Are you still reading this?! If so, type "Let them fight...eventually" in the comments below!!
Oh Quicksilver and Wanda are married in this film? Gross...
***** Calm down, it was just a joke. I actually don't care.
Becca Kravchenko i THOUGHT i WAS THE ONLY ONE WHO NOTICED THAT XDXDXDDXDXXDXDDDCDXDXDXDDFDHHURFJHIJFIHJLEYJMHRE
Becca Kravchenko they "did it" in the comics too
***** I still like to pretend that never happened.
Becca Kravchenko i never read any of the comics so nothing ever happened
Scarlett witch : you took everything from me! Godzilla : ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Scarlet witch : Godzilla killed my son. I'm going to wake up all Titans and let them destroy humanity to save the Earth. Everyone else includes the audience : Excuse me, WTF?
aznable1000 uh Ghidorah does that
😂
*Roar*
Godzilla: *Roar* (I don't even know who you are)
That scene where Godzilla ripped open the monster's mouth and used his Atomic Breath down it's throat was worth the wait IMO.
Needed to change pants after that
Until Shin-Godzilla came along and blew that scene literally out of the water
SHIN GODZILLA Be careful though, they might file Kaiju assault charges.
As he stood in place. I swear shin Godzilla just walked *very* slowly and turned his head a few times as he fires his laser beams and fire. He is so motionless and lifeless, I never got a sense of awe from him.
Completely agree
*godzilla is doing his atomic breath *take that true love* i died
People need to know that Godzilla prevented an incestuous relationship ...
"Let them fight...eventually"
Even that, they showed partially
"Let them fight..." Like anybody was going to stop them from fighting?
Hey did in 2021!!
Hey good news
Wow! you read the description.
Why are people still bitching about "not enough Godzilla"? This was a throwback to the 1954 original Gojira. Godzilla is the star of both films, but he's not a main character. He is a force of nature. Both films explore the actions of the human characters in the face of the destruction caused by their own nuclear weapons.
Because nobody cares about human characters and nuclear weapons. We want to see Godzilla fight something and fight it hard.
The movie is called godzilla, therefore it needs to have a reasonable amount of godzilla.
CalvinistOnACouch And that's the mentality that brought Michael Bay to life.
Damnit. What you said made perfect sense and equates my perspective. But then CalvanistOnACouch makes the other good point the more primitive part of my brain has always wanted; Gojira fighting stuff.
CalvinistOnACouch So you want 2 hours of mindlessly fighting?
"Do a crossover where they all fight each other & stuff" We are getting there man, we are getting there...
does anyone else think the 2 monsters have faces like stapler removers?
I can't unsee that now.
Just realized quicksilver and scarlet witch are married and have kids in this movie
Talk about incest.
In sokovia, no one cares.
I think movie producers made a reference to Marvel's Ultimates. In that comic, Quicksilver & Scarlet Witch are in a relationship & yes, they are brother & sister.
+Walter White yeah Magneto doesn't care and in even one of the comics wolverine spies on them doing it
incest is illegal in Westeros though...
Ken Watanabe has a look on his face the whole film like "did I forget my car keys at the house, did I leave the oven on"
But he did say one really cool line -Let them fight . . .
He has the look like "why am I and Godzilla the only Japanese in this movie?"
More like, "WTH Agent, really"?
Lol
The thing is, I felt Godzilla even more intimidating BECAUSE of the little screentime and the smoke and stuff. The airport entrance and the atomic breath was just perfect, because of it.
The stare music! :D
Mata C whats the title of this music
I need to know!
Chappell music - Great Ambitions.
Shrihari Hudli thank you
You are a legend. I had this stuck in my head for 3 years.
My only problem with this film was.............. humans
They were useless the whole movie. Main characters did nothing, it's almost as if they put an hour and a half of a movie just to explain unimportant shit to make it a movie and cash in. The only thing I would tell anyone to watch is the last 20 minutes where they fight. Most of the fight sucks but Godzilla breath is so awesome.
i thought walter white was cool.
It's the same problem with the Transformer movies, you have all these cool robots but the director goes "Oh no, now watch these annoying people for the next one hour!"
stupid humans easyyyy...........
Zee Captein to be fair there the major problem with all Godzilla movies
"There was barely any Godzilla, it was just a bunch of boring characters and exposition" So it was an original Toho Godzilla movie. Has anyone actually watched a Godzilla movie?
Oh look, a smart person on the internet. See, this guy knows his shit.
