Nhl highlights today 2024 - Colorado avalanche vs dallas stars was one of the best games of the season. You can bet I'll be tuning into the next avs stars matchup, and not just for the nathan mackinnon goals (back to back ot winners for him i forgot to mention btw). The connor mcdavid auston matthews nathan mackinnon trifecta will be discussed plenty going forward, but also nhl news today , trade rumors , hockey highlights , recaps and reactions to mic'd up funny moments for many teams including the edmonton oilers , toronto maple leafs and more. Avalanche vs stars highlights 2024 - Wanna maybe make a mcdavid vs mackinnon video in the future. Nhl hockey

  • The injury bug has hampered Mac in previous years. Last year he missed 11 games and still had 111 points. He's the highest paid player in the league this year and is, at least, earning his salary. If he stays healthy 130 points seems reasonable, but McDavid is moving up.

    • McD would make 15m + a year on the open market now. Maybe 20. I really think Nate could trade blows with him with a few minor changes in style. Like shooting first always. Or like 70% of the time. So many passes don’t make it to a shot it’s so damn frustrating. And many times it’s with a very good look at the net.

    • @@damonm3 and how much would MacKinnon make on the open market? His contract extension was a huge discount for the team. Also, for the record, he takes a ton of shots. Shot volume is not his problem

    • Considering he was also paid on a $6.3M deal previously, he did the very non-Maple Leafs thing of doing right by the NHLPA by technically pushing salaries forward, while doing right by the Organization, the team, and the ability to win by only moving that needle by $100k in AAV. Dude’s a legend.

There is another who has all those attributes, and it should be easy to figure out, because he comes from the same place as MacKinnon, and MacKinnon idolized him growing up. MacKinnon takes the reigns as best player in the game when Crosby retires. Yes, MacKinnon is better right now, but the king is the king until he relinquishes the crown. • I'm from Montreal and it was absolutely PAINFUL to see Jonathan Drouin not only struggle, but face an absolute barrage of mean comments and unfair criticism. Sure, kid underperformed given the expectations, but there was a certain fringe of Habs fans that were absolutely ruthless, coming at him like he was eating newborns for breakfast or something. And now, Drouin has something like 12 points in his last 10 games and, more importantly, looks like he's finally having fun. Drouin has been vocal and honest about his mental health struggles in the last, so seeing him so happy gets me teary-eyed

    • I am an Avs fan, and (without any prejudice or prior knowledge of how Habs fans treated him) I was just as harsh on him by 15th game or so into this season. I just singled him out as the flop of the team and was not pleased at all that the Avs got him at all. He was just simply non-existent and just taking up space in the line-up and not vibing with the lines he was put on, and absolutely not performing at all. AHL call-ups were better than him. Seemed like some psychological issue that he had to get over with. However. Now he seems to be getting back on his feet. Which is good. Hope it continues and picks up more momentum.

      @tebo4681@tebo46814 ай бұрын
    • Just goes to show how much of a momentum game hockey is. Sometimes you’re hot, sometimes you’re not. Just look at Rantenen. Started the season on a tear, then had like a whole month where he couldn’t score a goal.

      @brandonhein7913@brandonhein79134 ай бұрын
    • @@brandonhein7913 Well, Rantanen is way more proven than Drouin, even if he is younger. Ranta delivers even when he is not scoring. Drouin has had a propensity of having people to ask "why is this guy even in this league?". So even the momentum should always be capped on the downside, you can't really suck in this league without noticeable consequences. Drouin is actually lucky that he so far got away with mere harsh criticism

In the playoffs, big late season games where the team needs a W. He’ll turn it to another level and show that he’s one of the 5 best to do this right now. Seemingly over the past year he’s made the conscious decision that he’s the top 1. That “extra gear” he seemed to showcase intermittently has become 1st or 2nd gear for him. An absolute gem. Ps: I wrote this on January 25th the day after his SECOND 4 goal night of the season. (Vs Washington) I don’t see him slowing down. W gabe out long term and possibly for good, he knows this is his team, he knows that his work ethic on and off the ice sets the tone for the other 21/22 guys in the locker room every night. He’s become the leader the Avs need, the player we’ve always dreamed of, and the best player in the world at the current moment. He’s UNreal.

