Rick Steves Rome
Rick Steves' Europe Travel Guide © 2012 | In this hour-long travel special, we explore the "Eternal City" of Rome, a grand and ancient metropolis rich with exquisite art, vibrant culture, and centuries of history. We trace the rise and fall of classical Rome, meander through the heart of Bernini's Baroque Rome, and make a pilgrimage to the Vatican. Then, we follow Rick as he uncovers the charms of hidden neighborhoods filled with character and energy, enjoys a Roman feast, and mixes and mingles with the locals during an early-evening stroll through the city's romantic nightspots. #ricksteves #ricksteveseurope #rome

I grew up watching Rick Steves on PBS as a kid, I had never travelled outside of the US since our family was super poor but I always dreamed of visiting Rome. Glad to say in college I'll be going in May!
Congratulations on your trip! I know how excited you are. I recently retired from a humble job and this coming Septembner I will be taking a trip to Rome, Florence and Venice. I've saved and dreamed of this trip my whole life. I'm so excited. I'm 70 years old. Have a great time and be safe.
@@daftbeeswax4439 Good for you! Be safe and have lots of fun. I hope my sister and I can go later in the year. Chao!❤
See you there! I arrive for school in June!
Good luck
Have fun on your trip!
Rick and Team: Wonderfuly done. Thankyou!
I've watched every episode of Rick Steves' Europe at least a half dozen times each. Thank you so much for transporting us to places we likely won't ever be able to afford to go.
Me too
There are many legit organizations that offer volunteer jobs overseas. You get to travel for free. Check out some videos on KZhead.
I believe that you will able to visit and experience it someday. Trust the universe.
Don't be cruel to yourself by saying "i likely wont ever be able to afford"... Everything is possible with planning, effort and a little bit of faith! ;)
🥲
Hello Rick, this is Ashwin from Rome. What you had at Al Farnese wasn’t mozzarella, it’s called Burrata, hard from outside like mozzarella but inside is filled with fresh cheese called stracciatella making it super creamy and tastes much much better than mozzarella. My suggestion to all tourists….try Burrata , if not available (as it’s not in menu of all Italian restaurants) then try mozzarella di buffala (Made with milk of water bufalo) is much creamier and richer than regular mozzarella.
This has to be THE BEST video in all of youtube of ROme !! Splendid ! Amazing work!!.
Visiting ROME made me cry as its so peaceful and beautiful statues art and churches. I DIDNT WANT TO LEAVE.
Yes Rome is probably One of the most beautiful cities in the World
What I loved about Rome so much was how walkable it was. Main "arteries" of streets led you directly to key area/sites. Which, also made wondering away from these, quite easy to find our way back to our hotel. Rome, the eternal city of "bucket-list" sites.
I agree ! Just a little walk across the bridge at Castel Sant Angelo and you are in the hustle and bustle of Piazza Navona and that is but one of thousands of examples
Is walkable because is not driveable😂😂😂😂😂
I've been to Rome twice and enjoyed it very much. The Spanish Steps are really beautiful when covered with flowers.
Rome, the eternal city . I have been there. It is best explored travelling by foot / bus/ trains. Imbibe its atmosphere, culture, cuisine and night life and street life. I can walk for years in Rome and not be done seeing it all. That is how magnificent Rome is. Kudos to Rick Steves for capturing it in this video.
I think I walked more in Rome than any other city- after 8 miles in a day I tapped out. Gorgeous city and wonderful food. Glad I was able to visit pre Covid
🙏🏻Thanks so much 📀Rick tour 🕊Rome .how so beautiful 💫I love it 💫God many blessings to you 🙏🏻and your family 💫🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻📀👨👩👧👦
We’ve been in Rome several times. We’ll be there in February again for a week and revisit all these great sites again.
Many, many thanks to Rick Steves and the team. Been to Rome once, but never saw it as definitively as in this ad-free video---it is very much appreciated. It's been a precious 55 minutes being spent walking through a gorgeous city, gaining both knowledge and enjoyment. May your good karma bring you true happiness and the peace of life!
I have been twice, in organized tours and maybe 10 years in between trips. Never saw so much of Rome like in this one hour videos. Great!
I've been to Rome 3 times and I watch this video all the time because I always miss it so much
Thank you so much I was in AWE!😍💙💝
Rome is an amazing city, just wandering the streets is an activity in itself!