MrZurata People not familiar with the classic Japanese Godzilla commonly mistake good character development and build up for boring.
Nicholas Ratay Do you realise that build up is actually referring to the suspense building up, as in its meant to be exciting.
Frost y Yes, and in the classic Godzilla films, and in the 2014 film, it did that, I was on the edge of my seat by the final battle!
MrZurata The Toho movies tended to be shorter, which helped. And generally, it's not the *best* ones that took forever to show the monsters. www.slate.com/blogs/browbeat/2014/05/17/godzilla_2014_shows_the_monster_an_hour_in_does_it_work_the_data_on_how.html Here's how long it took for Godzilla to show up in the original.
Godzilla may not have had much screen time but when he was there it was brilliant
Bryan Cranston is the focus of every trailer for this movie, yet he’s only in it for 15 minutes
That is some serious staring music.
+Wandering Wade whats the music called ??
I don't know, but it made me stare too.
+Upol Alam I think it's called "inspiration"
+wuraola olagunju Close, it's called "great ambition"
I think they used it in the X-men one too Best staring music ever
Most people in my theatre applauded when Godzilla's Atomic Breath was first shown. I may have stood when I applauded.
Yeah actually I applauded when I seen the atomic breath. And some other guys cheered as well. It was pretty cool seeing that in theaters. I also seen it in 3d. Which didn't really add much to the experience but it was still watching the movie regardless.
I looked at the screen speechless in disbelief . . .
This scene alone saves the movie and makes sure that they will be 3 or 4 movies that they wiil be likely to be released . It reedems the whole franchise and shows the greatness of Godzilla in all its atomic breath having glory . . .
If there was a flag in the theater I would have saluted it.
I lost it in the middle of the stares song when he actually took the binoculars like , intense staring hahahah
Why is this on my recommendation after 8 years and wow 8 years and now King Kong Vs Godzilla is legit now
You come from the future? How's the Mars mission going?
You missed the opportunity to use the pun "Goodzilla" :)
There's a channel based on that
We need a whole movie off Ken Watanabee starring off into the distant
letters from iwo jima might be a good bet.
The ZombieMan basically that's what he does in most films.
The ZombieMan We need more movies with Ken Watanabe in them period.
GuardianGrarl simple.....we put a mirror next to him
The ZombieMan Ken has "The Stare" (FMJ reference)
0:12 6 years down the line they actually do it
Why yes, I am back here after the throwback in the latest Honest Trailer.
I lost it at "real Kaiju have curves" and almost died LMAO!
My one is Godzilla's fart
Sean Durham The Japanese end credit cards affect me every time . . .
If you look at the old suits I can see where he’s coming from
@@QuanTrietLOL a nuke fart😂
The movie never went full godzilla. Always go full godzilla.
That's not how it works. It'll just get boring by the end of the movie. Humans always play a role in these kind of movies. Besides, the sequel will probably have a bit more of Godzilla. And yes I said a bit more. Times are different.
***** I agree with that as well
***** Preach, bro, Preach!!
Going full Godzilla really helped Citizen Kane.
Jurassicparkrules96 Well for all we know the sequel will have Mothra, Rodan and freaking King Ghidorah itself. So you can bet your pancakes it's gonna be good.
Look like you were right about Godzilla King Kong and a giant robot fighting each other
Honest trailers is a fortune teller omg
Ken Watanabe is one of the best starers there is.
Damn right he is
I think the coolest way to describe this movie is Godzilla avenges Walter White's death.
I never thought of it that way, but lol that makes perfect sense!
CallmeJoe Not only does he avenge Bryan Cranston but he saves Brodys life right before Brody had just saved Godzillas life with the destruction of the MUTO nest creating a distraction buying him some time to recover from that beatin.
RelapseGalore55 Okay now that makes more sense than I intended :)
Godzilla is the danger 😂
Here after the latest honest trailer to say: yes, thank you!!
When he said stare i died 😂😂😂😂😆
Oh, the stares music. I feel nostalgic.
What's the name of the song? Is it Sandstorm?
ekklesiast Chappell music-Great Ambitions
Que haces acá picarón? Andá a hacer más vídeos dale jajaja :P
there a lot better when there not in twilight.
"Take that true love" lol
Anyone back after Godzilla vs Kong honest trailer?
Since King Of The Monsters has come out, please make an Honest Trailer of a classic Godzilla movie!
