    • They called the penalty tho... Look at the game report. The ref even tells landeskog that he had the penalty being called. What do you want the ref to do? @Scott9002ca@Scott9002ca2 жыл бұрын
    • @@magic_taxes42 that was an easy call out in the open right on the puck though. I think this was a case of both officials trying to do each others job. You can tell the neutral zone official is looking to the middle of the ice off the faceoff when he should be looking more at the puck if its on his side boards. The deep official cant see the penalty through all those players and would be able to see any penalties in front of the net at that time.

    • Agreed. I am an Avs fan, and I have seen this help and hurt Avs players in fights this year. Even if it always helped the Avs player in the fight, it shouldn't happen. It makes it less safe for the players fighting (odd thought, but it is true). There are players I really REALLY don't like, and I really enjoy a good hit or a spirited tilt, especially when it is two dudes legitimately pissed at each other, but I don't enjoy seeing guys get seriously hurt. When stripes get involved before the fight has died down to the point where they can quickly and effectively break it up, it usually puts one of the guys in a good position to get hurt. It seems like officiating is getting worse, but that could just be my brain recognizing it more right now and forgetting how bad it has been in times past.

      @closethockeyfan5284@closethockeyfan52842 жыл бұрын
    • Yeah way. Fighting is dangerous and the whole sport is physically risky, even for the refs. The refs are the ones on the ice responsible for managing that risk to some degree. If they let too much slide and the game gets out of hand, people are more likely to get hurt (as a very much not closeted hockey fan, I hate when the whistles are blown too much just as bad). When refs jump in and try to stop a fight before they are in a position to decisively do so, the safest thing is to let the players fight and not hinder one player's ability to defend themselves. If they jump in and make it so one player is less able to defend themselves from incoming punches, I would say any punches the ref takes in the process are well deserved. I am a dyed in the wool Avs fan. I bleed burgundy and blue. I was amped to see MacK get fired up like that. All that being said, the ref put Mayo in a bad spot and that was wrong. I would rather see MacK get pissed and Mayo have the upper hand in the fight than see any player put in a bad spot because the ref wanted to be the hero. As a side note, MacK is mostly pissed because he is insanely competitive and was incredibly frustrated. The high stick was just kind of the straw that broke the camel's back. He is not going to go off because of a high stick alone. I have seen him take a bunch of high sticks. He does not often get nearly that animated because of it. I am happy to see MacK get pissed because for years I watched the Avs seem to not give a shit when they were playing like a garbage bottom dweller team. I'd rather watch my team sell out every night, win close games, win come back games and be the excellent team they are because their leaders show that kind of passion than watch my team lose every puck battle and play every game as though they already lost because that is the example the leaders set.
