Langdon (Tom Hanks) and Vittoria (Ayelet Zurer) discover a secret message in the Diagramma Veritatis.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
Angels and Demons re-teams director Ron Howard and star Tom Hanks for the sequel to their international blockbuster adaptation of Dan Brown's novel The Da Vinci Code. Although the book Angels and Demons was written before the novel The Da Vinci Code, the movie transpires after the events of the earlier movie. Hanks stars as professor Robert Langdon, the most respected symbologist in the United States, who uses his knowledge in order to decode a symbol on the skin of a murder victim. The clues put him on the trail of an international conspiracy involving the Catholic Church. Ewan McGregor and Ayelet Zurer also star in the Sony Pictures production.

  • In the Book, everyone was in a hurry, tired n running towards the Chapel, Hassassin n Preferiti. But in the movie, they seem a bit relaxed n looks fresh lol. This is my first Thriller Novel. Almost everything in the book feels so real n not fictional. Now am waiting outside Santa Maria Della Vittoria while Langdon struggling to save the Priest from the third element Fire. So curious that I can't wait to see how Screen Version would feel, so here I am. Will watch the whole movie after finding the Canister;)

  • In the book: 1. The room was barely oxygened and they had trouble breathing 2. The pages of Diagram of Truth were not tied together, so Vitoria didn't rip the page 3. Vitoria figured it out, not Robert 4. No one was guarding the room, they went alone 5. The Swiss Guards, including Oliveti, were dressed with traditional uniforms, not suits We could go on about the fouls of the movie, but this is a prime example of the MCU effect. No matter how good is the movie experience, the problem of unfaithfulness to the source material remains a problem

    @Detonated66@Detonated665 жыл бұрын
    • Stephen, the room was dehumidified, minimally oxygenated, and temperature controlled. We see this when they zoomed into the control panel and later again when the smoker nearly passed out. The page was ripped out of Il Diagramma because they needed to highlight the act of vandalism. Vitoria is a brilliant physicist, but Langdon had pointed out that Galileo had written the third book. They weren’t guarded when they were in the room, but the archives have millions, if not billions of dollars worth of artifacts and would be stupid if there wasn’t an escort. Except for ceremonies and public duties, the pontifical Swiss guards did not wear their uniforms. I get that the source material should be followed canonically, but film and book are on opposite sides of the same dining table. There are things that movies can do that books can’t and vice-versa.

    • Yes, you said it. I love the novel and I was really looking forward to the movie and even went to the theater to watch it... to be disappointed. It's not about being a purist, I know the movie format is a different language than a novel, but the adaptation of The Davinci Code was a lot more faithful with the novel and the movie still managed to be an exciting and smart action thriller. And don't even get me started on what they did to the character of the Assasin... Anyways, the novels feauturing Robert Langdon are always a great read!

    • When a book is getting translated into a movie, everything you just listed is practically meaningless. Movies are completely different mediums that have to change some things, those that you listed don't matter to the core narrative and honestly sounds stupidly petty.

  • People complain about how different the movie is from the book, like that's: A) A problem, B) A big deal, or C) Specific only to this movie rendition of a novel. Chill out, people. It's not the end of the world as we know it that the movie is different from the book. It's a good movie! Relax! If it were just the book in movie form, than what would be the point in watching? It's still the same story with slight differences!

    @kroneyt1493@kroneyt14934 жыл бұрын
    • Well I don't think most people treat it as the end of the world, but it is still disappointing because there's an inherent feeling that the movie could have been better. I don't agree with everything the book readers want, (like Swiss guards in traditional uniforms would be hard for American audiences to take seriously, even though I think it would've been cool as hell from a historical perspective) but most of them would've made the movie better.

  • Tbh the books are far better than the movies in my perspective, because the way Sir. DAN BROWN wrote each and every details about one's dressing and their features a reader can literally visualize the character and also athe events taking place. As a person who had read the whole Robert Langdon series, I feel like it's really better to read the books cuz the way of writing will completely addicted to the book. And about the story Angels and Demons. I watched the movie after reading the book I felt like there was a lot missing from the original story (book). The one who watching the movie without reading the book may have many doubts........and the humor in the book was missing in the movie, the way of dressing displayed in the movie, the entire CERN sequence, the appearence of Maximilian Kohler was also missing, the chemistry btw Prof. Langdon and Vittoria & etc.....was also missing in the movie. Don't know if it is because I've already read the book, I really felt terrible even with the starting of the movie as it ended so fast as I felt that the movie was incomplete somewhere.......I don't know but I couldn't digest this movie. So I prefer you guys to read the book (if you have time,ofc) And no offense to the movies.......ofc they're brilliant in the way of it's making........it's just that they didn't brought the whole sequence just the written in the book.

  • Just for completeness: This book „Diagram of Truth“ attributed to Galileo Galilei is entirely fictitious. He never wrote such. The moon drawing is taken from his work "Sidereus Nuncius", published in 1610. In later times, moreover, Galileo deliberately and intentionally avoided Latin and wrote in Italian only - so that the common people could read his writings. Also, the elliptical orbits of the planets attributed to him in the film were published by Johannes Kepler in his book „Astronomia Nova“ in 1609. However, Galileo had taken no notice of Kepler's laws of planetary motion throughout his life.