Being a Godzilla fan since I could walk *Maybe even before that*, I liked this one. I thought it was good, it was like Godzilla King Of The Monsters *The first one*, he barely showed up, but when he did, he wrecked. I liked the Muto monsters too, they were adorable, yet horrifying xD The one was much better than the 1998 peice of Garbage.
Apparent the only other person here, who's seen Gojirra.... Good job. Also not one of the assholes moronically praising the 98 atrocity... Iguana zilla... No... That was such a bad film in surprised japan and America didn't go to war again.... Yea japan has been an American territory... I mean occidental country since the end of the 2 world war.... But, idk they could figure it out. Seriously, the Japanese hated the 98 godzilla so much that they put it in a godzilla movie so that the real Godzilla could kick its ass. 98' Godzilla good? Delusional people... This film was enjoyable it was a throwback to the original Gojirra which had very little Godzilla...people forget... Even in the Japanese sequels which have more Godzilla , they still focus more on a tacked on human story , which are usually much worse than the humans in this one.... Atleast final wars had Mayor Hagar..... Who I assume pissed on the ashes of.... "Zilla" as the Japanese call that abomination from 98'
Why is being faithful to the shitty Japanese films a good thing? '98 Godzilla was at least fun and had way more of the title monster. The proportions of this old-school fat godzilla look retarded. Besides it was more about boring us to death following a dull, idiotic and generally impotent protagonist.
I totally agree with you jasper
To comment on Orlok, I can not disagree, that was bad. to be truthful, I thought that 98 Zilla was better but I was young and stupid. Freddy Beuler was a bad actor not my fav. I no thats not his name but who gives a shiza. all in all this new look of Godzilla did Toho justice I think so far.
the first one...both the japanese and the Perry Mason version are not really like this one... sure structure and pacing is similar, we see the destruction and we see the just glimpses of the monster. but they are ideologically different: Gojira, the first one, is more or less a "horror" movie. with the monster flatting Tokyo and destroy it harder than Zod and Superman in the last Man of Steel (with the difference that Man of Steel did that because Snyder is worst than Michael Bay... and wanted to prove it) in this he is a good guy...he defend the world from other monsters...
an honest trailer in one of the original japanese godzilla movies would be hilarious
+godzillaisnuclea123 Godzilla Final War trailer would be the most funny one.
Dragantis1991 Deffo, that movie is garbage. But trying to explain the plot of Godzilla vs King Ghidorah with all the time travel would be funny too.
+godzillaisnuclea123 is better than godzilla revenge and godzilla 1998
it probally wouldn't work it's good
This Godzilla movie remembers me to Ultraman who only come to help when giant alien Monsters appear and once battled side by side with Godzilla.
“Best American Godzilla movie ever made” KOTM here to take that honor “A Godzilla movie with barely any Godzilla in it” KOTM here to fix that “Godzilla: The Good One” KOTM: The Best One
Exactly! King of the Monsters was so good
More shitty in the human parts... yey, I guess.
xD
Let them fight...... eventually.
Any minute now......
Hold on, just a second.......
Any day now
they will
Fun Fact: In Jurassic Park, dinosaurs are only shown for 14 minutes of the 127 minute film.
Citation needed, also dinosaurs weren't meant to be the star of the show in that movie, if was far more about humans trying to survive in a world that still had dinosaurs. Godzilla is supposed to be the main act in his movie, he is hailed as the king of monsters because he is so bad ass in fighting them, is it so bad to want more of Godzilla fighting monsters in the Godzilla movie?
xavier wagenknecht No, Godzilla is supposed to be the focus of the plot, but is not supposed to be seen very much. All of the classics focus on the humans.
Nicholas Ratay This American was just like the Japanese, I loved it.
Cedric Deckmyn I completely agree!
Fun fact: The humans in Jurassic park... weren't boring as shit
To people who say "this Godzilla movie sucked." How many other Godzilla movies have you seen? Honestly, if you watch many of them, they're not that great to begin with.
Original 1954, 1974, 1998, 2000, 2004 final wars
original, 1998. this one is better
Sasapesso S That is not the original. LMAO. So many more Godzilla movies WAY before that,
IflyinGa do you know what (,) stands for? original is 1954. what I wrote is 1954 one - aka original ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, 1998 one. get it? I have watched only 3 godzilla movies: ones made in 1954, 1998 and 2014
Only the original and Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla movies. The rest are fun. This movie wasn't a masterpiece, but it was better then that piece of crap 1998. 'That's a lot of fish', biggest disappointment ever.
Do Godzilla king of the monsters!!!!!!!!!! LONG LIVE THE KING BABY. GOJIRA!!!!
