Ovi blasted Marchand into the boards helmet flying. Marchand barely knocks over Ovi after he was already kneeling from a hit behind. Ovi won that tradeoff clearly.

he was still in the play.. its Ovechkin, cant give that guy an inch, one of the only players that could make something happen from that position. And considering it was Marchand, that was about as clean of a hit you could ever expect from him on someone in a very vulnerable position. Would expect a head shot to be honest.

@@bigmikeystyle Did you watch the hit from Ovi at all? Marchand literally takes half a second to turn his back when Ovi was already t'ing him up for the hit. Literally play it from 0:03 and slow it down. Pasta lined Ovi up square in the numbers. Marchand's hit was clean though potentially dangerous cause of height difference with Ovi kneeling.

I believe it only applies when hitting someone into the boards or the goal posts or it's just a minor penalty if open ice at the refs discretion based on how violent the hit was. Guess they didn't figure it was that violent so no call.

Yes , his style sometimes is questionable. He doesn’t Turtle like Ulf Samuelson or Claude Lemieux did. Marchand stands up and takes it as well as dishes it out. If he was a free agent rite now , every team in the league would have an offer on the table.

Only for the Boston bruins is that second hit not a penalty. The difference between the two hits was that Ovi's hit was a well timed and clean check to separate a player from the puck. Marchand's hit was a dirty hit from behind with no intention of separating a player from the puck. NHL reffing is a joke!!!

As just an nhl fan i love old school physical play hockey in today's game the hit on ovi is questionable back then this is considered clean & honestly even soft but as a caps fan just the fact that ovi didnt get up & cry I love it because yeah pastrnk hit him from behind but it was legal & marchand cleaning up garabage & ovi hit obviously was clean but we all know had tht been crosby in ovi's skates he would of got up crying angry & skated off cause he would of not took up for his self he chooses certain players to take out frustrations on

ovechkin is a big guy 6' 3" and 240lbs. him hitting marchand must have hurt. when he hit ovie he was down on one knee but still handling the puck so marchand was in his right to hit him but it's the only way he would ever be able to hit him because if ovie is on his feet marchand wouldn't go anywhere near him. ovie isn't afraid to throw his weight around because he is so big, marchand is relegated to slew footing.

Ovi blasted Marchand into the boards helmet flying. Marchand barely knocks over Ovi after he was already kneeling from a hit behind. Ovi won that tradeoff clearly.
and Marchand even went down on that hit too. They will talk about Ovi for the rest of the NHL lifespan. Marchand will just be another player. Ovi already won before putting a blade on the ice.

Literally play it from 0:03 and slow it down. Pasta lined Ovi up square in the numbers. Marchand's hit was clean though potentially dangerous cause of height difference with Ovi kneeling.

I believe it only applies when hitting someone into the boards or the goal posts or it's just a minor penalty if open ice at the refs discretion based on how violent the hit was. Guess they didn't figure it was that violent so no call.

As just an nhl fan i love old school physical play hockey in today's game the hit on ovi is questionable back then this is considered clean & honestly even soft but as a caps fan just the fact that ovi didnt get up & cry I love it because yeah pastrnk hit him from behind but it was legal & marchand cleaning up garabage & ovi hit obviously was clean but we all know had tht been crosby in ovi's skates he would of got up crying angry & skated off cause he would of not took up for his self he chooses certain players to take out frustrations on
