfection to even stand a chance. the mental weight he exerts on other players is like playing with a handicap and you know if you miss anything or your safetyshots aren't covered enough hes just gonna run away with it and thats mental. the man has won like 75% of his professional games with his longevity and the dip he had around 2014-2015 if you count out the 'bad season(s)' hes been dominating for over 20 years... dont think ANY sport has had a let's say ''Dictator'' like this in the recorded history of professional sports. that last oppinion was without any research so if anyone knows for sure would love to hear it

  • I am a huge Ronnie O'Sullivan fan, but at the same time. This young lad feels the sting and may not get a chance to play him for a while. The pain in his face when he misses his shot or the second guessing himself when he is unsure about risking a shot

  • Ronnie sticking his middle finger up to the camera at the very end is hilarious. I’m sure he does this kind of thing for a bet. I remember in the early days he won a tournament and stuck out a false tooth at the cameras. 😂