Ok- ?
The staring music is always so EPIC! LOL! 😂
Pulp Fiction Honest Trailer, 20th anniversary
Movie has to be really bad in order to Honest Trailer to be funny. Like this Godzilla movie
***** yeah I guess but there'll find away around it im sure. I mean they did it with Forest Gump and Captain America 2
You guys did a great job pointing out the flaws and funny mistakes of this movie! Good job! Having said that, I still think that Gareth Edwards did a fine job in restoring Godzilla's honor. I understand if people are calling this movie bad, but when people are calling this Godzilla the worst movie ever, you know it's bullshit. Yes, I wish Cranston had more screen time, yes, more Godzilla would've been cool, but if it had more of the Big G, the final fight wouldn't be as awesome! For those of you out there who like this movie, there's no shame in doing so. It's a solid 8/10 for me.
***** Their movies don't suck, because they have interesting things around them that make them not just "okay" or "solid" (like Godzilla), but actually, geniunely GREAT.
I really liked this movie my only complaint is that the main character was a not as good as I hoped (and that there was not more of Godzilla)
Totally agree. I think most people's (and my own) problem with the lack of Bryan Cranston, is that he was so heavily advertised in the trailers and TV spots. If they had focused more on the soldier character then maybe people wouldn't have been as annoyed as they were.
Finally! Somebody else who enjoys this film. I understand why people were disappointed by this film, but for me, the minimal amount of Godzilla and fight sequences prevents the film from becoming boring and repetitive. It's all about the build-up and it totally paid off once we got to the final act. The last battle would have lost its impact if we had a tonne of battle sequences before it.
Respect to you :)
"He's a professional bomb diffuser who doesn't diffuse any bombs"
Besides the ending fight, favorite scene in the film by far was them "descending into hell" as they jump out of the plane set to that classic score from 2001 : A Space Odyssey. I grinned so hard once they played that music as it blended so well with the scene and at once payed homage to cinematic royalty.
This movie has the same approach as Jaws. No one complained about that, and it achieves the same effect. Awesome.
"Going to have a train wreck life..." You're right. How fucked up is it that he'll probably never have the luxury of sitting behind a keyboard judging you & determining the quality of your life over the internet... tragic.
The difference is Jaws is a horror movie.
Lol he deleted my comment. Anyway, I'm going to post the link on why what Gareth did was shit. Why Godzilla SUCKS!
It is similar to Jaws because it has the "Brody" family in it.
At least Jaws has mildly interesting characters
i can't get enough of the "stare" music. anyone knows the original title?
I literally lol'd when he suddenly used the binoculars XD
Алексей Замский sir, you have my thanks
Darude-Sandstorm
Nobody's gonna say it? It's easy bait guys.
I lose it everytime I listen to it LOL.
"Instead of watching the title character kick ass, spend hours of screen time with Kick-Ass" HAHAHAHAHAHAHA
"With his boring family"
I love the music they put on the staring montage
Criteria for actually liking this movie. 1. Know what the fuck Godzilla even is. 2. Have more than just Godzilla 1998 in your list of Godzilla movies you've seen before (THAT movie shouldn't even be considered a Godzilla movie, anyway) 3. Have an actual appreciation for build-up. 4. Know that in most Godzilla movies, Godzilla himself doesn't have much screentime. 5. Be able to not mind slightly bland characters/acting every now and then. 6. Barely know/not know anything about Breaking Bad 7. Not be a Bryan Cranston fanatic 8. Not be an explosion/action whore and/or a Michael Bay fan. 9. Not be a stuck up prick who can never be pleased ever. 10. Never go by the trailers for any movie ever. If you meet most or all of these criteria, you will be sure to love the ever loving shit outta this movie. :) For those who meet very little or NONE of these criteria, you will most likely hate this movie with a passion and moan, groan, complain and bitch about it anywhere on the internet you can, any chance you get. ESPECIALLY on KZhead comments on videos concerning this movie.
Haha! I love this comment. I await the bitching trolls who meet none of the criteria to reply and call you and I idiots though.
dang, if it takes that much to like it than it's not a good movie, isn't it?
***** lol ok buddy
***** or you know. Maybe people like godzilla vs biolante or other classics that are much better than this movie. I guess it's hard to fathom that people rather watch a 70s godzilla movie because it's actually fun to watch.
***** if anything you're the one taking it seriously buddy. "I never said that this movie is the best in the series, now did I?" bro, calm your tits. I never said you did either. I can see trying to have a reasonable debate is pointless.