Thank you Rick...for taking me to Rome. Wonderful show.
Thank you Rick, thank you for your kindness in spreading the beauty of Rome. The Rome that must belong to all humanity, for what it was and for what it is today. Our Italy is truly wonderful. I am from Milan and it is equally wonderful, as are the over 8000 Italian municipalities. Each with its historical and social characteristics. Thanks again. Good life.
I love Rome, i have so many wonderful memories , and you showed all my most treasured places. I must go back !
We visited Italy 2017, staying in Rome for 1 week. This excellent video brought back so many great memories! Time for another visit🧳🙂
Nice to visit Rome via this video. And Bernini, what a talent that guy was!
It’s a compact travel documentary show, that’s the reason why I want to go back again to Italy-- ❤️🇮🇹.
I have just returned from Rome ! Had an awesome time ! Can't wait to go back !
Rick, you do such a good job educating and inspiring us about Rome, Italy and travel itself!
Thank you Steve. Rome is not simple, it's amazing, wonderful and history in every inch of it.

From TRUDIVA ... I love this episode it definitely shows Rome being "Eternally Engaging"!
I saw what you did there Rick. Comparing America's thirst for violence with Rome is just brilliant.
Супер репортаж видел много чудес супер города мира ! ! !❤❤❤❤ 😎😀😋🙂
I loved this tour!!! Thank you. So many beautiful spots. You're right, the churches are like museums. They are exquisite! So much to see. I loved every minute!🥰♥️
No pPlrotestants can comprehend the spirit behing Renaissance Rome!!!
I love all your programs,, it gives me the possibility to travel "virtually", hoping one day will be able to visit Europe in person. Thank you. Very grateful.
As an Italian and a Roman, the way you pronounced "pooncharellay" worthed the whole video!!! Simply lovely! Thank you guys great job!
Rick & Team; WOW! Fabulous ride. THANKYOU.
These series are very cozy. It's like back in the 90's.
Love Rome! Thanks Rick and team ❤️
Italy is such a beautiful country. I have taken virtual walks thru all of Europe and felt like I was there in person. Your videos which I always enjoyed are very nice and informativeExcellent job I never tire of watching them
Great photography! Magical light! Great to see such a thorough description of one city🥰
When I was young I dreamed to be a year in Italy, maybe in Rome. Ah, now I am old-er and can only remember that fantasy.
There are real Vampires in Rome, they’re there from ancient times, they re out and about , do not think about them, they know when you do, they read your mind
Rome is my favorite
Visited Rome 10 yrs ago. It was awesome. Want to go back.
I was in Rome a few years ago for 1 week. I loved it. So many places to visit. My favorite was inside St Peter's Basilica - it felt like I was in heaven.
What a beautiful and entertaining video. A detailed description of Rome. Very good presentation, very good videography. The videos made by other vloggers about Rom are completely incomplete. Thank you so much . God bless you....!!!
Fantastic video. Me and my wife were in Rome last month just for 4 days. We did everything we wanted to but it's left a lasting impression on us both. Probably the best place I've ever been to. We are planning to go again when we both turn 40 in 2024.
My wife and I is correct English.
@@BigEightiesNewWave terrific. Want a cookie?
40? You said this as if you were 90, man :) You're both young and you go and explore. My wife and I are both 45 and we started travelling and exploring not that long ago and if I may suggest something rather important to you both would be this: please do not make the mistake most Americans do when they travel to "Europe" - they only see Paris and London, the postcard places which live in their global mentlaity as real Europe. Nope. Go to Austria, visit the Alps, the Dolomites, see the Netherlands, Brugge - the oldest medieval city on the planet. Go to Poland, see the Baltic Sea, the Hel Peninsula, the Tatra Mountains, Bieszczady Mountains and take a bike ride along the Dunajec River in Pienininy Mountains. See the Czech Republic, see the Balkans: Croatia, Bosnia and Hercegovina, Montenegro. Visit Greece, Malta, Portugal and its amazing island - Madeira. Go to Budapest, Bavaria (Bayern) in Germany, see Saltzburg and Graz in Austria. While in Italy, visit Lake Como, Lake Garda, and the surrounding villages. Go to Bari, Sicyly, go to Florence, MIlan, Venice, and dozens of mindblowing willages and locations along the route. And, above all, smell, taste, eat and drink as much local stuff as possible. Try to blend in. Feel the locality of the place. Talk to people. I hope you;ll see how life get its meaning when you learn from your travels and thanks to them. Enjoy, and have happy and memorable journeys!
