  • I'd agree with most tips, especially the show-up-early one. Most tourist attractions open between 8 and 9, tourists show up after breakfast, i.e. between 9 and 10. Have your caffé e cornetto at a bar (usually open at 7) and a second breakfast after the colosseum. If you like a challenge, you can also rent a scooter and discover Rome the Italian way! Lots of fun and you can see places that are really difficult to get to with public transport. That said, I don't think you need a Hotel downtown. I usually stay in the Castelli Romani (my favorite is Frascati). It is much more relaxed, food is better because there are less tourists and more natives, and you can get around wonderfully with a scooter or out there even with a car (rental at airport). When you want to go to Rome, you will take the train anyway. From Frascati to Termini 30 mins. If you are planning to stay in the city late, you still have the scooter (with which parking is no problem). In any case. 3-4 days for Rome is a joke! I've been going to Rome since 1990 at least 1 or two times a year and at least for a week, usually for longer, and I still haven't seen all there is to see. If you come to Rome for 3-4 days, make sure you come again! Oh - and it's pronounced "porketta" - not "portschetta" - ch in Italian is pronounced like a k.😉

    • Use ‘eat like a local Rome’ as a search term. Look for 6 or 7 sites that are clearly food oriented. If a place comes up on 3 or 4 of them, it’ll be good. If wandering- contrary to rumor it’s possible to eat well without a second mortgage near (ish) the main tourist sites. Look for small places without a view of the sites. Look for menu and conversation by clientele in Italian. Look for a small number if menu items, ideally on a blackboard by the door. You’ll probably eat amazingly well for half what the microwave pasta near the Coliseum costs. Check out Testaccio for lunch and the really cool artists co-op in the old meat plant for a relaxed lunch. The Ghetto or Trastevere have a variety of excellent places as well. Trastevere is beautiful at night.

  • Greetings from Las Vegas! We just had our anniversary at Caesars Palace at a restaurant called Trevi. It's amazing how similar the looks of the Venetian and Caesars are to the actual country of Italy, there's obviously no comparison, but this was a great video. Thanks for sharing. We Liked this video and will be checking out more.

  • Hi Rok, first of all this rome travel guide is probably the best i have seen 😊! I really appreciate the footage, which brings me to my question: do you know which focal length u used for the wide-angle shots and could u tell me pls😅? For example at 08:12 forum romanum, 08:32 Pantheon and 03:42 Im going to visit rome in May and i cant decide which lens to take: SonyZeiss 16-35mm F4 or Sigma 20mm F1.4 DG DN Currently i prefer the SIGMA (better in low light), but im not sure if its wide enough 😝 You really would help me a lot ! 🙏

    @alexanderwinkler9544@alexanderwinkler9544 Жыл бұрын
    • Thanks 🤗 16-35 is my favourite focal lenght. But I also keep 24mm prime for low light situations. I also use 24-105 for details. Hope this helps. I wish you a great trip.

Unfortunately Rome's bad are the dexterity thefts carried out especially on the metro, 90% are done by young gypsies from Eastern Europe, Slavs, Romanians, Moldavians etc... One last note, you have to learn how to use a fork properly to eat spaghetti! Ah! Ah! Ah! However you did very well.
