I think he won but if he hadn’t spent a few rounds resting he’d have definitely got the nod AJ can go 10 easily but also whilst throwing a ton of punches without taking rounds off. • Ngannou's performance against Fury makes this fight extremely interesting and very hard to predict with confidence. Probably my favorite upcoming fight in both boxing and mma, and I'm a fan of both sports. Ngannou could really set himself up as a major money player even if he loses, as long as he makes it competitive. Amazingly a Joshua loss doesn't seem totally far fetched, even though he has to be the favorite going in.

    • No question about it, Ngannou is already a big player in boxing, at least for now. The Saudi money is ginormous and means that every one now wants to fight him for the huge reward. Coupled with his legitimate fighting prowess and his fascinating backstory all fans have come around to wanting to see what he can accomplish in boxing at the biggest stage against the best. But if he gets completely dismantled and annihilated by AJ, his stock plummets and the narrative becomes that his boxing success was mostly Fury disrespecting and underestimating him. But if he wins or loses very competitively he remains a huge money man in boxing, where he has already earned by far his two biggest paydays. MMA will also pay bundles to get him back in the cage. He's got both hands firmly grasping his dream, and we get to watch it unfold.

  • I genuinely believe that the level of analysis that high level MMA coaches are capable of lends itself to finding a great game plan against traditional boxers. There’s so much footage on these high level boxers and very little on Francis as a boxer. I think between the freakish ability of Francis and the tactical approach of Erik there’s a really good chance that Francis holds a belt in the next year or so. And it probably happens before Francis has 7 boxing matches

  • I actually think that Fury suited Ngannou better than Joshua will in some ways. Fury building off feints, which Ngannou didn’t react to, and Fury’s insistence on engaging in the clinch where Francis is both physically stronger but also craftier with frames and grapping went a long way. Joshua fights more traditionally but also won’t try to clinch Ngannou and carries more power than Fury. On the flipside though, he’s also less durable so Ngannou can definitely hurt him and barring a huge difference in foot speed, could just walk into the clinch if need be.

  • To me it’s going to come down to pace. If Francis can hurt Joshua and make him tentative he can slow the pace down and pick his shots. If Joshua can exert his will and put faster combos and make Francis fight fast then he can wear him down and possibly finish him. Francis is a great athlete but all that muscle requires oxygen

      @clementitalume564@clementitalume5644 ай бұрын
    • @@clementitalume564 that was the thought going into the Fury fight but Francis is smarter than most people realize, when Tyson backed off he would back off and would use it as a way to rest and recharge. He rarely chased. Hes a lot faster and has a lot quicker reactions than people give him credit for but he gets tired of the fight gets too active. He fought a great strategy that allowed him to conserve his energy but he made the mistake of underestimating his gas tank and was a little too conservative especially in the last two rounds. Tyson had some success when he totally back peddled and jabbed and moved in that he at least was able to land one or two more punches and steal the rounds. I don’t think Joshua can do that because that’s not his style. He’s going to have to fight behind his jab stay in the pocket slip and rip combos. Keep the pressure on Nganou and make him fight fast. That’s how he takes his power from him. If he goes backwards it allows Francis to recharge, he might be able to win that way but 1. He’s not a good backward fighter like fury 2. It will make Francis a lot more dangerous during the whole fight and I don’t think k Francis makes the same mistake and will press a little harder. Hes going to have to hurt Francis and keep pace on him. If he gets hurt or fights afraid of Francis power it could be a long night.

    • U make it sound like Joshua doesn’t carry more muscles in the last fight Tyson was much more tired than Francis,remember every body shot from a power punch like Francis takes the opponent steam out and eventually depletes all that energy from his opponents.also once they feel Francis power it changes opponents game plans to try play it safe AJ is gonna get countered with left hook shot,and he is a stationery fighter no head movement I can see Francis designating a granade on him easily

If Joshua can maintain composure, measure the distance & work behind the jab without getting hurt, he should outbox Ngannou and may be able to switch it up in the late rounds if Ngannou tires. But if AJ gets caught clean by Ngannou there’s a chance he could lose composure and crumble, and then Ngannou won’t let him off the hook.

  • I don't intend to dampen the enthusiasm, but it's worth noting that many boxers are leaning towards AJ winning by knockout. It's intriguing how some may overlook the strategic advantages an MMA fighter possesses over a traditional boxer. In boxing, attention is mainly focused on the left and right hands, whereas in MMA, one's entire body serves as a potential weapon. Humorously, MMA fighters often jest that their only need for improvement is stamina to endure 12 rounds of 3 minutes each. Examining the Conor vs. Floyd bout illustrates this point; the MMA fighter performed notably better in the initial rounds. The challenge lies in sustaining the intensity due to the extended duration of boxing matches. I anticipate Francis securing a knockout victory, considering his enhanced fitness and refined movement. My admiration extends to both athletes, and I wish them the utmost success.

Fury never really seemed to hurt him either. Joshua has shown a suspect chin at times, which has made him a bit gun shy. Usyk is not a big puncher and he had Joshua hurt badly. If Joshua gets caught by Ngannou, it could definitely be lights out for him.

  • One thing I noticed in Ngannou’s fight with Fury was that he took a few good punches from Fury which seemed to have no effect at all and I think that unsettled Fury because he became very cautious after Ngannou landed a few good punches of his own. AJ doesn’t have a great chin so if Ngannou can land a few good punches I think AJ will become very cautious and defensive. I don’t think AJ will dictate the fight. I think Francis can really disrupt AJ’s offence if he keeps switching his stance from orthodox to southpaw to disrupt AJ’s game. He could really capitalise on AJ’s fear of getting knocked down/out. I think mentally Ngannou will have the advantage, albeit AJ will have the skill and experience advantage. This should be a really good fight. I honestly think Ngannou could win this.

  • I think it will be a big tast for Aj to beat a monster like nganu who weighs more, and he has the most dangerous power punch ever recorded with 96 horse power .so Aj has to be very cautious and use his experience and fighting skills and never engage for a knokout because there will be a counter attack from nganu and definitely a knokout punch.

  • If you watched AJ vs Ruiz 2... that is what we going to see from AJ tapping jab a moving away from engagement... on other hand Francis have nothing to lose his only chance to get W against these people is via KO... and he will try to put judges out of equation... me personally thinking that Francis will catch him and hurt him, but will he be able to finish AJ who only need to survive to win, I don't know... that is really hard task.

  • I dont like this match up for AJ. My worry is that he will struggle to land significant strikes due to ngannou patiently holding form and coming forward. In the meantime time ngannou will be throwing big bombs which will eventually get joshua nervous and cause him to get on the back foot and box not to lose instead of boxing to win. I still think he wins but I don't think it will look good which defeats the entire object of this match up. And of course there is always the chance that ngannou lands a big hook and cleans Joshua's clock. Then what?

  • All these people saying how Ngannou will beat AJ are probably the same people who said the same thing about McGregor and Mayweather - and we all know how that ended. What you will see in this fight is a boxing lesson for Ngannou. He will be completely outboxed, and, in his frustration, will throw haymakers and be severly punished. Yes, Ngannou is strong and has a good chin but anyone who gets hit flush by AJ is going down. I don't even think Ngannou will last more than 4 rounds before he gets knocked out. AJ likes fighting the big strong guys - it's the smaller ones he has trouble with.
