It is up to the hitter to go through the body and not hit the head same thing as blueger that was botched. If you want to hit big in open ice or on the boards you better be sure you get body and not head because the ownance is on your decision to hit. And if you miss some and get head then it is black and white, you're gone. And need suspended to make everyone go through the body and quit this sissy clip right in front because you're scared it might hurt you too.

@@purifiederik38 -- That's the point. It wasn't a good check by definition because Hall missed the body completely. He hit MacKinnon's arms which shoved his stick into his face. Find a coach anywhere who will say, "Yes, that's how I want forechecking to go!"

Don't know how you can say that Is a missed hit. Bout as textbook as it gets. North South contact, puck carrier tries to cut inside, shoulder to chest. Mackinnon stick was unfortunately right in front of his body as a right hand shot cutting sharply to his right with both hands still on his stick.

I like the new 5 min major reviews. Listen I like both Mackinnon and Hall. It was just a freak accident. Similar to Perry and Tavares, not an illegal hit, just unfortunate. I really really hope Mackinnon is fine.

Should’ve stayed a 5 hall principle point of contact was the head. Hall will get a call from the league. Just cause he wasn’t ejected doesn’t mean the league won’t look at it

Legal hit. It was a high hit but Hall was visibly aiming at MacKinnon's shoulder but hits his hand instead. Since it was a fast play, MacKinnon's stick act as a vicious slash to his face. But without the replay, it easily looks like a vicious hit though. The commentators were right on this shot.

Avs fan here clean hit. Live tho I was so upset with y’all but after the replay I calmed down really fast and understood what happen. Hope Nate’s good but come on hall you have to fight even if you don’t think you do, but I do get he was drawing penalties so I see both sides just my avs fan coming out. Great game sucks that Mac could not have been apart of it.

Oddly the rule is they can reduce the major to a minor, but they can''t remove the penalty completely. So there was always going to be at least 2 min. It's an odd rule.

Avs fan here. Totally clean hit and worthy of a 2 minute minor. I feel they should’ve let Hall get decked by Landy as a rebuttal. If Mac wasn’t bloodied and was laying there for a long time then I wouldn’t have wanted Landy to smash Hall up. Legal hit. It was a high hit but Hall was visibly aiming at MacKinnon's shoulder but hits his hand instead. Since it was a fast play, MacKinnon's stick act as a vicious slash to his face. But without the replay, it easily looks like a vicious hit though. The commentators were right on this shot.

The only reason it was a minor was because they can’t take away the penalty completely because they called a major at first. It should not have been a penalty at all but because of the new rules it was. Hall shouldn’t have to fight for that hit. It was a freak accident. Without Macs stick there is no injury or any second thoughts about the hit.
