  • That whole interview process was tres bizarre. You can tell that was the last place on earth he wanted to be, answering dumb questions after getting eliminated. I can't blame him. The guys probably still in shock trying to digest it all. You'll get more out of the coach during a moment like that. I wouldn't bother asking these players on the losing team anything until a couple of days later when they clear out their lockers for the season. You'll probably get some much more quotable thoughtful answers then.

  • I played a professional sport for 12 years and in all honesty whenever I lost a match I hated talking to anyone. especially if you played really well and things still just didnt go your way. Having to talk to reporters after a loss is probably the best way to get the players to lose a fan base to be honest. You are going to see a lot of elite players in a sour mood and its tough to hide that. To get to a pro level in any sport you have to be very passionate and wear your emotions on your sleeve and when you lose its probably the hardest thing to do is keep on a happy face for as long as they make these guys . you want handshakes with the other team that is fine but let the guys go blow off some steam for a couple days and then have a media day the day they are cleaning out the lockers.

  • Mackinnon is 25, Rantanen is 24, Makar is 22, etc etc. People are putting so much pressure on relatively young guys to win right now. In other sports like baseball, players don't usually even enter the Majors until they are in their 20s, let alone carry a team to a championship. These guys have time to figure everything out. If Colorado can keep their core together for the next several years, I think they will figure everything out and eventually win a Cup. Vegas is a very good team, and there is no shame in losing to them. They clearly aren't taking losing well, which is a good thing. They don't care how good they were in the regular season, so I'm sure they'll keep pushing to take that next step. They'll be fine.
