Cheers Rick for bringing to the world, and a disabled woman from Yorkshire - (U.K.) - me, the absolute best in world travel and some breath-taking views and nature to us all. I think if you get loads of people up, out and travelling, absorbing all the culture and educating themselves about other peoples/countries and religions and the struggles they might have had to face to get where they are today, then you should be well happy with helping people to realize that you've only got one life, so get out and travel as much as you can! You can say aloud and be proud that your videos have helped people all these years. I am so grateful for every one of your videos and that your films give information about disabled travelers, such as myself - I can honestly say that that is invaluable information. I say Thank You Rick, keep on travelling my friend, always.
Its from Rick's videos I realized how beautiful the Earth is. Thanks for sharing the video and cheers to everyone watching here.
not only rick is a gem but the cameraman & editing makes his videos the best
These were originally on TV - that’s why. He’s not just some dude with a KZhead channel. He had a whole TV station behind him.
Rick, much appreciated your tone, graciousness, respect, truly you are helping many get through a tight spot in history. Thank you for your kind demeanor. You are helping US. Never loses its ability to inspire and uplift. Thank you.❤️
He’s been making great travel videos before the internet. They are always entertaining, he’s on PBS or use to. 😃❤️👍

Never in my life would I have thought I would enjoy listening to accordions and the beautiful voices singing along. That put a smile on my face and in my heart!
Rick's love of all peoples, cultures and our planet stem directly from his deep commitment to his faith.
Great Memories back in 1980: I had spent a quiet, secluded week at a family's bed'n'breakfast place in a very small Austrian village surrounded by the Alps and the soothing sound of cowbells and waterfalls. This episode brought back the once-in-a-lifetime experience! Thank you Rick Steves & crew for this episode ~
That sounds wonderful! Good for you!
@@ceeceety2320 I agree
I am so grateful that all these videos exist on KZhead! Thank you 💖
Mr.Steve’s your are masterpiece ,we love you so much you bring my childhood wishes true , I always wish that one day I will go to see Alps😇……….
I imagine Rick as one of the "highest people" wherever he travels! Safe travels buddy. It's always 4:20 somewhere!
Rick is the best travel 🧳 blogger. Always a vintage vibe 💯💯💯
In my view Europe is heart of world, there are many places that close to nature, if in future I am able to Europe trip I will definitely go to Europe.
I'm from India... I can't go these places but I love watching and clearly understood the location, journey and speciality of the place/city/town... Also I like the narration which I can understand clearly without missing any note...
You have also stunning mountains in India, you dont loose so much.
As only 5/6 Alpine countries visited I am a bit disappointed. Slovenia is a must visit too when it comes to Alps (tall mountains up to 2800m, beautiful alpine lakes, huge biodiversity, comparable infrastructure than rest of the alpine countries).
And you are in turn forgetting Liechtenstein. You can't always do it all. In fact, rushing through the first few countries made little sense to me. But I do agree Slovenia is gorgeous.
Thank you so much for sharing...
We loved Slovenia!
Thanku for sharing..Keep up your beautiful journeys thru whatever country or Continent that you cross.
Yes it is 😊beautiful country ❤️
I have been watching Rick's masterpieces for decades in the US and now in Asia. I am trying to explore every corner of China. Rick's products are still delighted, full of a sense of joy and happiness. He is still as handsome as time passes on. Keeping the good work for culture and humanity, we are with you for a lifetime. Thanks.
Watching this video made me so sad. Not because of the video, but because of 'covid times' where so many things have changed. Who wouldn't want to follow in Steve's footsteps to walk the Tour de Mont Blanc! So much has changed, I pray that one day I can visit the TMB.
I get lost in your travel vlogs... I feel that as i am listening a calm and soothing story... SO addictive
Les Alpes Suisse, quelle grande beauté, respiration maximale !
I have developed a passion to watch and travell along Rick Steve to different attractive countries, mountains in his videos.
Living in 🇨🇦 Alberta where we are also blessed with amazing nature, but Alps and Dolomites are most scenic mountains in my opinion . Masterwork video!
So informative & breath taking. Love from Zimbabwe 🇿🇼
europe is just beautiful
This is my favorite you have ever done Rick. Gives me something to dream about. Someday.
