We Bought A Basket Case Jeep SIGHT UNSEEN! Will It RUN AND DRIVE After Being Parked For Years?

2024 ж. 25 Сәу.
1 465 303 Рет қаралды

A guy finally bought his first Jeep! The "wrong year wrangler"! We needed something to tow behind our old RV, so the obligatory Jeep was acquired. I bought this old wrangler out of North Carolina and had it towed back to my shop where my Son and I will attempt to repair it, and hopefully it start, run, and drive once again!

  • Hey Derek, I’ve commented before, but I wanted to make sure you saw it. It’s my senior year, and I wanted to honor you as a very influential person in my highschool career pushing me towards the trades, so I used “I’ll be dipped” as my senior quote (I gave you credit for it). Thank you for everything you do, and if you’d like me to change it please let me know

  • Hey derek. So a few things 1- the 4.2/4.0 series of engines do run at 210. 2- the rust in the windshield frame is normal. Quadratec has replacement frames for fairly cheap 3- the weber carb is an aftermarket replacement. Factory came with Carter YF computer feedback carbs, which is why there was an O2 sensor. 4- find a donor YJ or TJ with the 4.0 and steal the AX15 . The BA10/5 was an extremely weak trans, and getting parts fornthem now is almost impossible. Keep up the good vidsos!

Hate to see you build up that poison in your body. The little humans and Jess want to see you stick around for a long time . We used those ports in the old gas stations in the 70's. They work great. Love the show and your family.

  • Seeing you interact with your boys, takes me back to the days of middle school when my dad made me go with him to his shop on Saturdays to "help" him with his projects. At the time, I didn't enjoy it, because I felt like it was demanded that I be there. My "duty" so to speak. But once I started learning what he was "teaching" me, I soaked it up like a sponge!!! He helped me build my first hod rod when I was 15. It was a 1973 RS Camaro with a 396 with a 400 turbo with 3:73 gears and a pretty stout cam and a 750 Holley double pumper!!!! She would run 11:30's all day long. He taught me all the tricks!!!! I really enjoy the videos that you do with your boys!!! My dad passed away Christmas day 2017. I miss him so much. But I treasure the times we spent in his shop. He taught me so much about cars, but he also taught me so much about life!!!. So many parents don't take the time with their kids and they end up being raised by the internet and video games. Your boys will so much more grounded because of the time you spend with them. They will be problem solvers!!!! I hope you have much continued success and prosperity!!! You are the real deal!!!! Thank you for all you do!!!!!

    • @@JackOSUrulz @jeremyspurlock6636 @brianwhitman5195; contrary to common, popular "belief", false ideas, views, incorrect, improper, invalid, misleading claims, 'information', disinformation, mal-information,, misconceptions the correct proper, optimum operating temperature for coolant, pressure system is 210-220 F/99-105 C 🙂 The automobile manufactures had set their thermostats very low within early designs; they used water only, then added pressure to increase boiling temperature; later coolant with higher boiling and lower freezing temperatures. gradually through extensive SAE testing, verification, the knowledge for optimum operating temperatures for maximum efficiency, minimal wear were measured to be consistent; gradually the manufactures increased the thermostat temperatures, operating temperature standards to match the established, known SAE data from 1972-4, especially with computer, ECM, ECU, control. My first auto-mechanics instructor showed and taught us the SAE measured data in 1975. Clearly the common people, masses still lack the proper, correct, valid information; any, every race car driver, mechanic, etc., within each team from basic dirt tracks, SPRINT cars, Micro, ARCA, Modified, Late Model, NASCAR, F1, Indy, FIA, IMSA, LeMans, etc. know with certainty their proper operating temperatures are within the proper range and higher yetf for improved performance. At least, somewhere in the back of my mind I remember something to that effect. I’m 50 now, first Jeep was back in high school, a 1991 Wrangler. After that, I had many, as I alluded to in another post on this video. If I could have owned every single iteration of Jeep ever made, I would lol. Being in the garage is the absolute worst place you can be. A tornado WATCH means conditions are present for one to develop. You may know all this but the ones we get down here are more frequent and usually more dangerous than what you may have been accustomed to in Minnesota. Just want you safe !
