RUFFIAN MUSTANG: 625 HP "Boss 427" All-Steel Widebody 1970 Fastback Mustang | EP16

2022 ж. 23 Там.
1 125 174 Рет қаралды

Turning heads and ticking off Ford purists, the rule-breaking, all-steel widebody 1970 Fastback Ford Mustang, with its 625 horsepower aluminum block stroker 427ci LS3, was designed after the TransAm race cars from the late 60s and early 70s. The Ruffian Mustang is artist Chris Ashton's first car build, which has propelled him into the automotive spotlight. Nicole takes an autocross Detour in the "Boss 427", properly experiencing its T56 Super Magnum transmission, Hoosier racing slicks, lowered front control arms, 3-link rear suspension, and g-force meter at Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, California.
MORE ABOUT CHRIS ASHTON:
Chris is the owner of Ruffian Cars in Santa Ana, California, which designs, fabricates, modifies and builds street-able custom cars inspired by race car visuals, parts and technologies. As an artist with a 25-year career in the video game industry, Chris is also the co-founder and design director at Turtle Rock Studios.

You know, it's like talking about football but showing a bunch of guys, throwing a ball, in a field, drunk. Autocross is a gateway drug to auto sports and is an absolute blast. • Look at you, Nicole, with your race face on around the 24:30 mark. Intensity! Gonna say getting that close to the owner/builder's time in a few runs is very impressive. As for the car, the 1969-70 Mustang Sportsroof might just be my favorite style ever. I grew up in a Ford house so I'd put a 410ci Windsor in it, but that car absolutely killed it. It's his car, he gets to do what he wants, and it's awesome. I'm supposed to be working here and I could not take my eyes off the screen during the autocross sequences. Another fantastic episode.

    • @@NicoleJohnsonsDetour Well they have some medicine now and it’s helping allot. Lol I could never go to the dark side! 🤣 however I once built a turbo kit with a couple good friends for his pickup. We used to stomp around in it in Lubbock TX. It was a 5.3ls. I had a 97 home built remote mount twin turbo mustang at the time. (It wasn’t a thing back then) my car is still on the RB racing website under the oil scavenger pump pages. I still have the car. I am also nearly finished with my 2004 mach1. I built a boss block 4.6 big bore stroker (I think it’s a 5.4ish now) and it has a 75mm turbo. I just am wrapping up the fuel system and need to get it tuned. Watching this video for sure got me motivated! Lol thank you!!!

Geez, the amount of hours in this is insane. From investigating the next feature, talking to the owner, scripts, dates and times to schedule, driving to locations, making the owners feel comfortable with the camera and then hardware setup/takedown. Not to mention editing. Thank you for taking us along. All of the hard work shows and we definitely appreciate it.
