In late 2022, Marcato (the maker of the famous Atlas pasta machines) started making all new Atlas pasta machines with removable (and therefore cleanable) blades.
This is super important and useful for polymer clay artists and polymer clay earring makers. You no longer have to get your machine modified to have easily removed blades.
This video is part of an article here: thebluebottletree.com/atlas-p...
Note: if you have an old Atlas pasta machine, you can get it modified to have removable blades at monakissel.com
And if you want to have a custom-colored pasta machine, you can get them at edscolors.com
After a few frustrating months trying to clean my machine, I realised while watching this that my machine is one with removable blades. You’ve changed my life! Thanks so much!
Where did you get yours from? I was going to buy one from Amazon, but in the Q&A section, it said they didn't have the removable blades.
@@jakeerik2168 I think I bought my atlas 150 from Amazon too.. that’s strange they say that. I’ll have a look!
Just a little FYI - you may have a heck of a time getting that bar out the first time. Mine was VERY hard to remove. Actually took some time moving it back and forth to get it to finally come out but it DID come out. Black clay is a bear !!! Thanks for posting this video.
I just realized my Atlas 150 is this design. I had no idea, I just got an atlas 180 from Mona. love it.
Lucky you!
I'm glad I came across this video! I've been trying to get a monafied machine recently after getting fed up of rolling clay with an acrylic roller for 10+ years!
I have a disability and can't use the pasta maker anymore for my clay and find hand conditioning very difficult. Do you have any alternative ways you can suggest?
I just bought a Atlas pasta machine. It's called Atlasmotor, - this does not seem to apply to mine, or am I doing something wrong?
Does Ed's Colors sell the machines as well? or do you have to send them your machine?
He sells the machines. Check his website for his most current terms. He may have changed things.
If I read it correctly, modifying your old machine to be able to remove the blades costs about double the price of a new machine. On the other hand, it looks like the only "new" Atlas pasta machines sold through Amazon are the old design, without the removable blade feature. If you know where to get one of these newly designed machines, a link would be appreciated.
The prices on Mona's site reflect purchase of a modified machine. You'd have to contact her for the price of the modification of your machine. As for current sales of new machines on Amazon, readers have said they're shipping the new machines now, though the listings do not reflect this.
One of my rods came out really easy, its great. The other no luck. Any suggestions? it just does not pop in far enough like the other one only moves a small amount
Try turning the machine on its side and whacking it against your palm. The momentum should push the rods into the lower side, releasing them from the opposite side.
Can this machine be used with earthenware clay?
No, I think it's too soft and would just gunk it up.
@thebluebottletree Ok, thanks so much for the feedback.