When I visited the Suisse 🇨🇭 Alps , I felt like I was in heaven ! 🙏 With love , 🇺🇸
People talk about heaven to me this is heaven I cannot imagine seeing anything more beautiful.
Hey, I'm from germany and went on vacation many times in the alps, I just want to acknowledge how well the spirit of the region was caught, really good job!
I sure enjoyed this video. The Alps are awesome. My trip there was in 2016 with a daughter doing a Go Ahead Jewels of the Alpine tour in 2016 to see the countries of the Alps. Annecy and Lucerne were highlights for me. The tour included cog railway up Mount Blanc, Mount Pilatus, and the Bermia rail from Italy to St. Moritz as well as lake cruises. The most awesome for me though was unexpected. For some reason the main highway interstate was closed that dat for the direct route from St. Moritz to Innsbruck. Our tour guide from Austria took us on a secondary route she had driven and thought would work but the fear was the bus too tall for some overpasses we barely cleared. We went through a very rural part of Switzernad up in the mountains seeing the farmers and cows on the mountainsides including through their national park perhaps a little too scenic at times. It was watching PBS Rick Steves TV shows that got my daughter's interest in travelling Europe. Great video. From St. Louis
Better than any major broadcasting company's TV show I've ever watched.
So true
I took three Eurail trips between '87 and '91 inspired by Rick Steves, averaging $60 a day and I focused on the Alps which are a snapshot of Europe in general, though I also visited lowland countries like Holland and Belgium. Switzerland, and a visit there alone, is a visit to French, Italian and German cultures. It is amazing to go thru the Gotthard tunnel and see the language change from Italian to German, or go thru a tunnel just past Basel and everyone is speaking French. I love Innsbruck and the Austrian Tyrol, a less visited town in Italy, with German street signs, is Sterzing, just over the Brenner pass and a short local train trip out of Innsbruck and back. I stayed at the Weisses Kreuz in the Pedestrian zone, where Mozart is said to have stayed, and my room looked over the pedestrian zone with a great view of the Golden Roof. Rick Steves has also helped me when considering guided tours, like my last on Trafalgar in '17, with stops situated near back doors places I can visit instead of paid tour day trips (which I do not frown on, I only did it twice on my last tour, to visit Lauterbrunnen and more laid back, less touristy parts of Amsterdam.
"Hi, I'm Rick Steves and, right now, I'm one of the highest people in Germany!" Oh, yeah?!
Switzerland in just stunning......❤❤ I just fell in love with the mountains and the views😍😍
I don't have the words to express how awesome this was...
This movie is a good summary why I left the Netherlands and start living in Switzerland many years ago ;)
Another breathtaking experience of Europe. . .Thank you! 😊😊😊
💯
Sir, Rick steves ... you are Best for Best of the Alps.
I LOVE the Alps. 14 summers since 2002 at 2-3 weeks per trip motorcycling the back roads, visiting small towns and avoiding cities and major roads. A successful day is roads without painted stripes and nobody speaks English. Although the latter is harder and harder every year.
Hiking , a new experience , an unimaginable one for an Indian like me, ...great feel ,but demanding energy , ....ice sculptor, an enviable joy, ...especially in cave , wow factors not in dearth of ...a once in a lifetime joy to explore ,if possible..😘
As expected from the genius of travel vlogging.. an excellent work!!!! Thankyou so much Steves for showing these heavenly places and making us aware of the beauty this world possesses..God bless us all and the Ukrainians and the Russians!!!!
👍👍🇺🇦🇺🇦 AND, the Russian people.... ❤️🌞❤️
Nice video! My brother studied languages at the Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center in California. The pace of study was intense. Students had to master the language course in 36-64 weeks. Psychologically it was very difficult, but fortunately he was helped by Yuriy Ivantsiv's book "Polyglot Notes. Practical tips for learning foreign languages”. The book " Polyglot Notes" became a desk book for my brother, because it has answers to all the problems that any student of a foreign language has to face. Thanks to the author of the channel for this interesting video! Good luck to everyone who studies a foreign language and wants to realize their full potential!
Funny you should say that, I happen to live in Monterey, the town where the DLI is located.
Thanks for keeping us positive, Rick.
Mr. Steves , I cannot have enough of your videos .
