  • Would love to see Derek interviewed by Mike Rowe and his Mike Rowe Works foundation. We need more young people to understand that a 4 year degree isn't the only option and Derek would be a great ambassador for that cause. VGG is one awesome channel for a whole multitude of reasons. You can watch for tech tips or just watch to see a great guy having healthy relationships with his little humans and the boss.

    • Well the labor market will work itself out, Derek is a bit of an outlier. Not every blue collar worker becomes a KZhead "influencer". The reality is every blue collar worker out there wishes better for their kids. Not one guy I work with says "I hope my kids end up here". Many of my colleagues have had hip and or knee replacements and most of us are, or will be, deaf. So what you see here isn't representative of the reality of blue collar work.

Use the sticky side of the decal and stick it back on the spot of glue and snap it off at a sharp angle almost parallel to the surface. Should take the glue spot with it. quick and easy way without chemicals to remove adhesive spots.

  • *Pro tip for using rattle cans:* The biggest drawback of rattle cans is the tendency to "orange peel". An easy cheat to greatly minimize this is *_soak the cans in hot water_* before use. This will really help reduce the orange peel effect as well as helps keep the nozzle from clogging/spitting so easily. For obvious reasons make sure you dry the cans with a towel so you don't drip water on your surface. While this helps a lot with improving results with paint, it makes a _massive_ difference with thicker coatings like primer and Plasti Dip. Try it just once and you'll never use room temperature rattle cans again. Especially if it's cold when you're spray painting.

  • The small black dot on the top of an aerosol can, located under the spray tip, indicates the direction of the can's internal dip tube. To use the spray paint until the can is empty, you can: Rotate the spray tip so it lines up with the dot Tilt the can slightly so the dot faces down Point the nozzle toward the dot There is a small black mark near the top of the canister right under the spray tip. The spot corresponds to the direction at which the dip tube inside the can is pointed. Rotate the spray tip to align with the black mark on the can top and tilt it slightly so that the mark faces downward. The dot marks the bottom of the can's curved straw, which runs down the can's edge. When the nozzle is pointed at the dot, the contents flow to the end of the straw, allowing you to use as much of the product as possible.

I remember her on episodes but just though she might be busy with the little humans. I watched most of the early lives but as they progressed I wasn't able to watch them at the time maybe he said something there...and now it's been forever since they did one. I know on the drag week events she is on them with the family.

    • I believe some Jack wagons said some inappropriate things while they was doing the live mail shows. I honestly don’t blame Derek for not having her on camera. Matt with Demolition Ranch went through the same thing on his channel with his wife. His wife is not on the channel anymore and for good reason. It’s a sad world we live in when a guy can’t show his wife on a video. I only had a few videos with my wife riding in my Mud Boat. I took those videos down. My wife is 10yrs younger than me and turns heads everywhere we go. Not sure how I got so lucky, but I will not have guy making comments about her. They would never do that in front of me.

I'd finish up the doors and do general upkeep and cosmetics, otherwise I wouldn't touch it. It's perfect. Maybe do a soft top? I never grew up with parents teaching me things in the garage. Derek is like my internet dad teaching me how to do basic automotive things, which I never got. Thanks for all your efforts on these videos. I genuinely learn something every time I watch.

  • If you're gonna use this 2k (2-part) aerosol paint, make sure you *WEAR A RESPIRATOR* That stuff isn't your typical $4 can of acrylic Krylon paint, it's got chemicals in it that will cause damage if inhaled or ingested. It's nasty stuff. Oh, and the 2X stuff at your local Walmart is not 2K. Those companies know people will see that label on the can and assume it's the same "professional grade" paint. I have used the SprayMax 2k clear on several small jobs. It's best to make sure the can is warm, and get yourself a $2 trigger handle if you actually want decent pattern control.

    @SubtractZero@SubtractZero21 күн бұрын
    • As a painter, seeing him clear without a respirator made me cringe a bit. Not at familiar with rattle can stuff but damn, that clear has a chemical that’ll damage a fellers lungs in a fast way.

      @clintpierce4019@clintpierce401920 күн бұрын
    • @@clintpierce4019 I don't know if the clear he used was urethane-based, but I think the primer was. Most of the canned 2-part stuff has a port on the bottom to inject the hardener, which I didn't see on the clear. But being indoors and painting is always a recipe that involves a respirator.

      @SubtractZero@SubtractZero20 күн бұрын
  • I do a lot of spraying on smaller things like RC cars boats and planes One thing I have learned over the years is if you take your spray paint and put in really warm water shake it a few back and warm water for a bit. I have found that the paint will spread a lot nicer and even.