I truly love this old style. It bring me to the middle ages.
Always love the way you always give a breif history of the plac Thank you for your amazing travel
We walked to the Jewish ghetto from our hotel. We ate there. The food was good. We visited a synagogue. We also visited the Vatican. We saw the Spanish Steps and ate at the restaurant to the left of them-Babbington's.
Thanks Rick and team. I recently visited Roma and it was a dream. You’re the best guide world wide.
I visit Rome and the Vatican last year it was amazing.
AMAZING! Very well documented video covering almost all aspects that a traveler to Rome would be looking for.
Studying up for my first Rick Steves tour, a week in Rome. So excited to finally be doing this dream trip.
There is always something new to discover in Rome. Just wandering around is a discovery fest. Enjoy your trip. Bon voyage!
How did it go
Made my trip in October ‘21 with daughter studying in Florence. Rick’s walking tour podcasts were essential! 😎
Love Rick! Got me through two years travelling with him via video. Thank you.
Great one, only video which shows Rome in such a detail presented all aspects of Rome's culture and most importantly religion.
Rome is definitely an incredible city if you love history and art. The traffic, graffiti and smoking is there but it's more than worth having to see this city. The Diocletian and Baths of Carcalla are also really worth visiting. I also liked the Eustrucan museum.
Beautiful tour. Thank you ❤️
Like the guidebooks, Rick’s updated videos are both familiar and newly informative
Ever enchanting Rome! Thoroughly loved this video. Thanks.
Having just returned from a trip to Rome, loved this ♥️🙏
Amo il tuo nome

Rick Steves. How I loved watching your show on Sunday mornings
Rome is a beautiful city with many attractions we've been there before during our travels to Rome, The Leaning Tower of Pisa the Coleseum The Vetican , The beautiful cathedrals , The beautiful architecture and the beautiful women like Sofia Loren and Venice even Macau now have a copy of Venice The capital of gambling like Las Vegas !
Please bring more Rick - these videos are amazing and so calming..its like meditation for me.
Magnifico! This one hour will transport you away to the best this city has to offer.
this is an old video but still I'm enjoyed watching it........you can see the beauty of Rome is out of this world.
Your videos are, by far, the best options for those who really want to travel off-the-beaten tracks. Accurate explanations, careful revisions. Amazing !
Marvellous!! Can't find words to commend the way you have conducted this virtual tour of Rome. Perhaps, I couldn't have explored these fantastic places even after staying there for many days. Thanks a lot
Thank you for this great video! ☺
This video is really nice and trustful I'm here in Rome and I can say this is the most beautiful place I have ever seen (not perfect ofc), so much to see just walking around and with a moderate butget, you can afford nice bars and exquisite food, the views are amazing, even the wether is amazing, the italian taste and style is evident in some neighborhoods, the freshwater is free all around the city center by the little "nasoni" fountains, and there's even San Peter here, if you can don't miss Rome and stay more time as you can to enjoy better this amazing place💕
All glories to Marcus Aurelius and his "Meditations!" "When you arise in the morning, think of what a precious privilege it is to be alive-to breathe, to think, to enjoy, to love."
And his devine son, the Stalin of the Antike: Commodus! 😍😍🙏
It was a treat for eyes and your commentary for ears. Wonderful visuals made my day. Thanks for your treat.
Thank you Rick, I had a great time visiting Rome and exploring with the help your audioguides ❤.
I listen at work and Rick is the best.
I am going there and was looking for something that shows the history of the places and not only basic travel tips, from a trustworthy source. Thank you!

This is much much much much better than any of the travel vlogging videos
Wonderful, informative, interesting, all in all a joy to watch.
Great work sir
Thanks Rick and team.
Loved this tour of Rome, which I've been fortunate to visit twice but only for a few days each time. One thing to point out, though, is that San Giovanni in Laterano is the cathedral of Rome.
Wonderful video and content. Thank you for sharing.
Excellent and inspirational film. Thanks Rick!
Beautiful video! Grazie dall'Italia
I hope, you hit the 5 M subscribers soon!! I was there in May and I enjoyed it way better with this tour than myself and friends! Thanks so much. Blessings