Superman - Oh, sure, when Godzilla destroys half the city and kills the unstoppable threat to save the world, everyone cheers. But when I do it, everyone gets all grouchy and judgmental,"
Lol I saw that video hahaha
thefilmmakerkid98 what video is that?
How it should have ended - godzilla
Wanna go get some coffe ?
jonty bhagat Thats already a thing
Oh my lord this video has me in stitches, great writing and narrating!!
I love when you read the misspelled requests! More, more, please!
People forget how the original Godzilla movies were also rather devoid of Godzilla, until the 2nd half of the movie. I like it this way actually. People unfamiliar with Godzilla wanted Pacific Rim again when they criticize about how little Godzilla is in Godzilla. Remember, he was made as a metaphor to Nuclear destruction, an ominous, looming presence.
And gravity-defying drop-kicking goodness!
Yeah, but they didn't have enough suspense to make it work. It was marketed as Godzilla vs Cranston, but in reality it was nothing like that, and was devoid of a likeable person to root for after Cranston died. And not to nitpick, but the only reason Godzilla isn't seen mucho the originals is because he looks shit.
Really don't give a shit about how the movie was 50 years ago.
To many people went into this to see Godzilla fight. When I see a film, I sit down and think "Impress me". And I was impressed.
Alex Zarandi It was marketed that way so that people would go, I still loved the movie but it wasn't what I expected
I love that he pronounced the typos at the end.
It's a running joke with Honest Trailers. Check out some of the others as well :D
I know they've said what people requested them to for a long time, but I don't ever remember them actually saying comments that had typos in them before.
He reads the comments exactly how they are written. Like if I was to say "Say I am Goort" even though he knows I meant Groot he would still say Goort because that's what I typed
"Discount Channing Tatum" I'm dead
That stares montage music is so cool
I don't understand why it's been this long for another classic "stare" montage. There better be one in the next honest trailer to make up for old times sake.
Agreed. The stare montage was the funniest part lol
I feel that... More epic stares!!!
i watched about 30 seconds of the twilight one. i have needed glasses ever since.
YEAH! xD
Huh? Why would you want to watch the same jokes over and over? Just go watch the old videos with your requested joke...
Can you please say "Don't believe in yourself. Believe in me. Believe in the me that believes in you!"
Who the hell do you think I am!?
one of my fave animes!
Makes sense!
KAMINA!!!! Who the HELL do you think HE is?!?!
Thank you!!!
I just want to say, I love that the cool voice says it with typos
0:21 I actually said that when Kong eats a bunch of fish in Godzilla vs kong.
Not showing enough Godzilla is not a legitimate complaint. It's what made this movie actually good. Jaws was great because they kept the shark hidden until the very end. I guess people don't have patience or appreciation for minimalist approaches in our ADD "everything all the time" society.
it is not "everything all the time" society. The titular character is at least supposed to be explained properly. If its a predator, why didn't it 'eat' anything? Why was it teased throughout the movie? Patience is okay if you have at least 5 minutes of pure action, not just two vomits and a tail whip!
So this movie was good as Jaws because the main characters were not on screen al l the time? Is that really your point? lmao
I didn't say it was as good as Jaws. Godzilla is not even close to the level of quality of Jaws. I'm saying that one of the things that made this movie actually decent was the build-up and sparing use of Godzilla shots. Godzilla isn't really the main character, just like Jaws wasn't the main character. It's more of a disaster/thriller movie. If it was just fighting monsters, it would be stupid.
this godzilla sucked more than the first one
B Prashanth Godzilla and the MUTOs feed off of radioactivity. Which means that they can feel whenever something is drenched in radioactive waste, including the MUTOs. You can assume by what Project Monarch has studied off the creatures that Godzilla eats other MUTOs. But after you get the crap kicked out of you in a two against one fight, I doubt the first thing on your mind is food.
Before this video was released Godzilla had 7.1 on IMDB, now it was 6.8. So as funny as this video is, you just made a bunch of 12 year old fans rate Godzilla down because they havent seen it and you gave the impression it was bad because of its 'lack' of Godzilla. And if anyone thinks lack of Godzilla is a reason to hate it, just think of Christmas, it comes once a year, and everyone loves it. Of course they wish it came around more, but if that happened it would lose excitement.
Don't worry, it's still a good movie
Pfft. Even leaving aside Godzilla entirely. The acting was sub-par across the board, and the movie was filled with plot holes and stupidity. Its fine to focus on the human element and building suspense. But they have to be done well, and this movie did NOT do them well.