I've been to the Alps (italian side) and the Dolomites. There is nothing that can prepare you for their raw beauty.
What is more impressive to me than the Alps Rick is the passion that you poured on what you loved the most: traveling. You have created such an amazing concept that has no precedent. It is inspiring and at the same time a great reminder as to how successful one can be in our amazing country, the United States of America.
Enfin ! Vous revenez pour nous détendre. On en a bien besoin !
As an African,I must say Europe is beautiful 😍
Your voice and commentary is as calm as nature around...!!!!!! thank you
Startling beauty of nature ! I was simply struck dumb by the splendour of the alps . Truly an amazing experience . I wonder how it feels like visiting physically and spend about a week, at least .
Breathtaking. The Alps truly declare the glory of God.
This music is so beautiful it makes me cry and I'm a guy not prone to such emotion. Truly lovely. I've always loved Irish music and the Irish.
Dear Rick Steves Million Thanks for Making One More Beautiful Video About "Best of the Alps" I PRAY May Father God Bless You More.
Before I retired, I was prosperous enough to visit most all of these sites. Now, Rick's videos will have to do, but they will do just fine.
Rick's first guidebook "Europe through the back door" inspired me to quit my job in the USA and backpack through Europe. I had to visit his beloved Gimmewald. Of course, I had to hike up the Schilthorn from Gimmewald. Woof!. I fell in love with Switzerland and vowed to live there one day. One year later I was, and stayed for many years. I have traveled to 48 countries. Switzerland is without a doubt the most beautiful. Thanks for the inspiration.
One of the highest people in Germany. Good one, Rick!
The alps are truly a wonderful area! There are so many amazing places and much culture everywhere! Great presentation of these wonderful alpine places!
Hi swiss
Oh I love this episode. Being stuck in Hong Kong by various harsh covid-related travel restrictions, there's no hope of being able to travel any time soon.
Funny that Steve was likely also blazed when he said he was one of the “highest” people in the alps.
Thank you Steve! Can't wait to hit the Alps. It seems like heaven on Earth!
Hi
The intro Hahahaha, "Hi, im Rick Steve and i'm the highest person in Germany." 😂
I have had the pleasure of visiting Switzerland and flying over the Swiss Alps.
I absolutely LOVED skiing in the Dolomites in 2020.
Rick inspired me to do three Eurail trips in my late 20's, between '87 and '91, adding to tours I went on in '77, '82, '84 and '17 and one business trip in '95. Europe is where my family's roots are found, as many American families. I loved the Alps, so beautiful and so unique in scenery and immersed with old small towns where so many languages are spoken. We have wonderful alpine areas in the US, like the less traveled North Cascades in the state of Washington, or in Canada, like the mountains of British Columbia and Alberta. Ricks 'Europe thru the back door' was a great guide for my back door travel everywhere I have traveled.
That's awesome. How long has he been doing this then? Just found him via this video. Was he on TV back in the day, then?
I already know most of these regions, but I went during winter and its beyond beautiful, the appenzeller cheese is really tasty and cheap to come by in Appenzell and St. Gallen, I was there during november and december again, it's still one of my favorite places on earth, greetings from Mexico.
Visiting my dream country Switzerland through the eyes of Rick. Beautiful Alps. Thank you for sharing this video and featuring the Swiss Alps. ..hope one day I'll get to experience it all 💜
👍
This guy has the best jobs out of all the jobs there is you can say you love your job, but not like this. He got paid to travel to the most beautiful parts of this earth and talk about it to us if there a person in life that hit the jackpot of life it's this guy
I used to watch Cartoon Heidi, I was so fascinated with this place. It's so pleasant watching it .
Omg just by watching you are Soo Relaxed and lost in the Beauty of all these Natural places
"Hi, I'm Rick Steves, and I'm one of the highest people in Germany... and I'm not talking elevation." 😉😏
Thank you for sharing this video. Although I/m not sure I'll ever get to visit or see this in person, you really made my emotions come alive seeing the breathtaking beauty of this part of the world.
🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩
I hope you get to someday! I meant to go before the pandemic hits and I am preparing to visit as soon as I can. Maybe an opportunity will come for you too~
WOW THE WONDERFUL NATURAL BEAUTY OF ALPS
the best one after a long wait.. I wish I would have enough money to afford the mighty Alps soon. Namaste from Nepal.
