It seems to me that Petr made a in the moment honest mistake and TJ changed his physiology to be able to beat up another fighter.
It definitely didn’t seem intentional but nonetheless it’s illegal. In every sport there’s unintentional fouls but you still get punished. You can accidentally commit a travel in basketball but it doesn’t mean you won’t get called for a foul. Wether on purpose or not it’s illegal and he’s a champion fighter who knows the rules. However you wanna look at it this is still a foul and it could’ve seriously hurt aljo
And still lost in less then a minute 😂😂
Seems to me that they both broke the rules in a fashion that directly impacted the fight "Sorry officer, I was accidentally speeding..." - still speeding "Sorry neighbor, I accidentally ran over your dog..." - yup, pretty sure it's still dead either way "Sorry Aljo, I accidentally gave you a concussion with a blatantly illegal strike..." - uh huh, pretty sure Sterling still ate a knee and pretty sure that knee was still illegal

Comparing TJ’s cheating to Yan’s “cheating” is a weak argument. Taking PEDs is very different to making a mistake in the heat of the moment. I’m not saying Yan shouldn’t have been disqualified. I’m saying that it makes sense why TJ doesn’t get a title fight and Yan does. My 2 cents.
TJ tweeted after the fight saying they’re both cheater 😂😂okay buddy
A)Bad decision on a split second during emotions of a fight. B)Taking drugs intentionally to do better on title fight against a smaller guy, and getting caught on a blood exam. Chael: "Yes, A and B are the same!"🤡
As Chael said, one of those incidents sent someone to the hospital with a concussion. So yes, they are totally different...
@@LeandroSantos-vp4hf Yes exactly! Thanks for clarifying my point further! Exactly what I meant 💪🏻
As much as I like chael a huge issue I have and one that annoys the fuck out of me at times is he views things in black and white. There's a big fucking difference between intentionally taking peds to have an advantage over another fighter that has spent his whole life working to get to where he is to another fighter who knees a downed opponent because his corner told him it was okay to kick. It was clearly an accident and I get hes saying it doesn't matter if its an accident cheating is cheating, but the point is you can't compare the two. Having yan have a rematch to win back the title he clearly would have kept to begin with doesnt mean a fighter who takes drugs to steal a title gets a shot right away. It doesn't matter if he served his time, he needs to earn his way back.
Dillishaw is a completely different situation. He’s a snake who planned on cheating before the fights ever started. You can’t take EPO by accident
So he should be banned for life?

@@moto-fl3rd But cheating to gain something and doing stupid thing by accident isn't the same. It would be another thing if Yan was known as a dirty fighter but we saw all of his fights in which he never showed us that. In my opinion should someone be punished because of illegal supstances? Hell yes. For cheating with malicious intent? Yes. But this is was pretty clear incident, I think we are all on the same page when I say Yan didn't want to cheat and he had noting to gain from what he did, no malicious intent. With that in mind his punishment fits the crime, he lost his tittle and he will have to prove he deserves it. Opponent was hurt but it wasn't anything permanent and he will have to actually prove he deserves the belt if he wants to keep it.
@@moto-fl3rd not even close to the same cheating dude. What Yan did isn’t necessarily cheating. It’s a foul. Like in basketball you don’t get penalized for fouls other than the situation. This was the first time I've ever disagreed with Uncle Chael's assessment. Yan made a big mistake, and it appears like he didn't know the rule and misunderstood what his corner was trying to tell him. He shouldn't be sanctioned by the commission for this as there was no intent to take advantage of the situation by cheating. Intent matters when judging any situation.

Also I think all other issues and arguments aside, the question Chael mentioned of “if a champion can’t lose the belt if he breaks a rule, what incentive does he have to follow them?” stands on its own. Even if you buy into all the “unwritten” rules stuff, this issue is clear as day.
Great point! never looked at it that way!
I watched the replay and the ref said “grounded” few seconds later Yan asked his corner if it is so and the cornerman yelled something like “бей” what u can translate as “hit”. That does not mean specifically throw a knee. In my opinion Yan made a mistake but it should be a no contest. The ref (Smith) immediately snitching on Yan and claims in front of the official that it was an intentional shot. I don’t think Yan risk his title just to do some unnecessary damage to Sterling in a fight where he obviously dominate. Smith didn’t spend a second to clear the question if Yan heard his call.
Great points.

I agree with you. i was rooting for aljo, and i knew he wasn't going to win by the end of the 2nd or 3rd round. But for it to end that way that it did, honestly broke my heart for him. i'm one of those fans, that cares more about the attempt than the result. i have a lot more love for a guy like tony Ferguson vs GSP. i'm all about throwing yourself into the fire and seeing who survives.
I think it was a big miscommunication between Yan and his team. The ref said grounded. Yan then says/asks his corners "нога?" then the corner seemingly says "бей". Did Yan mean "should I knee him?" or "is his leg/knee down?" Did the corner mean "knee him?" or "hit him?" I'm fine with the outcome of the fight, but what's certain is that Yan and his corner need to work on clearer communication.
meanwhile Chael is comparing him to TJ and calling for his suspension or i dont know what the hell the point he's trying to make, "his corner told him to cheat" wtf Chael

It was an illegal hit regardless of weather Aljo received serious damage or not, the winner of the fight was determined correctly according to the rules. We should be glad that he didn't get seriously injured as that will make the next title match happen sooner.
It doesn’t matter. Here’s why: You are a professional. You are not an amateur.
Even as an amateur, first thing you do when you want to compete is look at the rules, so you can prepare within said rules. As a D-class Muay Thai fighter, you can’t throw elbows, so you don’t train them as often as a professional Thai fighter would. A Lethwei fighter trains headbutts because it’s allowed and he needs to practice. I can’t understand that an MMA champion who trains in the most prestigious gyms in the world (Tiger Muay Thai & ATT) made this mistake. He brings shame upon himself and his camp this way. I do believe they should run it back because he was winning easily, I had it 3-0 for Yan. But that shot can not even be classed under ‘schoolboy mistake’, it was way worse than that
THANK YOU Chael. The foul was one thing but the ref not stopping it blew me away. That should have been stopped moments after the damn knee.