Oh yeah, sure one of the main reasons the first Jaws movie even worked was because you hardly ever got a good look at the shark, it was kept a mystery the whole movie so it kept you interested. Just the killing off of bryan cranston and replacing him as the main character with this boring military fella is what bored me about this movie
That doesn't excuse why they showed the Muto's more than the actual title character.
Deserves way less than 6.8
The music behind stares is AWESOME
Al these shots from Godzilla 2014 give you a sense of just how big they are because there all in a place were a person can stand.
To the people still complaining about Godzilla not being in the movie much: Welcome to Godzilla movies. Watch any other Godzilla movie and most of the film is indeed spent focusing on the human cast with very little screen time for the kaiju battles. Seriously, at least this was semi-plausible and the human cast wasn't dealing with aliens or subterranean people. To the people still whining about Bryan Cranston getting killed off early in the movie: If you came to see a Godzilla movie only because the guy from Breaking Bad was in it, then this movie was NEVER for you.
Again, have you NEVER seen a Godzilla movie? That's Godzilla 101. You come for the monster fight and sit through an hour and a half of boring people to see it. That's the formula.
JustinAKABiff That's just stupid. That's like saying all movies and tv shows today should be in black and white because they were like that 60 years ago.
Seraphim Valkyrin Please. If Godzilla had been 90 minutes of non-stop kaiju fights then people would have called it overstuffed CGI garbage. You build intrigue and suspense and you make people wait for the big reveal and the payoff. That's the simple formula that the Godzilla movies are legendary for. So it's more like saying because James Bond has ALWAYS had gadgets, girls, and gimmick villains that he should have those things now. It's a staple of the series. And a staple of the Godzilla series has always been a weak yet passable human element that serves as the lead-in and build-up for the kaiju main event. If you don't like that, then fine. But the movie wasn't made to appeal to casuals. It was made to appeal to the series' fanbase. Cranston was just thrown in to add mainstream appeal. That's why you have the mainstream fans complaining that he wasn't in it long enough.
That was just adding to the buildup. We still get the final showdown in the climax of the film. Again, more than you get in MANY Godzilla movies. Seriously, has anyone here actually WATCHED a Godzilla movie that didn't have Matthew Broderick in it?
JustinAKABiff I didn't come to see a Godzilla movie because of Bryan, I came to see a Godzilla movie to see, you know.......... Godzilla. And he appears for like 10 minutes. GREAT MOVIE.
I still fucking love this movie, I kinda liked the Godzilla-teasing, it reminded me of Jaws (Which is kinda what Gareth Edwards was doing) Godzilla wasn't even in the original movie that much either so... yeah. **ATOMIC BREATH DOWN YOUR THROAT**
The original Godzilla wasnt about Godzilla, it was a movie filled with a message about nuclear energy. The scenes with Godzilla were fun, but you take godzilla out of this movie and you have a boring movie 90% of this movie was non godzilla the people are boring, 90% of this movie is boring.
Rev55 Just like the original movie, yet nobody complains.
!
***** because the original was a message about nuclear energy, in a time where nuclear war was a threat. This movie had mo message, it had nothing unique to say, it was a generic invasion movie. Plus we live a world where this isnt our first monster movie, godxila 54'? Was original, plus they where drivin by limitations we dont have very many limitations any more.
Aaron Michael Holden Breeding is how the word is spelled, you ignorant little shit. Learn how to spell before saying something.
I love the music you play in Stares section :P
You guys should do the original old black and white Godzilla. It gives me the willies.
I liked the movie. As a reboot, the film was spot on at reintroducing the King of Monsters. Fans who call this a shit stain of a movie I really feel are overdramatizing.
I haven't seen any fans bashing the movie, most like it. I am a huge fan and I thought it was a masterpiece. Perfect Godzilla movie and one of 2014's best films in my opinion. The only people I have seen bashing it are people who know nothing about Godzilla and wanted "Walter White vs Godzilla" or fans of the lousy 98 film who wanted it to be non stop action.
I consider myself I Godzilla fan since I've seen about 75% of them and I have to say, this movie was okay/good, but didn't meet my expectations. I'm okay with Godzilla taking a while to appear but I'm not ok with him barely being in the movie at all. I think the ones from the early 2000s had the best mix of action, humans doing stuff, and build up (eg Godzilla vs Megaguirus off the top of my head)
Nicholas Ratay I'm a fan... the movie sucked.
