@@WarHawk- Not true at all, the times have changed and so has the machinery but it's the same hobby it always was. Instead of carburetors and huge displacement, the car performance hobby is leaning more and more toward turbos and today's cars all have electronic fuel injection & ignition. It's still the same hobby it always was though, more work plus more money equals higher acceleration.

@offspring5519 - Oh, I understand that SOME bolt-on improvements can still be made with the cars of today, but for the most part because so much is computer controlled now, hours spent tinkering with settings (carbs, ignition, exhaust, etc) to achieve the ultimate horsepower results is no longer an option; where things like the feel of engine vibrations and the listening to the engines internal sounds were just as important to the shade-tree mechanic as any wrench. Because it wasn't about what you could bolt-on, it was about what you could do with it.

First of all, I approve of the chop at idle. That's some aggressive cam lift & timing and I'm all here for it. We don't have those big displacements over on our side of the pond and I love 'em dearly... Also, Fuel injected engine: Let me give ya the exact amount of fuel required so each of your cylinders' performance is as equal as possible, reducing wear along the way. On cold days, you're neither cranking for hours or have to use the choke until the smell of gas seeps into the cabin through the vents. Carburettor: Haha, dump fuel into engine make car go brrrr.

My legs shake with excitement when I start her up at 40years old you would think I'm 17. Not found another car that does that to me. The no mot/tax and £110 a year and going up in value is just a bonus! Best wishes dave

@@tomthegoat5139 1000 pounds invested in bitcoin should be able to get you one in 4 years! However mine was 5k and I tidied it up and a little maintenance and it's now worth considerably more. The 5.7 Chevy will also do 20mpg with an overdrive automatic box (700r4). Don't count yourself out they are perfect summer Sunday cars! Best wishes to you and family

Man, I'm almost 25 and I had 12 vehicles already. Toys are toys. And most were LIKE a bad drug addiction I had and I was so obsessed that it messed me up and my bank for years. It's cool, yes. But now isn't the time. Just gotta know when the right time is, financially and mentally. So. Just my Tacoma for now. Maybe later on, I'll have another Trans Am, GTO or maybe I can get a Road Runner. But they're not hopes and dreams like they used to be. Just toys and not as important as my needs and the people I now care about. Coming out of that addiction and going back to my true life, fitness and sports and finally being a social person, I'm much better off and I'm much happier with who I am, not with what I have.

I love the high pitched engine sounds as much as the next person, but hearing the low rumbling of an American V8 is just a next level experience. It very much feels like you're standing next to a breathing beast. I was quite lucky to run into a muscle car meet when I was is America, I canceled that day's plans and decided to hang around the meet area, you can feel those rumbles in your heart its crazy.

I used to think so too, but as get older I find I'd rather have the factory boot spoiler, proper Shaker, the stripes, front spoiler and the bright colors. I only really like the factory look esp in the engine bay but the plain jane 429 Boss look doesn't quite inspire me as it used to. For some reason I like the factory warpaint now. What changed me was a big block Mustang on Muscle Car of the week vid. I wanted that car so much I could taste it lol.

That is a very responsible driver. There's still quite a few around, but, you're correct - minimum production so as to meet NASCAR homologation requirements at the time (859 built in 1969, 499 in 1970).

As a young man in 1979, I heard this type of sound all the time, especially on Friday and Saturday nights. It made my heart swell to thing this is America , what a country. Mustangs and all muscles cars were only ten years old and a dime a dozen. I wish I knew then what I know now and kept my cars. That Boss 429 is AMERICA !!! 5 star video !!!

Just as Ford UK and Ford Germany were originally British and German companies until Ford bought them and "rebadged" them. In fact once Ford owned companies overseas it started to standardise it's catalogue of vehicles and the German catalogue won out over the US one, most of the Ford vehicles on sale in the US today were originally sold in Germany as Opal before Ford bought the rights to them. This is a beautiful car. The last all original Boss 429 sold in auction for almost 500k. The average value of the Boss 429 is 289k. With only around 1350 produced, they are one of the highest valued and rarest muscle cars out there. There is no way I could ever own one like that because I would never want to drive it.

These cars are rare because they did not sell very well, do to the fact that most people cruise in the summer and the engine was so damn big, they could not equip an air-conditioner. Even the battery was placed in the trunk, according to a friend of mine I work with, whos big brother had one a 1971 boss 429. He said the car could catch rubber at 80 mph and all other speeds, WHAT A CAR !!!!

The Boss 429 was never intended to be a high volume seller. Ford had to make a certain amount of them to qualify the engine for NASCAR. Ford didnt even install the engine, it was done by Karcraft. 71 Stangs had a 429 available but not the Boss 429.

That high lift, long duration cam is responsible for that loping idle.
It's called "hittin". It comes from having a high performance camshaft. And that Mustang was hittin HARD!