    @tebo4681@tebo46814 ай бұрын
  • Ive been saying for a few years now MacKinnon is closer to being the best player in the league than people think. He was robbed of the hart, straight facts, Hall had a great year but shouldn't have won. Prior to finally cracking 100 points last year, he was on pace the previous 3 seasons but missed 10-15 games each season and fell just short of 100. His points per game are the more telling stat than total points. Over the past five seasons only Mcdavid has a higher points per game average. If not for missed time MacKinnon would have 5 consecutive 100 point seasons and more than likely some trophies. MacKinnon also has a Stanley cup, winning matters. Now obviously McDavid is the more skilled, talented, gifted hockey player and im not gonna try and say MacKinnon is actually better. I do think MacKinnon has more will and drive, the ability to motivate and elivate teammates and thats why he is a cup champion. MacKinnon had a solid but not spectacular first 5 seasons in the league, then the almost record setting bad season happened, then the turning point. MacKinnon was questioning himself, thinking " am i a bust " and went to work on doing anything and everything to get better as an individual player aswell as push his teammates to be better. No doubt McDavid single handedly wins games with his talent alone but i dont believe he has the ability to push his teammates the way MacKinnon can. MacKinnon lights the fire, demands success, infects everyone with the absolute hatred of losing and willingness to go all out do whatever it takes to win mentality. No homer bias, ive been a die hard red wings fan for over 30 years, hated the Avs since i was a teen in the mid 90's.

  • Watching his entire career unfold, the last few years have been truly special. McDavid may be the most offensively talented hockey player in the game, but MacKinnon is way more well rounded and IMO more fun to watch. He has a level of compete, intensity and physicality that McDavid just doesn't have. He was a late bloomer, but even approaching 30 years old he gets better season over season. McDavid may be better on paper, but I wouldn't trade MacKinnon for him, especially with the core that Colorado has established around him. I think the only thing that stops the Avs from another cup run right now is goaltending.

    • @deanasplund123 calm down, I didn't say he had none, I said MacKinnon is on another level IN THOSE AREAS. Just rewatch the playoff series between the two and tell me I'm wrong.

    • Nice backtracking.... 1) you realize that hockey is a team game 2) in the playoffs, one way to combat an elite player is to have a constant shadow (all the greats in the history of the NHL has had one in the playoffs, Orr, Lafleur, Gretzky), which is probably what happened.. 3) you don't watch many Oiler games, because if you did, you'd see that McDavid has all 3 what you mentioned and can deliver a good body check when he wants... but to say Mackinnon is better at all three... I know a lot of hockey experts would disagree with you 4) Yah, like I'm going to go back and watch playoff games Try get out of your bubble, and watch more than just the Avs. I watch other teams as well, just not the Oilers.... CLOWN!!!!

  • So glad the Avs announcers get some love. I LOVE their broadcasts. I feel like i hear other teams and it feels so dead and bland. I havent missed a game in probably 10 years. Watching this team evolve, and the players grow I am so glad Nate is getting some love. McDavid is obviously great but man Nate Dog plays on a whole nother level. I think hes proving hes the best all around player in the world. I will admit this year he is just different. I dont know what it is, just has this fire to him i havent seen before quite like this. If the Avs had better goaltending, Landi back with a full roster i really think the cup odds look good. Oh and we need to get rid of RJ hes Tartar 2.0.

  • I always had MacKinnon as the 2nd best player on the planet for some time now. Still think McDavid will overtake everyone in scoring by seasons end. Already thought this even when McJesus was like 80 something in scoring. If McDavid wasn't so good, then MacKinnon would easily be the best player on the planet (with Kucherov challenging him though).