Masteroftheweb Well, different people, different opinions.
Masteroftheweb NO IT WAS FUCKIN AWESOME!!!!
People are bitching way too much about this movie. The director was going for a less-is-more approach with gojira, and it payed off. It felt like I was watching a good disaster movie with giant monsters, and godzilla's first roar and atomic breath scenes were freaking epic. Pacific Rim had plenty of monster action and that movie looked like a video game
It's the same approach that was used with Jaws, which is hailed for barely showing the shark, but sadly people today need explosions every ten seconds, because of fucking micheal bay
I wouldn't have minded that they barely had any Godzilla, but they killed off the more interesting (and better acting) lead, put way too much focus on the human, and they did way too much teasing and off screen fighting with Godzilla and the other monsters. They couldn't have at least one on screen monster fight before the finale? They could have shown the monster getting away since it could fly.
not gonna lie, this movie was flawed. I agree with everyine that Bryan Cranston's character should've lived and ATJ's character is annoyingly unkillable. Hell his wife was a more interesting person to watch, but what we got of Godzilla was epic, and the special effects were top notch and most of the actors did a good job. I'm sure the makers of the movie have listened to the criticism and the sequel will only be that much better because of it
I DIDN'T WANT A DISASTER MOVIE! I WANTED A MONSTER BATTLE MOVIE! 1/2 monsters, 1/2 humans. Not 4/5 humans and 1/5 monsters.
I realize how judgmental I seemed but still, I want monsters fighting. Not a man who is "OMG so desperately trying to get to his family :(" I did not go see it for the humans. But for some reason these days everything has to have a deep meaning and make u cry. Its to the point I don't cry watching movies anymore.
Ken wantanabe's stares is a masterpiece of good acting. The intensity they bring!
guys love how you add that epic starring sound
Say, "I'm a Barbie girl, in a Barbie world, Life in plastic, it's fantastic."
I think he did about 9 months ago... forgot the movie but watch them and u will find them.
Thanks!
It was in the Twilight 4 Breaking Dawn one :)
Twilight... That's why I didn't see it!
Admit it, you lost your shit when he used his atomic breath
No, I just sat there laughing at how retarded that scene was.
that glow had every Godzilla fan's head explode. (including mine) All I could do was gape and point
AfroPuma186 Luckily mine's stayed intact.
AfroPuma186 When I saw that start up at the tail... ohhh man the nostalgia!
Nick Santillo "What is that glow- wait. WAIT. Ohhhhhhh hoooooooooooollllyyyyyyyyyyy-" *_BOOOOMMM!_*
the great thing about this movie is, precisely, that godzilla never appears, but you can feel it there, attacking. The movie builds tension by not showing the monster
I laughed so HARD at this one that I think I'll have to go back to hear half of it! Well done!
Movie should be called "Barely Godzilla"
or "find my wife"
Well in jaws they barely show the shark. And it worked out. I think it's a great way to make a movie
this movie shows enough godzilla. the original did the same thing
Every Godzilla movie is Barely Godzilla.
I guess every Godzilla movie should be called that, then.
the stares music is always so epic
I always think the same thing!
I missed this music
this moth that is totally not Mothra LMAO what an epic voice man. subscribed!!
That music they use for staring. I love it.
You know what I absolutely love about this movie? The fact that the entire thing is shot from human point of view. Neither any of The Rings, nor The grudge, or any other horror movie didn't scare me as much as the jump to San Francisco (Acrophobia combined with fear of giant monsters, good stuff). With guy in a rubber suit you can't achieve that much and I liked the new design. I mean it's not really new it's remake of the original one with some new features to it. Great movie
This is by far my favourite film of 2014 so far. Always loved how people whined about a lack of Godzilla, I guess they've never seen Jaws, Alien or other movies that cared more about making its main creature almost mythological and teasing it throughout the movie before paying off huge at the end and if they did, they'd probably whine like babies about those movies too.
I agree completely! Godzilla was awesome!
I think the main flaw is how bland or annoying the characters are. Jaws and alien had good characters and interactions between them to help keep viewer interest, this did not
You sir are in the right. Many films old and new never feature the main hero/villian till the end. Godzilla made the scenes with the king more action packed than most of the films out so far.
I love the excuses this movie gets. When the majority of the screentime is made up by boring human characters then the movie is going to struggle when you have 11 minutes of monster in it. Jaws and Alien had atmosphere through the movie that carried it. This movie just felt like a jerk saying "here's Godzilla...nope you get stupid characters again." Too many times they should have just shown what was going on and stupidly cut away to something else. If you want to tease Godzilla then at least do it properly.