As always, epic! Here’s what different: a language barrier and “downed” not being clear. As a pro fighter, I’ll admit, it’s the champs name to have a clear understanding of all of the rules. Yan wanted to fight TJ because he felt like he needed to to be the “real champion” and although TJ cheated and didn’t deserve to fight for a title, we would have been punishing Yan by not giving him that fight. Now we have Sterling who clearly feels like an illegitimate champion and we’d be punishing him by not giving him Yan again.
Damn you exposed Chael there
If Chael made 3 points consecutively that weren't contradictory im sure he'd explode
Great points Chanel.
Yo my friend Sean does the best impersonation, he has chael’s speech patterns down to a tee it’s great. Every video uploaded I have to check my ear buds volume to be sure I don’t blow out my eardrums lol
Title shouldn’t change hands on a DQ. The champion should be stripped for a DQ, at least to incentivize them to not blatantly cheat. But no one (except maybe Diego) wants to win like that.
You win, you get paid more. Bills exist.
just find it ironic Aljo has become everything he was trashing Petr for during the build up, he’s become paper champ💀😬
And it’s yans fault
Bad take
Sucks more to be Yan.
How is this funny or ironic? He got knee on the face and obviously didn't wanna "win" this way. If he goes around pretending like he's the champ then that's gonna be a problem.
You act like it was his choice? Education is key
Don’t make it a big deal out of it ppl, Yan didn’t know the rule period, and he was winning and he will get his belt back for sure, now I know Petr Yan is legit and something special to watch
Bro he’s been legit and something special for a while. He’s soo balanced and a beast. I’ve been a fan since 2017
You do not know the rule !!! and you're the champion ???? People are downplaying it and wanted him to continue not measuring that the doctor said he should stay down and what another hit on the head could have triggered. How many fighters lost their lives or became paralyzed " for the sake of the fight and fans" I do not see fans paying their bills or helping them financially. Win by the rule period.
@@ivanlawrrence2353 do us a favor and don’t watch MMA/UFC
@@pilfamilypf9815 hmmmmm okay I will think about that...Thanks for your precious and deeper, thoughtful advise.......
take a shot every time uncle chael says licenced
that fight ruined my day
Petr yan gets the immediate fight because he IS the champ because he was winning and is the best 135 pounder
Although that will likely happen, Aljo is the champ now and he can choose another opponent if he wants.
@@Dukeflyhawker he won’t do that but we won’t this fight until summer or December
@@richcuatro5338 and that's if things go according to plan. There could still be injuries, replacement fighters or who knows what. I also actually think Aljo fights better in the rematch.
no he's not the champ he cheated actually
Agreed 💯
Better help is a great idea, also great take 👍
Spot on analysis
Anthony Smith got the exact same knee to the head from Jones...But since Smith's nickname is "lionheart", not "Oscar Master", he had the honor to continue the fight, even knowing that he was losing.
Yeah continue the fight against a dangerous opponent while clearly concussed...makes sense
@@ZachS33 innit like all these guys saying he was faking even tho a dr came in and said he was concussed baffles me
@@ZachS33 Listen to Dana, there was no concussion found in the hospital. Thats number one bullshit.
@@scotthesketh5987 yeah. Try taking an unprotected knee to the head from Yan and all these shit talkers would be dead. Yeah the title changing hands this way sucks but like Chael said what incentive would a champ have to make sure he/she follows the rules if they didn’t risk getting stripped of their belt.
@@ZachS33 I think people are just comparing him to people getting completely flat lined and then getting up faster than him honestly
Yan saw his hands were up. He did not realize his knee was down.
Yes even though the ref told him he was down 🙊
He barely speaks English so the ref saying that means nothing
@@pfclex6737 he's a professional ufc fighter....? Fangirls I swear. He knows enough English to hear the ref saying instructions.
This is one of Chaels best takes, so many quotable lines.
Chael, that was Shakespearen, seriously; that was some of the most compelling 7 minutes of TV I've seen in a sweet moment. And by the way, SPOT ON...how in good God's name is this NOT. BEING QUESTIONED
Chael "Poor Little Peter" Sonnen
Imagine betting on Yan and thinking youll win money after his performance then that happens
Exactly what happened. Im pissed.
That’s fucking hilarious
Yep...that was me lol
I went through that set of emotions in a different way: decided at the last moment not to advocate betting on Yan. I was extremely confident Yan would win. I do remain confident. After seeing him dismantle Aldo, it dawned on me that this dude Yan is one of the best fighters ever. Khabib level, but smaller, and different.
Literally happened to me. I had a 4 fight parlay on Islam, Rakic by Decision, Yan outright and Jan outright. Would've been a nice payday lol
Thanks for explaining how to spell "Help" I was struggling.