It is awesome..what a beautiful apls, mountains, valleys, rivers , clear and clean environment, nice new and old unique houses surrounding the best spots..Steve, thank you for sharing such a splectacular scenery--video. I hope to visit these places..God bless you.
I would love to spend some time with Rick on such a camping site, he is really something compare to others on KZhead, literally the more proper guy when it comes to presenting the knowledge, my compliments!
I grew up watching your shows . Love them . Thanks mr.Steves
I travelled to the alps a lot as a kid but never to any of the famous destinations. My parents were always looking for the best deals, nothing beats one or two weeks half board and the nature is stunning everywhere.
Thanks to Rick for keeping our dreams and hopes alive.
Wowww!!! Its like im dreaming , my most beautiful armchair travel...love from the Philippines.
Excellent... however it was warmer in those Roman times than it is today !!
Tour de Mont Blanc great trips thanks again Rick.Ann Deakin 20th Jan 2022.most lucky to have tour today .
Rick, you are a gem. My son and I have watched your tours for years 👍🤗
A lot is know about the ancient and prehistoric cultures in the southern parts of Europe because there're lots of written records. But little is known about the prehistoric and ancient cultures of the more Northern parts of Europe. Like the Scandinavia and Baltic regions. I wish we will know more about them.
Maybe the lack of written records suggests there was not a lot of culture..
@@Theactualstoic I agree.
@@amblincork Maybe.
Thank you Rick for this marvellous adventures. Like the taste of good food remains in your mouth for many hours after eating, your videos feels warm even after it's over
Amazing….absolutely beautiful…I felt as if I was with you the whole journey….thanks from the bottom of my heart and of course lots of love to you and your dear ones 🥀🙏🏽
I like a road with green grass on it. It has the beauty of nature.
Un sueño hecho realidad, conocer los Alpes y sus hermosos paisajes y pueblos. Gracias Rick !! Thanks Rick!
Great updated video - thank you. The Tour de Mont Blanc looks like it's going on my To-Do-Soon list. Cassandra's words of advice were spot on, especially the one most people will risk disregarding because it sounds so obvious: being preemptive and action-oriented about adjusting niggling issues as soon as they arise, adjusting clothing to changing temperatures and adressing thirst / hunger BEFORE it affects the body. I feel one issue was left out: ALWAYS be mindful of the weather, check the weather forecast up to the evening before departing for a tour, check for predicted thunder storms, continuously monitor the weather during the hike, avoid being exposed in the open in lightning at ALL COST, and always include clothing for bad weather. The higher alpine regions are very nice to enjoy in the sunshine, but when circumstances start deteriorating and we lack the proper equipment or clothing, things can go VERY south very QUICKLY.
👍
Good advice! I hiked many high alpine trails. A sunny day can turn into icy rain, even snow in minutes. If you are far from shelter and don't have the proper clothing, it could turn deadly.
So blessed to travel Europe. So beautiful and lovely landscapes and buildings plus fun traditions.
The Lauterbrunnen Alps episode was where I first discovered Rick Steves. Hope he is doing well, and hopefully will get more episodes someday! 😀
Search for his weekly radio show.....I catch it on NPR, public radio....sorry not more precise...
Ol' Papa Rick. Been watching him since I was 8 (now 26) taking my first trip to the Netherlands and Northern France in Oct
I loved this compilation of five countries. Thank you
Hey Rick, I've been watching your stuff for a while now and just wanted to say thank you! Thanks for allowing me to see places I'll most likely never be able to personally visit. You are awesome, sir!!!
What a beautiful film. Thank you so much, Mr Steves. I began my "travels" in Europe during the pandemic by KZhead, saving up destinations to experience and savour in the future. Switzerland has definitely been added to my list of wishes. Such a lovely country.
I wish i can visit these Alps in person.such an amazing beauty
Fantastic photography, how I wish I were 50 years younger. The film brought back happy memories of trips and hikes to the French Alps in the 1990,s. Don't delay plan your trip. David McCabe Dublin ireland
Thanks David, glad you enjoyed. I'm not even 50 and feel to old to do this, i suppose its just an excuse.
The Alps and Dolomites are a wonderful area to visit at least once in your life!