I'm pretty sure the problem with that analogy, is that Jaws and Alien were more like horror movies, while Godzilla wasn't. Also mysteriousness only helps when we don't know anything about the creature. And we already know everything about Godzilla. Thus making the mysteriousness kinda useless.
I wish Honest Trailer would make a trailer for a Mothra movie...any Mothra movie because they are utterly hilarious.
Your stare montages are legendary.
"Tell them to run, you idiot!" lmao same thing I was telling myself when I saw that scene.
When I was watching this movie, I was staring at the screen just like Ken Watanabe.
The stare music may very well be my favorite thing that Screen Junkies do
I like how some people are weirded out on the actors that played as the maximoff twins had also acted as a married couple for a film. They should look up on how the twins were like in the Ultimate marvel comics.
Just some background info for people that admittedly have a right to not like the film. The rights to Godzilla is owned by Toho, and when the original 1998 godzilla came out, Japan was so offended that in 2004 when they made Godzilla: The final Wars, they re-named the creature 'Zilla and then had it get defeated by Godzilla in less than a minute so they could disassociate any connection to the 1998 film. That's why in the 2014 film the creatures that Godzilla fought were MUTO's instead of the actual Japanese creatures that Toho owns the rights too. However, thanks to Edwards' respect to the Japanese versions of Godzilla, Toho gave the rights to Legendary to use their other actual Japanese creatures such as Mothra, Rodan, and King Ghidorah for the future Godzilla films, which I believe is a major sign of respect about the 2014 film.
I agree with you totally im just disappointed it wasnt like Godzilla when I was a kid with him kicking monster ass for at least half the movie. Hopefully the next movie is like that
game1tactics if you saw too much of him the film's suspense would fall. also you'd get tired of seeing him for a longer time. also also it costs a lot of money having a cgi godzilla
to*
@game1tactics , the truth is Godzilla never kicked ass for "at least half the movie" he literally is never in his own movie for more than 20 minutes . It's true . Most of us remember Godzilla movies the way you do because of nostalgia . The fact is we blocked out most of that bad human character parts , which are actually the remaining 70 minutes. Sad isn't it?
game1tactics Oh man which movie was that? I think there was one or two movies with more than 25 minutes of Godzilla.
"like you've never seen him before" heh heh get it?
Thanks for predicting Godzilla vs Kong!
Please make an honest trailer about Shin Godzilla (2016) japanese film, thanks!
we need this
From all the complaints about Godzilla not being on screen very much I take it none of them have seen the original Godzilla from 1954. If they had then they would know that he doesn't show up until 45 minutes into a 96 minute film. That's the younger generation of movie goers for you, impatient. They build up Godzilla for a reason and when you finally see him its just badass. No one likes a build up nowadays.
Well to be honest I liked this movie, but really when I take a closer look at it, it really does have some very major flaws. Sure the first godzilla also had very little of him, but he was the main spotlight, not some other random two monsters. And also in just a 96 minute film, he had more footage than in a 123 minute film. That's ridiculous. So eventually what you end up with is a "godzilla" movie that seriously does not have any godzilla in it. And don't talk about build-up or what not because since he's no longer the main spotlight anymore. Also, bryan cranston dies. That was one of the biggest let downs for me especially the main characters were also extremely boring, especially compared to the cast of the 1954 film. In the 1954 film they actually DID SHIT and had their own personalities. This one really didn't. You begin to see why so many hated this film, and to be honest, it's not a great tribute to the old 1954 film of you think about it.
Yes, because as we all know, nobody knows what Godzilla is so he really needs that build up. I personally could have swore Godzilla was a shark before this movie.
Fucked up thing is. Once Watanabe said Godzilla, everyone in the theater instantly burst out laughing
Can confirm.
The movie shown that the ones who made it arent real Godzilla fans lmao
Funny thing is, seeing it opening night with all the other hardcore fans, everyone instantly cheered and screamed with excitement at that moment, myself included. But seeing it again later with a general audience, yeah, they laughed and mocked his accent. It was pretty upsetting :/
I was waiting for him to say Gojira and I got really excited when he did :3
Well Gojira is the original name after all.
Can't wait for King of monsters Honest trailer
1:32 this sentence has a different meaning now, since the director of this movie, Gareth Edwards, next film is The Creator, which was previously titled True Love. Just something I noticed