Instead of carburetors and huge displacement, the car performance hobby is leaning more and more toward turbos and today's cars all have electronic fuel injection & ignition. It's still the same hobby it always was though, more work plus more money equals higher acceleration.
@offspring5519 - Oh, I understand that SOME bolt-on improvements can still be made with the cars of today, but for the most part because so much is computer controlled now, hours spent tinkering with settings (carbs, ignition, exhaust, etc) to achieve the ultimate horsepower results is no longer an option; where things like the feel of engine vibrations and the listening to the engines internal sounds were just as important to the shade-tree mechanic as any wrench. Because it wasn't about what you could bolt-on, it was about what you could do with it.
First of all, I approve of the chop at idle. That's some aggressive cam lift & timing and I'm all here for it. We don't have those big displacements over on our side of the pond and I love 'em dearly... Also, Fuel injected engine: Let me give ya the exact amount of fuel required so each of your cylinders' performance is as equal as possible, reducing wear along the way. On cold days, you're neither cranking for hours or have to use the choke until the smell of gas seeps into the cabin through the vents. Carburettor: Haha, dump fuel into engine make car go brrrr.
Yes you do! Me lol. I Drive around Leeds in a 7.4 litre Chevy c10. It's carbed and all! Better response/top end power and simple as can be! My legs shake with excitement when I start her up at 40years old you would think I'm 17. Not found another car that does that to me. The no mot/tax and £110 a year and going up in value is just a bonus! Best wishes dave

The 5.7 Chevy will also do 20mpg with an overdrive automatic box (700r4). Don't count yourself out they are perfect summer Sunday cars! Best wishes to you and family

Man, I'm almost 25 and I had 12 vehicles already. Toys are toys. And most were LIKE a bad drug addiction I had and I was so obsessed that it messed me up and my bank for years. It's cool, yes. But now isn't the time. Just gotta know when the right time is, financially and mentally. So. Just my Tacoma for now. Maybe later on, I'll have another Trans Am, GTO or maybe I can get a Road Runner. But they're not hopes and dreams like they used to be. Just toys and not as important as my needs and the people I now care about. Coming out of that addiction and going back to my true life, fitness and sports and finally being a social person, I'm much better off and I'm much happier with who I am, not with what I have.

I love the high pitched engine sounds as much as the next person, but hearing the low rumbling of an American V8 is just a next level experience. It very much feels like you're standing next to a breathing beast. I was quite lucky to run into a muscle car meet when I was is America, I canceled that day's plans and decided to hang around the meet area, you can feel those rumbles in your heart its crazy.
I always take a deep breath of happyness when hearing this. Not just this car. With any car that does this while having a great engine sound.

I used to think so too, but as get older I find I'd rather have the factory boot spoiler, proper Shaker, the stripes, front spoiler and the bright colors. I only really like the factory look esp in the engine bay but the plain jane 429 Boss look doesn't quite inspire me as it used to. For some reason I like the factory warpaint now. What changed me was a big block Mustang on Muscle Car of the week vid. I wanted that car so much I could taste it lol.

What nuke plant? I see cooling towers and smoke stacks, I don’t see any nuke. Smoke stacks mean coal or oil. Cooling towers are just that, they cool the water, nothing whatever to do with nuke or not.

And my Dad ordered a '69 before the first one even rolled off the assembly line. The dealership didn't even have one in the showroom yet, that's how new it was. I'm still in love with them.

This car is awesome. Only a few of these engines were made and very few are still around.
There's still quite a few around, but, you're correct - minimum production so as to meet NASCAR homologation requirements at the time (859 built in 1969, 499 in 1970).
As a young man in 1979, I heard this type of sound all the time, especially on Friday and Saturday nights. It made my heart swell to thing this is America , what a country. Mustangs and all muscles cars were only ten years old and a dime a dozen. I wish I knew then what I know now and kept my cars. That Boss 429 is AMERICA !!! 5 star video !!!

Just as Ford UK and Ford Germany were originally British and German companies until Ford bought them and "rebadged" them. What I love most about this video is the little boy and his Mom walking behind the Boss 9...it's obvious the little boy asked his Mom to stop so he could listen and watch the car. Little boys somehow instinctively get it on which cars are cool.
It is awesome that the single digit old kid is walking by without taking his eyes off the car. He probably knows absolutely nothing about cars and yet is fascinated all the same.

This is a beautiful car. The last all original Boss 429 sold in auction for almost 500k. The average value of the Boss 429 is 289k. With only around 1350 produced, they are one of the highest valued and rarest muscle cars out there. There is no way I could ever own one like that because I would never want to drive it.
If you can afford a $250k plus car you would drive it. Its just money

These cars are rare because they did not sell very well, do to the fact that most people cruise in the summer and the engine was so damn big, they could not equip an air-conditioner. Even the battery was placed in the trunk, according to a friend of mine I work with, whos big brother had one a 1971 boss 429. He said the car could catch rubber at 80 mph and all other speeds, WHAT A CAR !!!!

+Daniel Collins Yes there was. I was there in 1971 and saw them with my own two eyes in the local ford dealership in 71. You just had to be there. It was muscle car dream time for all people who loved these cars.
The Boss 429 was never intended to be a high volume seller. Ford had to make a certain amount of them to qualify the engine for NASCAR. Ford didnt even install the engine, it was done by Karcraft. 71 Stangs had a 429 available but not the Boss 429.
+DYNO DON I thought Ford had to build 'x' number of production cars so they could race in the Trans Am series. Anyway, I love my '72 fastback, but always have dreamed of the '70 Boss 429.
