    • As much as I like chael a huge issue I have and one that annoys the fuck out of me at times is he views things in black and white. There's a big fucking difference between intentionally taking peds to have an advantage over another fighter that has spent his whole life working to get to where he is to another fighter who knees a downed opponent because his corner told him it was okay to kick. It was clearly an accident and I get hes saying it doesn't matter if its an accident cheating is cheating, but the point is you can't compare the two. Having yan have a rematch to win back the title he clearly would have kept to begin with doesnt mean a fighter who takes drugs to steal a title gets a shot right away. It doesn't matter if he served his time, he needs to earn his way back.

It would be another thing if Yan was known as a dirty fighter but we saw all of his fights in which he never showed us that. In my opinion should someone be punished because of illegal supstances? Hell yes. For cheating with malicious intent? Yes. But this is was pretty clear incident, I think we are all on the same page when I say Yan didn't want to cheat and he had noting to gain from what he did, no malicious intent. With that in mind his punishment fits the crime, he lost his tittle and he will have to prove he deserves it. That does not mean specifically throw a knee. In my opinion Yan made a mistake but it should be a no contest. The ref (Smith) immediately snitching on Yan and claims in front of the official that it was an intentional shot. I don’t think Yan risk his title just to do some unnecessary damage to Sterling in a fight where he obviously dominate. Smith didn’t spend a second to clear the question if Yan heard his call.

Did Yan mean "should I knee him?" or "is his leg/knee down?" Did the corner mean "knee him?" or "hit him?" I'm fine with the outcome of the fight, but what's certain is that Yan and his corner need to work on clearer communication.

    @acephas3@acephas33 жыл бұрын
    • Even as an amateur, first thing you do when you want to compete is look at the rules, so you can prepare within said rules. As a D-class Muay Thai fighter, you can’t throw elbows, so you don’t train them as often as a professional Thai fighter would. A Lethwei fighter trains headbutts because it’s allowed and he needs to practice. I can’t understand that an MMA champion who trains in the most prestigious gyms in the world (Tiger Muay Thai & ATT) made this mistake. He brings shame upon himself and his camp this way. I do believe they should run it back because he was winning easily, I had it 3-0 for Yan. But that shot can not even be classed under ‘schoolboy mistake’, it was way worse than that

An example: I remember years ago watching fights where guys on their feet would keep at least a hand on the floor and you couldn’t strike him. That’s the rule the champ thought was at play. He immediately gestured “his hands came up” and he wasn’t thinking of another rule that if a fighter is on a knee, he is also considered “downed”. Does it matter? No because he should have known the rules as a professional athlete; period.

  • Title shouldn’t change hands on a DQ. The champion should be stripped for a DQ, at least to incentivize them to not blatantly cheat. But no one (except maybe Diego) wants to win like that.

    • You do not know the rule !!! and you're the champion ???? People are downplaying it and wanted him to continue not measuring that the doctor said he should stay down and what another hit on the head could have triggered. How many fighters lost their lives or became paralyzed " for the sake of the fight and fans" I do not see fans paying their bills or helping them financially. Win by the rule period.
